Unbelievable how bad the refs screw us.

This goes on the list of biggest NC state screw jobs just beneath :

1) Technical foul called on the waterboy in the ACC tournament causing the refs to be suspended for the rest of the season

2) Intentional Foul on Melvin causing us to get knocked out of the NCAA tournament when we had the game won.

3) TA Mcclendon touchdown being overruled by an official who was in another zip code and just happened to have his life saved in chapel hill a few years prior

Maybe a few of those pass interference calls in the 4th quarter were makeups for the clock mistake at the end of the first half.


My mistake, I didnt realize the officials were the ones who bled the clock. I was wasted and thinking about how best to exit at the end of the half to go piss and get a burger.

Overall, Obrien has done a decent job but let's remember we are 1-1 on the season and we were favored in both games. We have to get better this season, we can't have our 6th? consecutive losing season.

I like our coach. I think he's one of the best in the country.

BUT, he hasn't really won anything yet. Not even a winning season! Hell, he hasn't even gotten to the title game.

i made the thread at the very start of halftime because i was livid because i thought he botched the clock like herm edwards. i was wrong the refs did it to us and i apologize for blaming that on Obrien. I talked to several other people in the bathroom line and hamburger stand and they were all pissed too and not one of them knew the refs were the ones to screw up.

Situations like that are a lot less obvious when you are piss drunk at the game and don't have the benefit of the announcers explaining what just happened. All i knew was that we were at the goaline with ~30 seconds left and the next thing I know we are kicking a FG on 3rd down.

That is god awful clock mismanagement if not ref induced.

At this point we look about as good as I thought we would and if we solve the tackling and penalties we have a shot to contend for the ACC title. Honestly as long as we hammer UNC I don't even care if we wait until next year to win it.

His teams have gotten better over the season the last two years and that bodes well for us this year. However we're about to start conference play and we can't get off to a slow start by losing to a shitty Wake team this year.

P.S. I was jingling my keys and yelling start the bus to all the Pitt fans about 45 seconds before we fumbled on that shotgun play. Hilarious how upset the crowd got. They thought my keys really induced the fumble haha. I kept doing it during the next few plays and no one gave me credit for leading our goalline stand.

the o-line couldn't run block at all. sure, pass blocking was great. NO FUCKING RUN GAME DUE TO NO RUN BLOCKING. you fucking idiot.

the 10-yard padding sure didn't help but when you go to tackle, you hit, wrap up, then take down. we failed to do that constantly. how many times did our defenders make contact and not tackle? it's unacceptable and in the end, it lost the game for us

the tackle was made. he just fell for 5 yards because he had 5 yards of momentum to start out with due to cushion. thats what running backs do. absorb contact and fall forward.


I don't know abotu the run blocking. We ran the same shotgun sweep all game that everybody knows is coming and it still got a wall of block each time but got no better than 3 yards because its an east west play that takes literally 5 seconds to develop.

well ya he kept his legs churning on the way down but thats what running backs are taught to do. watch the replay and imagine a guy covering him arriving as he catches the ball. big difference. watch other teams play and you won't see on a critical play a hb catch the ball with nobody near him. we should've been all over any short passes. the fact that he caught the ball was already a fail.

you can't expect a hb to meet a corner with a full head of steam and be hit backwards. his legs were taken away from his body and it took a few yards for his momentum to dissipate as he squiggled and stretched and churned his legs on the way down.

it would've been a "great piece of open-field tackling" as the announcer said. if you need a great individual play to stop something then you are not scheming correctly.

i understand you guys are angry because he obviously almost made the great individual play but the fact that it was needed in the first place was the problem.

no it wasn't. the whole game was guys catching with the nearest defender 10 yards away, giving them time to setup a sutta step or juke move...or poor angle on an arm tackle.

you just can't grasp the fact that when a guy is moving full speed towards you and you are flatfooted its going to be nearly impossible to tackle him cleanly.

Also the fact that when the first down line is RIGHT behind you, you have to take an entire different approach to tackling. an appraoch that makes it much harder to tackle a guy and have him fall backwards instead of forwards.

if we hit him where he caught it. no way he picks up the first down. even if he fell the same distance after having his legs taken away from under him.

just face it, we were lucky last week, 4th and like forever and RW got the 1st down....some of those plays yall would of been bitchin about if they had not worked. We knew going into the season that secondary did not exist. We also knew based on last year that are D likes to give up 3rd down and forever....we had many of those last year. I dont think we could get anyone better than O'Brien. Look at the tarholes, they got Davis and other than costing them a fortune, what has he done?
