I don't think I could sleep through a movie where motherfuckers were getting shot in the head repeatedly.
4/18/2010 9:52:49 PM
^ my thoughts exactly. In addition to the great action scenes throughout the movie, the laughs were very abundant in my theatre. Great fuckin movie overall imo
4/18/2010 11:46:48 PM
The laughs were many and well done, the action scenes were absolutely great--and I thought they'd be terrible--and the melodrama was at just the right balance of "I really don't care" and "breakdown/humor". I was looking forward to this movie and I have no problems calling it worthwhile to see. There's going to be people who can't appreciate what this film does, and it's the same people who might watch Hot Tub Time Machine and not laugh because they didn't want to seem like plebes. It was good, I liked it, and I loved the gratuitous violence.
4/19/2010 3:17:14 AM
Guess I will have to go check this one out. III
4/19/2010 10:24:03 AM
I enjoyed it immensely. I can't fathom why someone who isn't offended by it (the language, the violence, etc) would find it terrible. Smath, would you care to go into detail, or are you just trolling?
4/21/2010 7:44:37 PM
^Probably the same problem that it is for the majority of picky movie viewers, the inability to suspend disbelief.
4/21/2010 8:30:42 PM
^^honestly it is probably because I was tired and grumpy in the first place. It just didn't appeal to me.
4/21/2010 10:28:16 PM
*****SPOILERS****I'll have to admit, as much as liked the rest of the movie, the zip zoomin through the city on the jet pack was a little too 90's cheesemo for me. It looked pretty bad. I liked everything else and would definitely recommend though.
4/21/2010 10:32:43 PM
^ I completely agree with that. There really wasnt much else in the movie where it was too over the top. Except when hit-girl did the wall flip, but even that wasn't too bad. Aside from those two parts the movie was as realistic as you could hope for given the material.
4/22/2010 12:26:33 AM
Should have been focused around Hit Girl instead of Kick Ass.
4/22/2010 1:00:27 AM
^Meh, I thought it was just a little off, but otherwise a good mix. Maybe one or two more scenes with Hit Girl and Big Daddy Cage.
4/22/2010 1:42:54 AM
Totally prepared to see a plethora of chicks dressed as Hit Girl for Halloween. Wow, this movie was good. The Spill guys are spot on yet again. Needed more Hit Girl with the blade-staff thing.
4/28/2010 2:06:54 AM
I loved it!!! Best movie I've seen in a whileand I think the part where I LOL'd the most was when he mentioned Lost
5/2/2010 12:57:58 PM
Yea this is one of the better movies I have seen in awhile.
5/2/2010 1:36:35 PM
Just so its clear, Ebert isn't really upset about violence being played for laughs. He says he is, but he isn't. If he really felt that way, he wouldn't heap praise on top of movies like Pulp Fiction:http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20010610/REVIEWS08/106100301/1023What *really* offends Ebert is violence played for laughs by an 11 year old girl. That's why seriously half of his review is directed at Hit Girl instead of the title character. http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20100414/reviews/100419986And thats fine. I just wished he made it clear that his disappointment with this movie wasn't the violence itself, but the identity of the person inflicting it. If it was a fast-talking black man he would be fine. But a little white girl? Well, that's pushing it over the line....[Edited on May 2, 2010 at 3:05 PM. Reason : ``]
5/2/2010 3:03:35 PM
screw Ebert and his Stephen Hawking voice
5/2/2010 5:34:51 PM
^2 That's stupid... I liked Hit Girl because I mean, I'm sure there are many kids out there who have to "grow up fast" and not have a childhood like her. She was not only relatable in the sense that she did not have an easy life but you also have to love her for the major balls that she had and her love for her dad!
5/2/2010 6:42:29 PM
Finally got around to seeing it last night. I liked it, a little different than what I thought it would be. Girlfriend did not appreciate that I didn't tell her it was super violent before hand [Edited on May 2, 2010 at 7:29 PM. Reason : .]
5/2/2010 7:28:33 PM
It's not the violence by an 11 year old girl, it's the violence against her.
5/2/2010 8:18:55 PM
Well, I'm just talking about Ebert's opinion and his problem seems to be with the actual violence inflicted by the characters of the movie and their lack of emotional response to it (especially the character of Hit Girl):
5/2/2010 11:49:25 PM
I watched like 20 or 30 minutes of this last night.MEH.I didn't find the Hit Girl violence particularly disturbing or anything. Just really silly in a bad way. Which also describes the entire 30 minutes I watched.[Edited on May 29, 2010 at 4:25 PM. Reason : .]

