I remember back when I was a freshman, the fire alarms in Carroll Hall were so sensitive that they often were triggered by people taking showers without closing the door to the head. The problem was that they then evacuated the entire dorm, often at screwed up hours when people were trying to sleep.

We had 6 fire alarms in the first 3 days I lived there. It got better after that, but it was still problematic (along with the elevators and air conditioning--which, in their defense, had just been installed--constantly shitting the bed).
