If you want to talk about an awesome young coach doing everything the right way, look in Palo Alto at Harbaugh... damn, he is recruiting well...

no, thats why I agreed that people could think hes a douche. Does it kill you to read? We had years and years of the "aww shucks" nice guy

Quote :
"How many wins does all that earn you again? Oh, wait, I'm being the dumbass."

sigh... you think wins are just a random flip of a coin? they come FROM somewhere... it takes parts to build the team that wins games... he is doing a phenomenal job on those parts... thats all he can do for now

mechanic: "hey Fat Tony... here is that new transmission you needed for your car... let me just put this in here..."
Fat Tony: "fuck that! you havent fixed my car!"
mechanic: "what? I have to put this new transmission in first..."
Fat Tony: "fuck that! you havent done shit! not shit!"
mechanic: "I cant fix it without this part, wtf??"
Fat Tony: "fuck parts! i expect it to be randomly fixed with nothing added, not this 'parts' bullshit"

No, what he can do is keep his mouth shut until he actually beats a team other than Western Kentucky. That's why he's a classless douche.

He's no Sidney Lowe. I've never heard Lowe make an ass of himself and his school in the press.

It has nothing to do with coaching ability. It has to do with being a complete douchebag when you have nothing to back up your douchbaggery.

I have never cared UT football or UT fans. But thanks to Kiffin, they have put themselves up there with Notre Dame as a team that I hope lose regardless of who they are playing. (Just for comparison, UNC is a team who's bus I hope flips on I-40. So they rank just above them.)

Quote :
"When all is said and done and we’re all left to wonder how a juggernaut of a Florida team could’ve blown a chance at a second straight national title by getting tripped up by Alabama/LSU/Texas/Penn State/H1N1/egos, remember how the Tennessee game played out. Tennessee bratty and brash head man, Lane Kiffin, did a masterful job of keeping his undermanned team alive in a game that should’ve been ugly early, and he also might have exposed the soft underbelly of the giant.

Of course Kiffin didn’t open things up offensively; he couldn’t. You don’t think he wanted to bomb away? You don’t think he’d have loved to push the Gator corners a bit and stretch out the field? His quarterback, Jonathan Crompton, has a nasty habit of throwing the ball to the other side, so Kiffin kept it conservative, let his tremendous defense turn the Gators into a one-man show, and then he hoped he’d get one huge break that could’ve turned the tide. It didn’t happen, partly because Tim Tebow made a Heisman-caliber scramble for a key first down, but the game should make Meyer worried about the future for a few reasons.

1) His offense suddenly went caveman. The loss of WRs Percy Harvin and Louis Murphy to the NFL is bigger than expected. There are several good teams that would be more than happy to take their cuts against the Gators if the offense is 24 carries of Tebow.

2) When Kiffin gets his quarterback, and he’s in the running for all the star prospects in the 2010 class, the balance of power could quickly shift. Tennessee might not have beaten Florida this year with a competent passer, but it would’ve come very, very close.

3) Suddenly, there are teams that have the type of excellent passers Tennessee is missing on a Florida schedule that was once seen as squishy soft. Ryan Mallett and Arkansas, with one of the most fun offenses in college football, have a puncher’s chance to pull off the upset. Georgia has decided to quit playing defense and become Texas Tech on offense, South Carolina finally has an attack worthy of the Steve Spurrier brand name, and Florida State’s Christian Ponder has become a smooth, polished passer who makes the most out of the weapons around him. Even if the Gators get through unscathed, they’ll likely get Alabama and QB Greg McElroy, who’s playing as effectively as any quarterback in the country, in the SEC title game. Meanwhile, Kiffin will be off frying ants with a magnifying glass.

so basically kiffin is like a mechanic who calls up all your neighbors and tells them your car is gonna blow their cars away tomorrow but the replacement trans isn't in yet and the differential is throwing interceptions to a football team whose primary achievement is having a hilarious mascot

Coach is a good recruiter. Loses games b/c QB sucks. Coach makes an ass of himself in the media. Hmmm. Where have I seen this before?

Did Kiffin say that UT played their fannies off against UF? Just wondering.

Tennessee has one of the most talented teams in the country, just not at quarterback. And they aren't as talented as Florida (Florida, USC, Texas, Oklahoma are kind of in their own league with Alabama and Ohio State not far behind).

compared to all the other teams in Div I, yes they are very talented. Compared to where they were a few years ago, and where they should be, they have slipped. But last season was a big help, and this next class could end up being #1 in the country.

