Platform =/ rig. Rig's drill, platform's are in place where an exisiting oil well has already been set up. Usually they pull from multiple wells nearby and then pump to a central location or pipeline for refining or pick up.

Everyone is ok, one person hurt, very low risk for environmental disaster (again) however, so was deepwater drilling so we thought...
