does the batter have to move out of the way so the catcher can make a play on a dropped ball?

no he doesn't

He can not intentionally impede the catcher from making a play by moving, but he has every right to stand where he is when the ball is on the ground.

I'm surprised there isn't a "how about A-Rod's extremely homosexual two handed Jeter ass-grab" comment in here

wtf was that... seriously. Jeter looked pissed about it too

were they playing Hulk Hogan's entrance song that starts off "When it comes crashin down and it hurts insiiiiyiiide"?

have they really "shocked the Dodgers" Joe Buck? Do the defending WS champs winning a game at home really "shock" the opposition?

Are you new to Craig Sager or something? He's always rocking the pastel colored sport coats, or the insane pattern/design ties.

Sager thinks he is black. He normally does the NBA as do a lot of the people that were doing the Divisional Series.

This is the first time I've seen the orange. I don't watch the NBA, so I only know him from TBS coverage of baseball playoffs. As long as he knows he looks ridiculous . . .

There were two badly blown calls in the top half of that inning

Aybar clearly got the tag in at 2nd and Swisher didn't leave the bag early on that sac fly

The umping in these playoffs in general has been marred with bad/suspect calls. I hope this spurns baseball to turn to replay as other sports have. There is too much money and hard work involved for a dumbass ump to blow a call and cost a team a series.

^yes and no

Football, to me, has become much harder to watch. I still love it and it is my favorite sport, but how many reviews are there a game? At least five most of the time. They have changed a ton of the clock rules in college because games were taking forever and I think it is mostly due to the instant replay taking forever.

I wouldn't mind seeing home run calls being reviewable because that would be quick. (nevermind, these are reviewable)

Home run calls are reviewable.

Wow...that was a hell of a missed call. I mean, just wow.

I don't know what you are talking about, football isn't hard to watch in the slightest

The bottom line is that right call needs to be made and if they have to go to replay to confirm then so be it. If you had a 252 million dollar payroll and got robbed on a bad call, would you just brush it off or would you become a proponent of replay?

Hunter just had a slick move in the outfiedl decoying Posada to go back to 2nd and tag on a hit. He ended up having to hold at 3rd when he could have gotten home easily. That was a veteran play right there.

Woooooooow. I'm thinking that call alone might be enough to expand instant replay

^maybe, maybe not but there is no doubt that the flow of the game is altered at least 3 to 5 times a game b/c of reviews. they changed clock rules and took away time from the game b/c the review time was making games take forever on TV.

i know the right call needs to be made. i am in agreement there. but refs, umpires, etc. have been a part of the game for a hundred years. if you don't want the refs to decide a game then beat their tail on the field.

so now 3 of the 6 umpires on the field have blown calls in one game alone. there's one thing to be said for judgement calls, but the high school level umpiring shown in this game and throughout the playoffs is rediculous

refereeing/umpiring is a difficult job and requires coordination and teamwork to get the difficult calls right. limited manager calls for instant replay (1/game, with a second if the first is correct) would I think make a lot of fans happy. it wouldn't slow down the game much, baseball is already a slow sport and not nearly as affected by slowdowns.

^^ Your time argument is irrelevant

If you enjoy a sport then

1) you don't mind it being on 15-20 min longer
2) you want the right call to be made

^my point is that b/c the games got longer they changed clock rules to shorten the time the players have to decide the game on the field.

i def. don't mind watching 15 min. more of football. but now i get 10 min. less of football and fifteen more minutes of watching a ref. watch a replay.

like i said, refs have been apart of the game for 100 years. i am not against replay, just the time it takes and how it disturbs the flow of the game.

^you are right about baseball being slow anyway. i will give you baseball. replay would not disturb the game nearly as much.

my argument is more directed towards football.
