im not saying hes not good, he is and he's effective,
mostly cause of speed, and an all around fair set of skills,
but i think he is by far the most overrated player i've ever seen,

his dribbling is garbage, most of his tricks are sloppy
his free kick is one of the worst ever, he has no power, no control, it bounces several times before getting to the keeper which may make it a bit hard to catch
his PK is just as bad, the reason he does a hop, skip, and a jump before taking it is cause he's a punk and knows the only way to score is by cheating
he was shown to be a coward at the champions league, you could tell he was gonna miss before he took it

i never have liked him and probably never will
eventually he will be shown as the fraud he really is

c. ron is to soccer as sarah palin is to politics

if you dont believe me watch c. ron's videos of him dribbling, taking kicks, and pks
then compare that to ronaldino's, zidane, maradona, etc
theres no comparison

fuck me for agreeing with this asshead

Baggio's performance in '94 was incredible

ok so you think im trolling, im not

im being serious when i say his dribbling & shooting is garbage
its all sloppy crap that goes horribly wrong most of the time, but they dont put that in the highlights

this video should help clarify what a fraud this guy is

im not saying he sucks, im saying he is way overrated

im sure maradona, pele, platini, etc would have a lowlights video too if people had more footage of them saved being bad...

im sorry, but you are not gonna win this one. even people up here who hate him and pull for other teams are gonna agree that he is incredible. that link i posted, i actually tried to count how many people he beat on the ball with moves and i got tired of counting in only a 6 minute video...that only encompassed from what i could tell 2,3 of his 6 years at man united (by the look of the jersey 2006-2008)...and he actually did a lot more moves back in his earlier years than he did in his later years at united

^^^those are supposed to be highlights?

some good free kicks, but most of the dribbling is him standing there waving his leg like a magic wand trying to make the defender disappear
and when he doesnt, he passes it away, thanks for reinforcing my point

[Edited on December 17, 2009 at 11:26 PM. Reason : .]

^how about current player, rhonaldiho, zidane, messi
their lowlights do not show them to be a fraud, and if you look up cri ron fraud, sucks, or overrated you will see a lot of people who agree with me.

people hate ronaldo because he's cocky, and had a reputation for diving in his young days. anyone who thinks hes not the best, or one of the best, is kidding themselves or knows nothing about soccer.

haters hatin cause he's that good. he goes down at contact because he was chopped all the time in the EPL cause defenders were too slow to deal with his feet. he has the fastest feet ive ever seen on the ball. rooney dives more than ronaldo does but no one calls him a fraud. ronaldo rarely went down, maybe even never with no contact. rooney has, ronaldinho has, zidane has...you cant come bustin up here saying he is a fraud. the dude won the ballon d'or and finished 2nd this year when he couldve just as easily won again....someone must not think he's a fraud you dumbass. if you call him a fraud for diving then everyone is a fraud

^wow...one game is your proof. one game. what has ronaldo done since then compared to kaka?? i think he might, just might be a shit load better than kaka since then...maybe, im not sure...but maybe.

and apparently all 42 goals in the 07/08 season were a fraud...someone put an asterisk next to this season. CR is a fraud. take back his world player of the year award too...

but im gonna check youtube...hmm, someone found 42 goals that he scored. that sounds like a high number for a fraud who only swings his legs around all willy nilly:

if you watch the video they're talking about him as a player & his whole career.
all three agree he is not a great player and say kaka and others are better than him
i most definately agree

you have been swindled by the great swindler cri ron

hey i said he was effective, just not a great player, i dont respect any of his skills, only his ability to find the back of the net.
in other words he's overrated and will be forgotten

youre an idiot. do you know when that game happened?

the 2006/2007 season...

3 fucking years ago.

kaka's career was already established. ronaldo was just gettin going

also scoring that many goals is a little more than effective as noted for how many trophies United won while he was killin it.

im not sure why i continued on with this argument after you posted this, cause either you are trolling or you have never seen the guy play outside of a few lowlight youtube videos your baseball lovin friends must have shown you:

Quote :
"his free kick is one of the worst ever, he has no power, no control, it bounces several times before getting to the keeper which may make it a bit hard to catch"

oh and these came in the champions league, the knockout stage quarter-final and semi-final:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNsWVuv_oxs

kinda clutch, and maybe "effective" as you'd like to say...

