Don't count your chickens before they hatch. If we suck really badly this year, some of those recruits might change their mind.

I really don't think this is the case. We really can't suck any more than we did last year, and Harrow for example has stated that no matter what Sidney is the coach that is going to get him to the NBA. Nobody is going to decommitt because we suck this year if they committed after last year...

and what recruits will that be both Zo and Ryan and LC will all be signing during the early period. Hell, Ryan will be signing his at Sammy's during the first week.
they are all doing this to show CJL how serious they are about playing here.
yes, we lost controlled scrimmage. a game where you dont necessarily need to win. this is a controlled practice using multiple line ups and the freshman got the bulk of the minutes. this controlled 5 Q scrimmage was just practice for both teams. it doesnt mean shit. by the way.... Wood went 1 for 7 The freshman played a very good Richmond team that is picked to finish in the top of the A10 that runs the modified Princeton. this is the first time our freshman have ever played against that style of offense. it was a great learning experience.
these scrimmages are closed to the public for a reason.10/27/2009 12:05:42 PM |

the thing that surprised me most about this closed scrimmage is that they kept score. anyone who's played an organized sport knows that the first time you scrimmage, you are more or less just doing a play or two at a time with heavy direction and critique from coaches. i wouldnt be surprised if he kept them from running so as to force them to run sets, and i wouldnt be surprised if on defense, he tried every potential defense despite what might be best suited for their style offense. its amazing to me that so many people on packpride are acting like this meant anything at all other than a practice with another team running a set the players didnt know already. 10/27/2009 6:25:30 PM |

PP freaked out over "losing" the scrimmage, when Thursday rolls around next week, then I think we might have a reason for flipping a shit, until then a judgment can't really be made. 10/27/2009 6:48:18 PM |

(h) Practice Scrimmage. An informal practice scrimmage with outside competition, provided it is conducted in privacy and without publicity or official scoring. Individuals other than athletics department staff members and those necessary to conduct a basketball practice scrimmage against outside competition may not be present during such a scrimmage. The institution shall ensure that the scrimmage is free from public view. No class time shall be missed by basketball student-athletes in conjunction with such a scrimmage, including all associated activities (e.g., travel, pregame and postgame activities).
So if the score was kept, it was an unofficial score. And it's probably a secondary violation of some sort that it got onto a sports show on the radio.
