they're filling in different sections weekly, based on what is revealed on the show. Like before last weeks show, the "Location" page was blank

Most netbooks have an external VGA port...

I loved when Dwight heard about the co-managers, and then just snapped hahaha

Probably just me, but that barely looks like Jenna Fischer. Almost like they did too much photoshopping on that one.

I think gin

the show had some good lines, but it's not nearly what it used to be

Michael is more douchey than funny/bumbling around causing problems.

I still love watching the s1-s3 reruns though.

i love the show

but it has gone from funny to us being deeply involved with the characters

which is good but still...

you know, the quirky's shelf life isn't really that long, so the transition might be good

It sounded like shit to me, but then Jim drank it so I figured I just heard it wrong.

Great Creed-moment in this one.

I'm pretty sure thats the same room they used for the competing Christmas parties a few seasons ago

That room has never been there before. Used to be two desks in that corner.

The rival-party room you're thinking of is the break room (not the kitchen, but the room with vending machines.)

Not the best of episodes. They've already done one with the exact same plot, except the first time it was:
1) Michael leaves the office, Jim is in charge
2) Jim, thinking he'll fix some of the annoying things Michael does, changes how the office does birthday parties
3) Crap hits the fan and Jim learns that Michael's job wasn't as easy as he thought it was

Seen it. Wasn't that good the first time. Also office workers openly (and loudly) complaining about raises was just too much for me to be able to suspend disbelief.

I just watched it once, but I thought he said Jim as in Jim Beam and thought it was a pun. It made it funnier to me because I thought he was saying Jim as in 'just drink it Jim' at first but then when they smiled I got it.

why didn't they just do the small raises for everyone? that seemed like the obvious choice. it seemed like they dumbed jim down just for the plot line.

yeah that's what frustrated me

at first, i thought jim was out there trying to prove that michael would have been wrong not giving everyone the 1.5 by showing him how crazy the staff would get, but then it became apparent that he was just fucking up

i did like it when kevin was like "i'll just write a check"

i also noticed it looked like kevin had a full head of hair during the wedding preview

yeah, i think what we've learned from this episode and the last one where Jim was temporary manager is that..... Jim has no management skills. He may be a good salesman (i guess?), but he sucks as a manager

The funny thing is when we were told that we weren't getting raises about this time last year it went down exactly like that. In fact very similar comments were made.

Wow, not to derail this thread, but that's pretty retarded. They didn't tell us we weren't getting raises. None of us expected raises in this economy. We were all glad to still be gainfully employed while many of our friends and associates at other companies were getting pink slips. I don't get how some people think.

^ yeah, not to mention - does anybody work in a company where office-wide announcements are actually made like that? Where a manager walks out and says "can I have everyone's attention please - here's a bunch of bad news. Please feel free to hurl insults directly at me or air your personal grievances in front of all your co-workers"

News like this would almost always be made in a more formal meeting-setting or via an email where there is room and time to explain the background and words can be chosen carefully. Any "i have kids in college" complaints, I would think, would be made at the worker-level, between colleagues, and not shouted out towards the managers.

right - because all HR related activities happen by the book in the Office - what show have you guys been watching where you think anything HR related happens as it does in the real world

When the show started they had exaggerated storylines that people could still somehow relate to. You'd always see hints of your real coworkers behavior reflected in certain characters. They dropped that for the less popular (to me) "let's see how much we can make the viewers cringe and squirm as we crank the ridiculous factor up to 11". It's getting a lot harder to relate the humor back to real life experiences.

Yes, you always had to suspend disbelief, but now it's always a huge stretch. I guess they just ran out of decent material. They devolved from antics surrounding an office basketball game to having a guy nail the doors shut, start a fire, and bitch about his missing raise.

Oh yeah, that reminds me of the time when Bill gouged that guy's eye out with a pencil so corporate threatened to not reimburse him for when he got his company car repainted. That Bill sure is a character.

I miss the simple things, the good old stapler in the jello, the 500 feet of red wire taped to dwights desk... I agree it has gotten a bit more serious and I miss the chemistry between Jim and Dwight (probably the best relationship on the show...) But there are the still the famous awkward Micheal moments, and the funny lines; hopefully the wedding is not too drawn out after the fact, and we can get back to the office we all remember.

i was talking about the comments. The setting was more as you described. We have quarter business reviews where they go over the performance of the company as a whole. when they did this last year they also mentioned no raises. No guys said a thing but a lot of the women verbally complained then and there (none of which were black). One girl even immediately began to cry.

And this is exactly the problem in most real-life jobs as well.

I'm surprised no one brought up the fact I'm betting Jim got a nice little pay-bump by moving up to co-manager.
