one thing i recently learned is that as wine gets older it gets better to a certain point where it "peaks"

however, this rule does not apply after the bottle has been opened. i had some pinot noir on the counter from like two weeks ago and that shit had gone bad.

yeah it's gonna go bad after you open it. I got a Vacu-Vin wine saver that I use to recork my wine after opening that will help it last a bit longer.

yeah and it's only like $15...you really can't beat that. it's real easy to use, and if you google it you'll see nothing but great reviews. make sure you get the model that "clicks" when a vacuum seal has been achieved.

This is my favorite wine. I have been drinking wine for about 4 months now. I really like to drink wine. Its a different drunk for me lol. Try anything from Robert Mondavi Winery Im sure you will like it.

^Mondavi makes some pretty nice stuff overall. their cab reserve is fucking AWESOME, but it's also ~$140

to the Vacu-vin point. It'll hold longer with that product as opposed to just re-corking the bottle, but putting it in the fridge will help it stay "fresh" longer. Either way, most wines will lose a lot of their character after 2 days or so, even when properly cared for.

to lazy to read through everything but if you like sweet wines try a muscadine, some of them even taste like grape juice

I like wines. There are only a few brands that I've tried more than three or four times though. I usually just get one with a cool label.

I love white wines...my favorite is Pinot Grigio. It's much lighter than red wines...plus I like how well white wine goes with chicken and white fish (tilapia).

PG is a nice light, crisp white wine. it's unassuming and approachable. but if you can go to some wine tastings (well, good ones... like the ones at Wine N Things...) you can try some different varietals/blends/styles that you might end up liking more. Pinot blanc can kick some ass w/seafood, or fallanghinas w/any non-red sauced italian dish also rock.

anytime. I like wine a great deal, but I try my best not to be pretentious about it.. b/c at the end of the day, it's a consumable.

Calling Boone's Farm wine is like calling that powdered shit Kraft sells Parmigiano-Reggiano.

In any case, if you like sweet wines try an Ice Wine. It is basically the sweetest wine you can get and the process is pretty interesting. They do tend to be more expensive.

Sauternes are also wonderful if you want to try a sweet French wine.

Someone has already mentioned Moscato wines, which are wonderful. Muscadine wines if you like local sweet wines (Dublin Winery).

I highly recommend Nivole Moscato D'Asti. Its around 15 bucks for 375 ml.

I know where you are coming from Dammit100. I personally love the taste of wine so much, and it makes me sad that I can't drink it as much as I would like to...but oh well! Non-alcoholic wines are waaayyyyy too sweet. Ugh!

Wine drinkers...what's your opinion on stemless glasses?

^I don't like them really. I guess it's kind of snobby, but I like how sophisticated a wine glass looks.

hehehe, I can see that

I drink white out of stemmed still to not warm the wine, but I love drinking my reds out of stemless. We got Riedel stemless for our wedding to add to the ones I already had, and they're elegant glasses without the stem.

Oh i'm sure! That actually makes sense, for some reason, that the red wine could work in a stemless glass. Hehe.

And there's the perk of not breaking the stem due to overconsumption

Hahaha....very true, and I also hate washing wine glasses. I have this one that I actually painted my initials on, and so I can't put it in the dishwasher. It's a bit of a hassle to hand-wash it...but I'm a lil' lazy when it comes to things like that!

I had a really good red wine a few weeks ago at a restaurant with my parents. I can't remember what it was, but I think it was a cabernet sauvignon. Anyone have suggestions for a good cabernet?

mmmmmm WINE

I love the Chateau St. Michelle Reisling!!

I also like Sauvingon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and Malbec. My favorite Malbec so far came from Sitti. It's by Gougenheim in Argentina.