did he have a great 2007/2008 year? yes
is he one of the greats of all time? no more than thierry henry is

look at henry now, and look at herny's legacy and you'll see ronaldo's destiny

a player cannot use one or two good years to make themselves one of the best of all time, if he can sustain what he did for several more years then it will be hard to keep him out of that club

many players have had several good years then faded, Totti, henri, rooney, ronaldinho, etc

wtf you are just trying to get on my nerves and its starting to make me laugh more than mad cause its to easy to counter your terrible soccer IQ...rooney is 24 or 25 and 2nd in the EPL in scoring 1 behind drogba this year i believe..

ronaldo has been great since the end of 05/06 and still going. he has more goals in the champions league this year than games he has played. i think 6 goals to 4 games played. he is killin it at real madrid and he's been out for about a month with an injury too

these are henry's achievements, btw:

Individual

* UEFA Football Championship Team of the Tournament: 2000
* Confederations Cup top goalscorer: 2003
* Confederations Cup Golden Ball: 2003
* FIFA World Cup All-Star Team: 2006
* Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year: 1996–97
* PFA Players' Player of the Year: 2002–03, 2003–04
* European Golden Boot: 2004, 2005
* Premier League top scorer: 2001–02, 2003–04, 2004–05, 2005–06.
* Onze d'Or: 2003, 2006
* PFA Team of the Year: 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006
* FWA Footballer Of The Year: 2002–03, 2003–04, 2005–06
* World XI Striker: 2006
* UEFA Team of the Year: 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006
* French Player of the Year: 2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006
* English Football Hall of Fame: 2008
* Goal of the Season (UK): 2003
* Barclays Player of the Month: April 2000, September 2002, January 2004, April 2004
* FIFA 100

he scored 20 or more goals at arsenal for 7 straight seasons i think. and he had another good year at barca last year i believe.

while i hate totti cause he is a punk, he is still a great player...something you cant seem to grasp over individuals you clearly dont like. ronaldinho is actually starting to play great again this year so that kind of kills the faded theory

if you were to tell me i was no greater than henry was, i would be proud...that would mean at par with him, i was probably one of the top 25 players (at worst) to ever play the game.

Honorable mention: Baggio, Ronaldo, Buffon, (haha somehow I missed Maradona. Maradona honorable mention.
"Maradona good. Pele Better. George Best.")

I only read the first few posts, and am about to go back and read the thread, but L-O-FRICKIN-L.

Between taking Ronaldinho over Ronaldo and Pele being dead, this is sure to be an amusing bunch of posts.

This is not a 'World Cup' team. Everyone seemed to think it was because it was on a World Cup website, but no where does it mention the World Cup within the confines of the exercise. Best and Giggs never got to play in a WC due to their country's overall skill level, yet they were still choices. It's not necessarily fair that they be ignored, simply because they didn't have the players around them that Pele and Maradona had. I still choose Best over Maradona anyway, if only because I'm Irish and fuck that cheating little bitch.

well you can have maradona and when my ronaldo scores in headers, free-kicks, right footed and left footed blasts you can let maradona pass the ball around a lot like he did from whatever floating free-role position he played

and for the record since they stated maradona as a striker, i took Fat Ronaldo and Batistuta over maradona. i would take C. Ronaldo over giggs if he was an option

yeah for my style of team. ive got zidane out there to do what maradona did. ive got ronaldo and batigol for speed and power where both can also score headers. i dont want short guys. i like the idea/progression you see with most sports where the taller/faster/stronger guys keep getting better over years

i already mentioned all this but i cant blame you for not reading the whole thread

and keane is out there as a holding midfielder who wills his team to victory...he's prob the best ever holding midfielder to play the game

and honestly, pele had 1 good world cup tournament where i saw some highlights a few years back from it. his first world cup from what ive read he was young and was behind many other stars. his 2nd or 3rd he got injured and played like 1 game, i think the 2nd. idk. he won another world cup where he actually played great...but i really have no idea how the guy played. dont have many clips to go by. if he played against cannavaro/matterazzi/thuram etc. he would prob get destroyed

^yeah i know you posted that video last night...they were talking about C. Ronaldo 3 years ago.

The pool of midfielders to pick from is pretty limited in the holding midfielder role... I'd probably take Makelele over Keane if I was putting together a proper team instead of just all out attacking ballers though.

My main gripe with the selection process other than that..

no option for Rafa as coach!?!? wtf!
