But it's also a lot harder to run through USF, UConn and Rutgers than it is Wyoming, UNLV and Air Force. Those teams simply aren't comparable and while TCU doesn't have a CHOICE in that, you can't ignore it either.
I mean if all else is equal should that not matter? Trust me, I'm all for blowing up the BCS to hell for good, don't get me wrong, but it is what it is right now. The teams with the tougher conferences/schedules are going to get the votes.
Don't see how TCU or Boise can get upset at anything but the current system. I don't think either got jobbed within the system.
If anything, the idiocy of preseason polls actually HELPED TCU remain 4th for so long because they started the season higher ranked than Cincy. If not for that, they wouldn't have been "jumped" because they wouldn't have been ahead in the first place.

Utah/Bama... Boise/OK and even TCU/Boise last season says to me that TCU got jobbed.
but in the current system, what's fair is fair, and what happened is the way it should have happened under the current system. 12/6/2009 9:14:43 PM |

TCU got jobbed because margin of victory was removed. They slaughtered the other two MWC teams worth a damn and had only 2 close games all year. That's what youre supposed to do to prove youre a dominant team in a lesser conference - except it doesn't matter at all. 12/6/2009 9:15:35 PM |

The BCS was better before it was neutered. The people complaining about the system demanded that first, the computers be delegitimized in the formula (so now it almost completely tied to the coaches poll), margin of victory be taken out, and the AP pulled out in a media stunt. Those are the factors that were built into the system to accomodate the instances where there are multiple solid teams like this year. 12/6/2009 9:22:44 PM |

I know that Iowa is #10 in the BCS polls, but picking them for a BCS really bothers me. They have lost two of the last three, have 2 skilled position players (QB and RB) out for the season and aren't as good as a 3 loss SEC team(LSU) or a 3 loss ACC (V-Tech)team, in my opinion. Am I wrong thinking this?

how very convinient that the two "bcs-busters" play each other and still don't get a chance at a team from a bcs conference. i guess the BCS really is protecting their own 12/6/2009 9:38:11 PM |

I'm hard pressed to think of a year where all the BCS bowls feel as meaningless as they do this year. They're just as meaningless as the bowl games that go to the 6-6 teams.
It's nice to know that there will definitely be two undefeated teams at the end of the year, hopefully there will be three undefeated teams. Nice how they scheduled Boise St. and TCU together. I guess they figure they can just ignore the winner of that game so they can crown their "champion".
The bowl selection show on Fox was terrible. That one guy trying to legitimize the BCS system... don't try it, it's not possible. Then they cut to a live feed of the schools they just screwed. You're undefeated and not going to the championship game... how do you feel? Plus that intro that reminded everyone how even one loss can dash a teams championship dream. Well now you can't even go to the big game if you're undefeated, so I guess the real thing keeping you out of the big game is one flawed system.

I understand the reason behind Boise and TCU not getting in the title game, those teams basically have to pray that all the other teams from major conferences lose at least one. What pisses me off so bad is that the BCS committee rather than give both of these teams shots to once again prove they can beat the BCS schools says... well.. if both of them are gonna get in lets just pair em against each other so even if one of them is gonna end up undefeated we can just say well look who they played against in their bowl game. I would have loved to see TCU put up against florida in the sugar and Boise at least up against Iowa in the fiesta and let GT/Cincy have the usual ACC/Big East Orange Bowl matchup. 12/7/2009 8:35:00 AM |

Is that the usual?
2005: Utah beat Pitt in the Fiesta 2006: WVU beat Georgia in the Sugar 2007: Louisville beat Wake in the Orange 2008: WVU beat Oklahoma in the Fiesta 2009: Va Tech beat Cincy in the Orange 2010: Cincy plays Florida in the Sugar
So only 2 of the last 6 Big East champs have played in the Orange Bowl. I do agree, though, that it is a MAJOR cop-out to have TCU-Boise in a BCS bowl... They should just come out and say they only want teams from four conferences to play in the Natty (Big XII, Big 10, Pac-10, SEC).12/7/2009 11:35:28 AM |

Touche I did not realize that lately the Big East hasnt been playing in the orange bowl that much. I just always thought the Orange was typically ACC vs. Big East unless it was the title game that year or one of those school was playing for the title in another bowl. Either way I mean Cincy and Florida is still a good game I suppose they could have just put TCU up against the ACC and Boise against Iowa or vice versa. I will admit though Id still rather watch TCU vs. Boise than GT vs. Iowa. 12/7/2009 4:02:49 PM |
