So I haven't played a soccer game since some n64 soccer that had indoor as well. I'm getting the feel a little more, but shooting seems to be tough. Every time I sky it 50 feet over the goal. What am I missing? I know the longer you hold, the more power, but I haven't figured out how to bend it.

i score on pretty much every free kick on 09. jt scored one from damn near midfield at my house one night. maybe it's just completely different on the wii. the hardest part is actually winning the free kick.

I'm liking the improvements in 10. The ball's movement seems a little less formulaic and it makes the game more 'open'.

So I finally started my for real Manager Mode w/ Newcastle. They were slow and small. Was getting outrun by every defender along the outside and I had no one to stop corners and win 50/50s...

So I bought Aryan Lennon and Onyewu for a small fee (well Lennon was expensive but Guch wasn't). Much better... and Onyewu scored a goal on a corner in the first name. He's a beast in the air...

Never played in a lower division before on any Fifa...

**** And, yeah, I'm in for an online league...

one thing that pisses me off more than anything is when I have a player close to the ball and i'm about to move in it auto switches to another player almost every time that happens to be facing the wrong direction

Haven't made any free kicks yet, but I'm getting lots of breakaway runs at the keeper, at least one a game. Lots of lopsided fouls called, too.

I had one soccer game (i think it was road to world cup 06 Fifa) and I loved playing it. Admittedly, i don't know everything about soccer, but I love sports games and am wanting to play something different. Would you recommend this game for me, or is the gameplay too advanced for someone that doesn't really know everything about soccer?

its a fun game whether you know about soccer or not. It's pretty hard compared to the older soccer games, but you just have to get used to it.

I'm kind of in the same boat, and I love playing this game. The key to these more advanced games is not to fall in love with the turbo button, and focus on possessing the ball. You have to work a little harder to score, but its worth it.

the transfer system is totally different, a lot more realistic in my opinion. there's an assistant manager to help you with lineups if you want, so you don't have to change them every week when your players are tired. you can customize your tactics a lot more. i've only gotten in like 6 or 7 weeks into my season, so I can't really say what else there is. my english league 1 team, yeovil town, totally sucks, only rated 1/2 a star, but we're mid-table so far.

I had a lot of trouble signing anyone during the first transfer window with Leeds. The assistant manager is great, but it's kind of terrible at picking subs.

I couldn't sign anyone with Spurs the first window because none of the players I wanted were interested in my club. I just entered the second window so I let you know how it turns out.

Interesting occurrence happened when I tried to put a lot of the scrubs on the market, the board of directors wouldn't let me put anymore up for sale because I would "change the core of the team."

so i just popped the game in. about what i was expecting.

although i am a little disappointed. i was hoping the fans would chant the beat from seven nation army when the teams took the field. i don't know why i particularly thought fifa10 would incorporate this, but i had it in my head that they might. oh well, maybe they will for the world cup version.
