You can always go to HF and get one for like 15 bucks.
7/28/2010 3:58:38 PM
but then I will have two of them...which I only need one.
7/28/2010 4:12:33 PM

7/28/2010 4:14:51 PM
buy 3more, that way you can have a grinder, cutter, flapper, and wire wheel...

i need a good floor jack capable of lifting the tires off the ground on my Infiniti Qx4, stock height. I've had this cheap ass one I got from Autozone about 3 years ago go bad on me. I think it broke a seal. Anyway I was thinking about getting a Craftsman due to the lifetime warranty. Thoughts?never mind it only comes with one year warranty. but it still may be worth it. they have a 3-ton jack for $80. where else should i look...harbor freight, any other tool store?[Edited on July 21, 2011 at 8:53 AM. Reason : 1 year warranty]

I have the craftsman SUV jack and I wouldnt recommend it. I have had it for going on 12 years, but I also have had to take it apart and fix it several times. My brother and dad have the same jack and they just ended up trashing theirs because it was giving them too many problems. Lots of problems with it weeping fluid.I can say that it is one of the better jacks I have used at getting my van or my old truck up high enough to change big tires. Other jacks I have used just didnt go high enough, or didnt feel safe at that height(i would still put on jack stands, I just didnt feel comfortable at all until i had the jack stands under the van). My dad has a Northern Tool jack that he has had for at least 20 years, it is slow as hell to jack the car up, but it is as stable as they come. It also has a large tray on the head of the jack, which I like much better than the small hockey puck sized one that i have.

I know it may seem like a gimmick, but i would try to buy one with the "quick lift" feature. It actually is really nice to have it go from the ground to the axle in a couple pumps, instead of 30.
7/21/2011 9:12:47 AM
^^ yeah I have another 2 ton jack that i used for my wife's car but the lift range isn't enough to get my tires off the ground on my truck. i don't need a super awesome jack as I only need to use it a few times a year for routine maintenance on two vehicles. i'll check northern tools.

anybody have any experience with the arcan brand? thinking of picking up this guy...http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200345429_200345429i was looking at the torin's too but reviews are bad. seems worse then the craftsman.
7/21/2011 9:36:45 AM
i had no idea pneumatic impact wrenches were so cheapjust bought a 350 lb-ft kobalt for no reason other than it was $30 at lowes
7/21/2011 1:42:13 PM
nice ones are substantially more, but a cheap one like that will probably do anything you want it to do. if i was gonna use it weekly, i would get something nice.
7/21/2011 1:58:07 PM

8/29/2011 4:23:28 PM

8/29/2011 5:02:58 PM
i wonder how many of these "projects" bucky says he's taking on are actually completed?
8/30/2011 4:23:21 PM
all of them.I have this mindset where I take something on, finish it and look to something else.Im actually working on my 2nd set of boards at the moment. these are more portable and I made them a little better I think.did a tiki bar not long ago as well, dunno what my next project is, havent thought that up yet.

How in the heck can I get tools exchanged if I do not have a dealer anywhere close to me. I don't want to pay the shipping to send a bunch of broke stuff away and have to insure the package. Surely it's got to be like Xbox and they can just send me a prepaid box to send stuff back in.
5/28/2013 9:29:46 PM
It's bad I really want a tn-250 tube notcher...But it's $600 :-(Well all I really want is the bitchen radial vice.
2/24/2014 8:09:05 AM
I'm still partial to my (our ) Williams low-buck notcher for straight notches and the old flap-wheel on a grinder for angled ones.But.... can't short a man for wanting nice toolery
2/24/2014 8:14:06 AM
Hey what are the specs on the tube frame on the black truck?
2/24/2014 8:19:13 AM
1.75x.120" DOM, I have (3) 1/2" A36 HRS frame plates per side that the tubes pass through and weld into.
2/24/2014 10:02:49 AM
Poor mans sheet metal tools any suggestions?(I want an English wheel :-()
2/26/2014 2:18:52 PM
harbor freight & swag offroad. Those swag boys have got something cool going
2/26/2014 3:13:52 PM
Lowes was clearing out jawhorses and im pretty impressed with it. However, they should have defaulted to 50" and not 37" and avoided a 60 dollar add on
3/23/2014 5:08:03 PM
what's everyone's favorite cordless stuff? i want a drill with hammer drill function and a 1/4" hex drive impact. i guess i'll probably just pony up and buy the brushless milwaukee 18v combo.
2/1/2015 1:04:37 PM
I got the milwalkee combo for $125 at lowes and a 3rd tool free not too far back. works really well
2/1/2015 2:11:16 PM
was that the 18v brushless set w/ a hammer drill?
2/1/2015 3:15:31 PM
If you can wait...hit HD on their holiday sales. Also, you cant go wrong with Milwaukee Fuel shit.

RiverRat, check out this baby right here:http://www.amazon.com/Rockwell-RK2515K2-LithiumTech-12-Volt-Impact/dp/B004U4BAI8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422865163&sr=8-1&keywords=3rillI got the non-impact version, and it's super light and super strong for it's size. AND, you get lifetime battery replacement (up to 2 batteries per year, you will still pay for shipping) - don't know how the lithiums will do in the long run, but with Ni-Cd I had to buy new batteries every two or three years with light use - that got old really fast. So far the lithiums (both in this thing any my Ryobi 18v) are holding up much better, but it's good to have a peace of mind.

I love my Bosch 18v lithium Ion cordless drills. I got the drill and impact driver set, and it's wonderful. Driver Combo Kit CLPK232-180-RThttp://www.homedepot.com/p/Bosch-Reconditioned-18-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Drill-Driver-Impact-Driver-Combo-Kit-CLPK232-180-RT/203429309I got mine on sale +10% military discount, so it was about $120 OTD a few years back.
2/2/2015 5:07:44 AM
^^that only has a hex chuck. That kinda limits you. I want a regular old jaw chuck. That Rockwell would fill the need for an impact driver, but not for a drill. Also doesn't have a hammer drill. My goal is to get both tools with common batteries.
2/3/2015 8:33:17 PM
Sounds like Bosch is the way to go
