Ha ha Yankees fans. Talking shit all over the radio and on the web and you get your shit pushed in last night by Cliff Lee and Chase Utley. Maybe now you will respect the Phillies.
Chase Utley is the fucking man and the trade for Cliff Lee was damn genius for Ruben Amaro.

new Yankees Stadium is same field dimensions as old stadium. and many stadiums around the league have similar dimensions so i'm not sure where your "fucking joke" comment is coming from. according to that logic, all stadiums with similar dimensions are jokes to you. 10/30/2009 10:43:18 AM |

Actually, he's right about the Stadium. And while the dimensions in key areas (down the line and in the gaps) are the same, they aren't the same everywhere and the wind currents make it play MUCH, MUCH, MUCH smaller than the old Stadium. I imagine you'll see some tweaks in the coming years. Same with Citi Field for the Mets but in the opposite extreme.
Here is a comparison of the two Yankees parks if you don't believe me.

Yanks won't change shit if they win the World Series
As for the Mets, you can have a closer high wall or longer short wall
Having both makes it a graveyard for hitters

its stupid to bring back AJ on 3 days rest tomorrow. If the Yankees win tonight, I would punt game 5 with Gaudin vs. Lee, and attack Pedro with Burnette in game 6 and bring back CC in game 7. 11/1/2009 6:33:35 PM |

Went to bed after the Phillies tied it up at 4. I figured they'd (P) win it in extra innings, and 5:30AM comes early right when it should for getting up for work.
That stolen base
Glad there was a reply. I wouldn't have believed a description.

The series is going pretty much how I thought it would (I said Yankees in 5 in my original post) but I think the Yanks are making a big mistake pitching AJ tonight and Pettite on short rest in 6.
They should wing it with Gaudin/Acevas tonight and just save Burnette and Sabathia as the gauntlet for NY, with pettite available out of the bullpen to get lefties.
I think this series goes 7 now. 11/2/2009 8:33:54 AM |

completely agree with ya. tonight should definitely be Gaudin(sp?)/Aceves combination since neither have really been used at all for the WS. pitching AJ on 3 days rest has NEVER worked out for him, just have to look at his numbers. i don't understand how Girardi does not see this with all his spreadsheets and numbers. Sports guys here in NJ/NY also think it's not a good idea to go with AJ tonight; that is like guaranteeing a game 6 and i agree. but regardless, i'll still be watching tonight.11/2/2009 8:40:10 AM |

It most definitely did matter. Having Damon on 3rd base affected what pitches Lidge threw. He had to avoid pitches that had the potential to get away from the catcher since there is a threat of stealing home.
Overall, an amazing game last night! I'm really glad the Yanks won b/c I was pretty pissed off when Ryan Howard "scored" despite never physically touching home plate in the 5th (?) inning or so.
I see what you're saying Mr E Nigma, but who's to say Lee will be as sharp tonight.11/2/2009 8:42:45 AM |

Not the biggest baseball fan, but I'll watch the playoffs. In baseball are they likely to purposely lose a game just so they can win it on their home field? Maybe purposely is a bit strong. Let's say not try very hard to win it ASAP.
I'm definitely the cynical type. In professional sports that have a series of games for each matchup during the playoffs I can't help but think they'd want to maximize the number of games in their stadium because more games = more revenue.
In other words the Yankees will play to make sure the series will go 3-2, confident that they'd pick up at least one of the remaining home games for the win.

well slap my ass and call me sally, AJ actually lasted longer than i thought he would but still was a horrendous outing by him. was a huge mistake using him last night especially when Girardi had to use Aceves for a portion of the game anyway. now we just have to hope Andy is ok for tomorrow night and can keep his composure and do what's necessary for a veteran to do. 11/3/2009 8:46:17 AM |
