the place is awful to watch a game. its a decent college-area bar but their tvs are a combination of 90s generation projectors and stretched lcd in sd. awful just awful.

i went to tobacco road to watch the wake game and they had non-playoff-panther football on instead and put the basketball game on 1 small tv with panthers sound. they have great tvs (maybe the only bar in that area with good tvs i've never seen an area which such lack of good sports bars) but how in the hell can you name yourself tobacco road and show a meaningless football game over a big 4 basketball game? beyond me.

If this thread is for plugging sports bars, i'll go ahead and say that anyone who joins me at Flanary's in Roanoke for the NCAA Tournament or the World Cup gets to drink on me. This would involve someone else actually living in Roanoke, though.

it was 75% people in red at tobacco road and all the people that worked there were dressed up in nfl jerseys. We got 3 other tables to ask them to change it and they said no.

Maybe they have some kind of contract with direct tv where they have to show it?

Every time I've been there (and I've been there a lot), they have changed it to whatever I asked. Hell, I asked them to put a Mets game on the big screen in the middle of the wall next to the recliners and they did that.

They probably just thought you were a bitch.

They knew you made the request first.

The fact that I even had to ask is enough to warrant a name change.

They kind of say they aren't a "normal" sports bar. I like it though. I go there for a lot of baseball games but have only gone once on a Sunday. It was alright...

I usually stop in on Friday's or Saturday's to catch a game and a few drinks before heading out to the real Glenwood South stops...

I don't know. You must have just had bad luck...

I'm not talking about the sports bar part I'm talking about calling yourself "tobacco road" and showing a panthers vikings game over state and wake basketball even though half the people are in red.

Its a nice place I just have a problem with a place of that name showing an irrelevant charlotte football game over a tobacco road hoops game.

I'm thinking it HAS to be a contract making them show nfl games.
