VVV SPOILER VVV

VVV SPOILER VVV

VVV SPOILER VVV

copy-paste from http://www.newsinfilm.com/2009/10/14/paranormal-activity-alternate-endings-expansion/

In the original cut, Micah runs downstairs and is never seen again. Katie emerges covered in blood and wielding a knife. She curls up in the fetal position on the floor by the bed and proceeds to rock back and forth while the timestamp cycles (for three days, I heard - Duncan). Her friend calls and leaves a worried voicemail message on the answering machine, then stops by and screams (presumably after finding Micah). The cops show up and a policeman makes his way upstairs. Katie snaps out of her comatose state and in her confusion she advances with the knife, prompting the panicked police to fire on her.
Peli even shot a third ending where Katie returns knife in hand and in her possessed state slits her throat in front of the camera. Pretty gruesome stuff for a movie that barely includes blood before that moment.

Just watched it. Probably the best horror/suspense/scary movie I have seen this year. They do a good job of getting the audience to relate to the characters. They are believable. Ending was also pretty good.

Although it is similar to Blair witch in many ways, at least the camera isn't always moving. I'd say I enjoyed this film more than Blair witch.

saw it the other weekend, pretty scary.

had a bunch of loud people in the back of the theater making commentary and really fucking up the scary parts, i was pretty pissed. kinda ruined the movie.

the girls acting was a little off at times, but for this budget pretty good! the ghost specialist guy was a pretty bad actor, but when he came that last time it was hilarious what he said.

the end was pretty messed up.

I came in here just to say that I did not enjoy the film. It wasn't scary.

SPOILER!

The "demon" shuts doors, pulls bedsheets, walks in powder, messes with a Ouija, and then the female lead gets possessed by the demon and kills the husband. The final scene is probably the only jump-worthy moment in the film. Unfortunately, the trailer showed the final scene.

Carry on.

so is the final scene the part where the body is thrown towards the camera? cause if it is, thats pretty stupid for them to show in the preview/trailer

if you honestly found this movie scary then you are a giant pussy. This movie was a crappy rehash of the Blair Witch Project with a different setting. Just a boring, stupid movie.

(as a side note, I spent $9.50 to see this tonight at North Hills. It's garbage like this that makes me download movies. I am tired of spending my hard earned money on shit like this.)

My buddy saw it tonight. This guy is a hardass. Pretty even keel guy. He called me, and said that this was by far the scariest movie he's ever seen. I'll give you some quotes of his:

"My calves, abs, and pretty much whole body was aching from being so tense"
"I don't know how they were able to capture something that terrifying on film"
"I went to take a piss, and there was no aiming in the bathroom, piss went everywhere, I couldn't stop shaking"

He was honestly about to come hang out at my place because he was by himself a home, he felt like his heart rate was still really high, an hour after getting back to his house.

Guess I'm gonna have to see it now.

What the fuck. Really people?

We are getting this scared from a rehashed Blair Witch Project?

I watched the trailers, and after a solid score on rotten tomatoes I was pretty excited about the idea of an actual scary movie, or something original at least.

Paranormal Activity was neither. It was a huge disappointment. It is EXACTLY like the Blair Witch Project. NOTHING happens for the first 30 minutes. Then a little something happens and you start to get excited. But nothing ACTUALLY scary happens for the first hour. Then some weird and fucked up shit happens. People's emotions run wild. Cue "what the fuck!" ending.

Scary, tense, believable, good... these can be debated.

Anyone that is like, "this is the scariest shit ever" needs to watch a lot more horror movies and find some balls.

Saw it last night...

I was one of the few people who got spooked from Blair Witch, still do if I watch it today. I am one of those 'ghost hunters' fans and I watch all the psychic detective shows because I think paranormal stuff is fascinating and exciting (but I do not watch the stupid 'fear' shows where they throw a family in an old castle). Amityville is one of the coolest BOOKS and the emily rose movie is pretty cool. So I was pumped to see this movie, it was right down my alley. I tried not to read too much because I didn't want to spoil any ending, and I really wanted to make sure I didn't keep thinking 'this is only a movie' like I do all the time with the slasher horror movies.

My bf and I went last night and luckily no one was really loud in the audience. But by the end of the movie I was not freaked out in the least. You were really able to connect with the couple, but there was too much information given and not enough focus or explanations. Leaving the theater I was hesitant to apologize to my bf for dragging him out to a movie that didn't live up to its hype.

But when I was finally about to say 'sorry..' he turned to me and said (with his eyes real big and his face paler than normal), 'that's the scariest movie i've seen in a long time.'

WTF? I can't sit through Halloween, Saw, or even blair witch like he can, but this movie made him creep out? I don't understand it.

It wasn't horrible, but I think I overhyped it and ultimately was a bit let down. I pushed it on all my friends since the first trailer leaked and the viral marketing started. They all loved it though, so I guess that's good.

For me, I wasn't going in expecting to be scared, so it didn't have that hype to live up to. I was going in expecting it to be comical in how they tried to scare the audience, and while it sometimes did that, the simple effects to portray the demon were very cool and well thought out. I was satisfied with it, overall.

Give it a look if you're into horror movies. I thought it was more Exorcist than Blair Witch.

There are also a lot of uptight pussies on TWW.

I thought the movie had potential. A few times I was tense and liked where it was going, but it never really escalated past that. I was continually disappointed, I kept thinking it was going to get rad but it never did.

movie would have been a little scarier if they didn't telegraph every single scare with that bass tone. It would have been far scarier if it had been silent. Hearing the low growl or whatever just told me something was coming. And they did it every fucking time.

lame movie.

I only really jumped once, and that was when the guy was thrown at the camera (I hadn't read any spoilers or anything and I honestly thought it was just gonna be her popping out)

I did think it was scary though... because I really feel like that shit can happen....

What a disappointment. Not sure this was the "scariest movie of the decade". Sure it's scary in the sense that these things probably happen to people, but to sit there and watch...I was so bored, especially for the first hour when NOTHING happened. This movie is all hype.

So if I understand correctly . . .
The bass tone was your first indication that something was gonna happen? Are you sure it wasn't that they stopped pressing the fast forward button?
/facepalm
Of all the things to complain about...

A lot of the people's reactions to this movie just really make me hate the standard Holywood movie-machine more. If the effects aren't directly in your face and overwhelming, people just don't get it.

--------------------------

This movie is very niche. It goes for the realistic approach where moviegoers get close into the minds of the main characters and experience what they supposedly do. Retards that say "nothing happened" wouldn't be saying that if that shit happened to them in real life.

Those people simply were not drawn into the movie as intended by the director. This is required to enjoy the movie. That being said, there is nothing wrong with those who did not enjoy it. As I said, it is very niche. That doesn't make this a bad movie.

I was choking on the stench from the person next to me that reeked like a mentholated cigar being put out in an ashtray that's filled with Fruit Stripe Gum.
The people in the audience wouldn't shut the fuck up. Ever.
The end scared me, the part where she's dragged out of bed and down the hall kinda scared me, and where she stands over the bed creeped, me out but that's pretty much it.

I then had to go to work right after that at 2AM in the dark and give a cat some meds.
I made saps852 come with me b/c I was being a puss

The alternate ending thats up on the torrents isn't as good imo. Was there anything after the last frame with words? I didn't want to leave, but nothing happened after 30 seconds of black screen.
