^^ Suh would have been the Woodson choice, one big game is not > entire season.

Alabama must be upset that they can no longer say "We don't win Heismans, we win championships."

Why did they even invite 5 guys? It was pretty much a no brainer.

1) Alabama is an SEC team
2) Alabama beat Florida
3) Alabama is playing for the BCS title
4) Tebow had already won a Heisman

Stats don't matter, just the facts I listed.

you should probably look at his stats anyway. he dominated against every ranked team he played against

Of course, now they can say, "We win Heismans and championships. Also, we win them by a statistically significant margin."

I would love to see that on a t-shirt.

i thought Ingram deserved to win. i'd have put Gerhart a close second so i'm not displeased with the results at all.

Wow, I didn't know Ingram was the first Alabama player to ever win the Heisman. You would think with their storied history someone at some point would have won one over the years.

they had 3 qbs who were great back in the day that im not sure how they didnt win. Joe Namath, Bart Starr, and Kenny Stabler (who grew up in my hometown of Foley, AL)

[Edited on December 12, 2009 at 11:15 PM. Reason : though they prob didnt throw much as bama liked to run the ball]

[Edited on December 12, 2009 at 11:21 PM. Reason : Namath made all of 374 pass attempts in college. How about that]

no one knew who he was until he had a 4 sack game. without that his numbers dont look any better than probably a number of DT's in college football

^ i tend to agree. one good game does not a season make. no matter who the opponent is.

^^^ he was a solid DT aside from that game, but not Heisman worthy.

A pure defensive player will win in the next ten years, IMO

He'll have to be on a top 10 team, have his three best games on National TV, and not have any runners or passers really stand out

But I think it will happen

it could, but all those things happening in one season really is the perfect storm of circumstance.

Say Brandon Spikes had 15 sacks and 5 picks this year, including one returned for a touchdown with 2 minutes left to win the game vs Alabama...he could very well have won it

I think there will be 2 more near misses for defensive players as voters realize that they have just as much of an impact on the game as QB's and running backs...then finally, someone will break through, and it will start a trend of a defensive player winning every 7-8 years or so from then on

I didn't know before this year either but I'm down at Auburn right now and that's all they ever talked about this year.

Apparently 2 Heisman winners >>>> 12 National Championships.

Kiper had him #1 on his big board even before the UT game.

yeah he tends to have a lot of linemen as #1's all the time...but you arent gonna sit here and tell me everyone follows what kiper says and that they know every single joe schmoe offensive and defensive linemen throughout the entire season...

I had heard about him weeks ago because ESPN had been talking about him because he was absolutely dominating games.

^^^^ it doesnt matter one bit what Kiper had him at... that is the NFL draft board, not the best college football player draft board. Come on man!

^^ plenty of people have heard of him, that doesnt make him Heisman worthy. He only had one completely crazy game and that was the Big 12 CG

I was simply responding to someone who said that nobody knew who he was before that game. I stated that ESPN had been talking about him for some time. I don't see what all the fuss is over.
