Why do black people tip poorly? Why are women bad drivers? Why are asians good at math? Some mysteries just cannot be explained.

I babysat for a family that vacations here every summer from NYC. I asked him if it's a huge culture shock for them here, and he said it is, but he said he really appreciates the difference in culture around here, for them it really is a vacation from every day life.I was really happy to meet a yank that appreciated us here.
8/31/2009 8:17:27 PM
This is a crappy list, there are lots of things I don't get about southerners, but these aren't them, biscuits help you get full and are tasty, pronunciation is a cultural thing, and I don't know where you got the grocery store one.

What about the love of Cheerwine?!?! Do you understand why Cheerwine is amazing?
8/31/2009 8:22:09 PM
I used to like it but cherry flavor makes me sick now son.

You have to use crushed peanuts, stupid!
8/31/2009 8:29:38 PM
I find it funny how you call everyone who isn't from the south a Yankee. I'm from Wyoming, we love hunting, cookouts, pickup trucks and whiskey. But you guys call me a Yankee like I came from Manhattan.
8/31/2009 8:33:11 PM
I surprised no one has mentioned the most cherished southern beverage. SWEET TEA!What up north, y'all ain't got shit on that.
8/31/2009 8:33:52 PM
Chicago = Yankee
8/31/2009 8:35:48 PM
Technically every american is a Yankee....But I think the reason why people call anyone not from the southeast a yankee is because it's just goes back to the original states that were part of the south...and obviously us southerners don't like change.

hey look its a north vs south thread!cheerwinbe and sundrop are both gastonia bred, REPRESENTblack cherry vodka and cheerwine is the shitsundrop slushies are unbeatablealso the cheerwine and sundrop sherbert ice cream that food lion sells is fantastic
8/31/2009 9:37:05 PM
I don't understand the hatred for bread. It's tasty. It's also the biggest thing on the food pyramid, isn't it? You're supposed to eat a bunch, unless you want to pull an Atkins and die like he did. It's even closely associated with the birth of human civilization as we know it today. You have to settle down to make bread. Without those settlements, no cities, no literacy, none of that. Of course, I've heard the same thing suggested about beer, but really that's just liquid bread with booze in it.I am also not familiar with the apostrophe/grocery store phenomenon, and you'd think after living here 24 years I would have run across it. But then again, the one example you can think of is Kroger, which, honestly, I thought had gone extinct like a decade ago.
8/31/2009 9:46:07 PM
Kroger's is still alive and kicking
8/31/2009 9:50:55 PM
ive never heard anyone say kroger's
8/31/2009 9:52:23 PM
8/31/2009 9:52:37 PM
Cheerwine was first made in Salisbury, not Gastonia....
8/31/2009 9:54:49 PM
i've experienced a higher percentage of drivers failing to follow the "headlights when it's raining" law in the South compared to anywhere else
8/31/2009 9:57:06 PM
^^yes but there a bottling/distribution center in gastonia, hence why i said bred and not born
8/31/2009 10:01:20 PM
saps theres this new thing. shorter version than arguing /CUNTNESS
8/31/2009 10:02:38 PM

8/31/2009 10:07:25 PM
I promise you it's in Salisbury. Carolina Bottling Corp. which is in Salisbury.
8/31/2009 10:09:42 PM
wait...cheerwine and sundrop arent made by the same company?there is definitely a sundrop bottling plant in gastonia, which i would think it would bottle cheerwine as well, could be wrong though[Edited on August 31, 2009 at 10:12 PM. Reason : .]
8/31/2009 10:11:32 PM
No, sundrop is part of Sundrop Bottling Corp. which is actually in TN.
8/31/2009 10:13:47 PM
It's already been said, but Cheerwine wass born and bred in Salisbury you fucking cunt. The headquarters and bottling plant are still there. Don't try our steal our thunder with your Gastonia bullshit. Thank you
