why?
I think she's as believable as any other character. All of her actions are justifiable, even if you disagree with them

She IS kind of an uppity bitch, but at the same time any normal person would react the same way she has to learning their spouse is a meth manufacturer.

I still hate her regardless if her actions are "justifiable". I'm on Walt's side.

The thing I don't like is that she seems to refuse to follow Walt's line of thinking. He was doing this to get a bunch of money for his family to support them after he DIES. Which, at the time, they all thought was inevitable. The character seems to put more emphasis on being lied to than what Walt was trying to do. I guess the conflict is manufactured to make the show better. She has to act so bitchy to push the show's vehicle. I guess the show would kinda suck if she was all supportive.

maybe walt will agree to do pollos' 3 million dollar deal and then she will support him...

edit: i think it was 3 million. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmj176eFXEI

It's still pretty inevitable...if the Cousins don't kill him the cancer certainly will.

Personally I think this is typical of women in general. I'm sure we've all experienced a moment where we thought we were doing something good for a female and that became mad over some circumstance rather than focusing on the intent of the actions.

I finally got around to watching it, pretty good episode

My original thought was that she was going to accept the cash and then give it all to Ted to help his company and give a big fuck you to Walt in the process... but she just went ahead and had sex with him instead

and also the cousins arent gonna kill anyone

That's a fucking stupid thing to say, in the 3 episodes they've been in so far they've killed like 15 people. They won't kill Walt this season, but they aren't just going to forget about Tuco.

most of her actions thus far were way before Walt told her why he was doing this. When she confronted him about being a dealer, they did the cliched movie/TV thing where Walt said "wait, wait, it's not what it looks like! I can explain!", but he didn't actually say anything, and she went several days without knowing what his reasons were.

Sleeping with Ted was probably out of line, but I can't say I blame her for her reaction to everything prior to that

Yeah, you're right she's fugly...I'm sure the supermodels that you're fucking blow her out of the water. She's certainly less attractive than whatever flash in the pan actress of the week you see on CBS, but she isn't ugly.

She is less attractive than what we are accustomed to on television.

And, armorfrsleep, that's not a picture Anna Gunn from Breaking Bad.

That's a picture of Elizabeth Perkins from Weeds:

^yeah, i changed the pic...it was on her website and labeled as "Anna Gunn" so I mistook it. She isn't super hot or anything, but Bryan Cranston isn't Brad Pitt so you shouldn't really expect him to have landed a smoking hot model with his high school teacher salary.

You can't change the pic!

You made an ass of yourself by looking for the hottest pic of Anna Gunn you could find and managing to pick a picture of a totally different woman.

Come on!

The world needs to know of this fail.

Not really, the picture was fucking labeled "annagunn6.jpg" or something to that effect, and she's an actress so she's paid to look different all the time. Be a bitch about it if you want, but it's not ridiculous.

So Walt is pissed that Jesse is cooking with a similar method and making an inferior product.

What was the line about "do the deal" with Jesse? I didn't know he had a deal in the works. Plus I suppose that Pollo's Chicken guy is trying to get them back together by only paying half to Jesse and the other to Walt. Very weird.

That episode really made me dislike Walt. I usually find myself rooting for him, but he was being a complete prick and control-freak. I know this is him hitting bottom, but I want like Walt, not think of him as an asshole. This was a good setup episode. Can't wait to watch next week.

^^ He was trying to get Walt to set up the deal but when he said no and flipped out Jesse went to Saul. He was like "Yeah, but you know the guy that knows the guy right?". I assumed Saul talked to the other bald guy before he met with Pollo and that's where the whole Pinkman exchange came from.

When he insta-changed his decision to make the deal I also figured it was to create conflict with Jesse and some kind of incentive with Walt?

Also I doubt the product was really inferior. It was most likely spot on or extremely close and Walt feels threatened as a cook. When he challenged Jesse with the chemistry, his responses seemed like he knew his shit and Walt just kept trying to belittle him in order to keep their relationship in check.

3 million > 1.5 million.

Anyway that's my take.

--
Well on second thought, to expect a 'chemistry dropout' pseudo-cook (PUN!) to match Walt's expertise after shadowing him for a couple of months might be a stretch, but I'm sure it's nowhere near as bad as Walt was making it out to be.

it likely wasn't that bad but Walt feels very particular about attaching his name and rep to this product because right now it is all he has.

he used to have a wife who loved and respected him - now he doesn't
he used to have a job he enjoyed as a teacher- now he doesn't

This is all he has which is why he freaked out. Someone else is trying to take that too. I can understand why he is flipping out and I don't dislike him in the least. I feel his behavior, while not entirely justified, is entirely expected from someone who is in the middle of a breakdown.

Skylar better not start using the money because then she loses the moral high ground and just becomes a whore. the moral high ground is her only saving grace at the moment.

I love Hank's character but I see him unraveling. That blue meth is turning into his white whale.

Also, Saul is my favorite character. Odenkirk plays a "criminal" lawyer very well, and his sense of humor is not lost.

spot on.

Hank was using the blue meth as an excuse because he knew he couldn't handle going back to the border, but it seems very doubtful that he will get another shot at promotion after basically refusing to go back, which in turn is going to end up causing strife in his marriage since his wife has expensive taste.

^true, though I think he also feels he has unfinished business in his local DEA office. seems to me that after the shit in El Paso he feels inadequate to handle the ruthless nature of the cartels, and thus turns his attention to the most potent meth on the market, one which threatens his very community. i would call it more of a mitigating factor than an 'excuse'.

"i don't know if there's another show where the writers are able to show such restraint, and telling their story in such a calm and collected way. At the beginning of the season, I couldn't wait for them to start cooking again. And while i'll be happy to see that, they are doing a masterful job of working through the rest of the storylines"

that's exactly how I feel, even further into the season than when agentlion posted it. We knew where the storyline was going to end up and that's what we wanted to see... but yet, the episodes still had the detail in other storylines to keep me very intrigued.

This may have been mentioned before, but has anyone else noticed/thought about whether they are trying to draw a parallel between Walt and Ted. I just thought it was interesting how they were painting Ted, a guy who "cooked" (bad pun intended) the books at work to try to keep the company afloat for his felony. Obviously their crimes are different, but both are criminals and Skyler treats their crimes in such a different manner. I don't know. It's interesting that both men in her life are criminals, but her reaction to both of them are so different. This seems to be changing.

I wonder if you feel the same way about Marlo from The Wire or Anton Chigurh from No Country...they are one dimensional but they're serving a purpose.

Overall I thought this was a very solid episode, and the tension during the showdown at the junkyard was palpable. Walt and Jessie in the RV again felt like a throwback to season 1, in a good way. Nice to see the editor guy from season 5 of The Wire as Walt's new assistant as well.

yeah, good episode.
We have all been waiting for a cook-scene, I think, and even though it wasn't at all what I was expecting, it was great nonetheless. Walt and his new partner are hilarious, although I wonder if Jesse will have to become involved again because now he's SOL. Of course, he has the DEA on his ass, so Walt will have to keep him at arms length