I agree with Jaybee's earlier post. Urban was not playing conservative at all and if he didn't have one of the best collegiate atheletes at QB he probably would have lost this game. Tebow carried the offense after Tennessee punched them in the mouth in the first half.

If Monte's a better coach than Lane, then TN should watch out...because Monte went 16-17 as HC at State.

well, considering that theres only been one time its impossible to make that comparison... but you can compare recruiting where UT is now above Florida for next year (so far), Lowe has never matched Roy in pulling in a class.

sigh... thats not the issue... you were claiming that Kiffin would be like Lowe and "win" the first time and then go to shit and my point was that since they have only played once there is no way to know that, SO, the only other thing to go by at this point is recruiting, which is even more applicable because most people (and of course most of you will disagree just to do it) feel that Tennessee might have won that game if they had a good QB on the roster... good QBs arent just spontaneously created, they come through recruiting

only difference is, lowe actually beat williams, kiffin has not beaten meyer yet...i guess he's waiting for tebow to leave

hey if the Panthers had a better kicker they might've won Super Bowl 38

yeah, you are right, Crompton is a badass QB, in fact, I dont know how hes not getting Heisman talk with his 7 INTs in 3 games. We should start a campaign.

except a kicker doesnt touch the ball every single play on offense, QBs have a LOT more impact on a game than a kicker, you have to know that. If every single other thing is equal and it comes down to the kicker then its a huge impact. But otherwise I would take Tim Tebow over Kevin Butler anyday

I never said that 0 int = always winning, but it is a lot harder to win 3 games when your qb throws 7 ints than it is when he doesnt throw 7 ints. But you will find some unrelated way to argue against that...

Never said that, not going through all of that again, its all above, not going to waste my time with someone who is just trolling, but I KNEW that as we moved further and further away from that game people (in particular the ones saying that the game would be a 60 point blowout) would start doing this, TWW is so predictable.

Your analogy didn't tell anything except that it was a coach that came from previous professional experience who went against a coach with national championships... so? thats probably happened a 1000 times... hell, every week Bear Bryant coached it probably happened.

i would say some people, not most people...besides, you dont have a good QB on the roster, so its irrelevant

speaking of TWW being predictable..."we wouldve won if..." "we shouldve won but..."

[Edited on September 26, 2009 at 2:13 PM. Reason : also i had no idea Bear Bryant coached for 100 years...thats an impressive feat]

how is saying that being bad at the most important position on the field an unreasonable statement? All Tennessee could do is run, they were completely one dimensional against the best team in the country and they still played them close, a lot closer probably anyone expected. So therefore if they had a decent QB and at least were able to give some sort of a hint of a passing game then that would have helped.

Where did I say he coached 100 years?

i could say if Florida had scored early in the 4th when they were driving and gone up 30-6, we wouldnt even be having this discussion

but then we'd both be talking about things that didnt happen and then both our arguments would be irrelevant, not just yours

am i drunk? wow you're a stupid stubborn fuck sometimes arent you

how many years did it take him to coach 1000 games?

or are you talking about other coaches with 2 recent national titles coaching against their rivals who just left the pros with some of the worst winning percentages ever? doesnt matter, as long as it changes the subject from how tennessee lost to florida, right?

changing the subject? YOU brought up Bryant coaching 100 years, not me. I simply responded you dumbshit. I said that it had happened 1000 times probably and then I said hell, it probably happened every week that Bryant coached. Nowhere does that say that Bryant was responsible for all 1000 of those times, nowhere did I say he coached 100 years.

But they didnt score because Tennessee made them fumble.

i guess if you continue to oversimplify and not understand my solid analogy, you'll continue to seem like you have no idea what you're talking about, and are simply a bitter UT fan continuing to make excuses about why you lost and why you shouldve won

its funny to see you keep digging yourself into a deeper hole...the bottom line is, and always has been, that tennessee lost...but i'm sure i'm not the only one getting plenty of LOLs about all your biased excuse making, Mr. Objectivity

its not an excuse, its simply saying that having maybe the worst two year starter at QB in recent memory at a major program didnt help, and its not just me, or Tennessee fans saying that, its pretty much every single recap of the game that read... I didnt see anyone state "Tennessee lost the game in spite of a brilliant performance by Crompton". In fact, I said over and over and over that Florida is a better team and I thought they would win by much more than they did, so thats the opposite of making an excuse.
