Yeah I was hoping this wouldn't be really political, but so far it seems to be that way. I'll give it a few more episodes to see if it picks up and gets better, but I'm not really sold so far.

You know, when you compare it to something like BSG, it just falls so flat.

The acting was meh. they missed so many emotions that would accompany the 'V' arrival. Do you honestly think the streets would clap after that message? More likely people would cry. It wouldnt necessary be tears of fear, but they wouldnt know what to think. They wouldnt clap. Has to be one of the stupidest moments I've ever seen on TV.

It would have been so much cooler to have at least developed the characters and situation into 5 or 6 episodes before showing that these people are evil alien lizards set to take over the world. I mean, come on. The show isnt even 60 minutes old before you let this one out of the bag.

Jury is still out on this one, but I was pretty dissapointed, and didnt feel compelled to watch a lot more.

Also, how is it possible that the CG and special effects are more believeable on a low budget BSG than this show?

I saw the original the other day, and honestly, all I can say about this remake is "MEH." There were some cool parts, but the nonsense really made it not so worth it. I mean, the bottoms of the ships are giant televisions? Oh, and OF COURSE there has to be the whole single mom plot, and OF COURSE one of the main characters needs to be an FBI agent. What made the original so cool wasn't the scifi stuff, it was the nazi metaphor, and this version already seems to be falling flat there. It seems to have completely missed what was cool about the original and tried to "update" it with special effects. Not impressed. And I usually love most scifi.

i was a little let down but will watch it.

it moved very fast for it being the opening episode. the sci fi could have been a little better and i was hoping for maybe a little more character development instead moving right into some of the heavier parts of the story so quickly.

i wish the visitors talked with Autotune or some kind of voice manipulation like the original.

the original miniseries did a better job of selling the whole "we are your friends" bit before shit started going down.

I'm still going to watch it, at least for a few episodes to see if it gets any better.

I kinda like this show.

It irks me when aliens have the same basic humanoid shape (2 eyes, nose, mouth like us), but I guess there's not really anything else they can do.

But, wasn't the show Earth: Final Conflict basically the same kindof thing?

I find it kind of hard to believe that not a single person in the show is saying "hang on a second... these aliens are from a completely different planet, they have evolved completely differently from us, yet they look exactly the same. Something is weird about that."

I mean yeah they are really reptilian with human "masks" or whatever, but the only people who know that are the conspiracy theorists, right?