I, too, saw the first trailers long ago and thought this movie looked absolutely awful and ridiculous, but after saying 'what the hell' and checking it out at blueridge, I can say that this movie blew away my expectations and I absolutely loved every minute of it.The trailers I originally saw just didn't do it any kind of justice at all.
6/20/2010 1:23:05 AM
i still maintain that this movie was terrible.

Just got it on Netflix and watched it with my wife and buddy of mine. He and I loved it, she thought it was okay, but wouldn't care to watch it again. She is one of those that thinks cunt is the most foul word in the dictionary, and she didn't like the violence from Hit Girl. But she's not into ultra-violent movies anyways, and of course my friend and I fucking loved it. It was not the greatest movie ever, but it totally exceeded my expectations. A very pleasant surprise, and I look forward to the sequel.

Thirded.Just saw it. Hated it.
8/12/2010 3:19:28 AM
Bought it day 1 on Blu-Ray. I heart this movie
8/12/2010 8:30:53 AM
Not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but Red Mist's new name in Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall will be The Mother Fucker.. haha[Edited on August 16, 2010 at 11:03 PM. Reason : and btw, I'm watching it now, and I, too, heart this movie]
8/16/2010 11:02:53 PM
wowow. expected complete shit but let a friend talk me into watching it. I figured o waht the heck i'll fall asleep on it.LOOOOOOOVED IThit girl is my favorite movie character EVER.
8/29/2010 3:05:01 AM
"Show's over mother fuckers"I actually liked it. It was different. Not sure that it warranted a sequel, but I'll probably check it out.
8/30/2010 1:09:47 PM
Just saw it this weekend on bluray. Decent movie, but I'm not going to say it was that intelligent of a movie. This plot has been done before. This one is just done better than the others. Action scenes were top-notch, but that was probably because it was over compensated for by the ridiculously cute and awesome Hit Girl.
8/30/2010 2:37:37 PM
definitely surpassed my expectations... I liked it. Worth a netflix mailer
8/30/2010 2:42:56 PM
This movie made my dick hard. 4 stars.
10/3/2010 12:34:09 AM
^So you must have really liked Hit Girl.I'm not sure how I feel about that man.
10/3/2010 12:48:20 AM
watching it right now can't wait to be Hit-Girl
10/3/2010 2:02:54 AM
ttt
12/29/2010 8:18:18 PM
By coincidence, I watched this movie tonight. Pretty damn funny.
12/29/2010 9:27:11 PM
Wife got it for me on Bluray for Christmas. Love this movie. Hate Nic Cage though. He's just retarded.
12/30/2010 9:17:16 AM
You're just retarded.
12/30/2010 9:37:30 AM
Just watched it the other day. I enjoyed it. Hit Girl was awesome.
12/30/2010 9:41:52 AM
Finally saw this on netflix. Awesome. Way better than expected.
5/9/2011 2:02:33 PM
Watched it, too. Hit Girl's fight scenes were very well choreographed.
5/9/2011 2:18:02 PM
I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.
5/9/2011 2:56:00 PM
Watched it this morning.Waste of time.
5/9/2011 11:21:39 PM
I REALLY don't understand the polarizing effect this movie is having. Personally I thought it was pretty kick ass, but there is no way it is as bad as some of you that apparently loathe it portray
5/10/2011 2:05:16 AM
I wasn't impressed
5/10/2011 2:24:09 AM
^^agreed. just watched it, and while it wasn't on the level of being some all time greatest movie or anything, it was highly fucking entertaining.
7/7/2011 12:41:56 AM
i think the polarizing effect comes from the fact that some people look at it and think the characters/plot/etc... are so so so corny and unrealistic (over the top unrealistic). almost like you feel ashamed admitting that you like it
7/7/2011 7:32:34 AM
It was 1000000x better that Scott Pilgrim.
