Rumors down here (Florida)
a lot of the kids are at a loss at what to say or do, since they can't talk to coaches because of the dead period...rumor has it this was totally unexpected and was made over the past two days over Christmas.

JMO, its really bad timing from a recruiting stand point. I believe a lot of recruits will look around. I think elam goes to FSU and I think Robert Clark ends up a Vol.

Also the rumor is Myer had a minor Heart attack or episode during the season and kept it under wraps"

I could believe heart problems being a reason. My brother also told me that their was a rumor that he had a cyst on his brain.

He retired for 'health reasons' after several 9-3 seasons and whipping UNC 6 years in a row (I think) 6 out of 7 years. I never heard why he retired. But he's still alive and doing well, never to coach again.

this seems an awful lot like Larry Brown having "health problems" when he was with the Knicks. My bet, he takes a year off then Notre Dame throws the fucking FARM his way and he takes that job.

sure they can, they have billions of dollars in their endowments. now whether they would or not is a different issue altogether, but they can certainly afford it

I honestly wonder who they will go after/get. IMO, as of RIGHT NOW, this is a much better and more prestigious job than ND. The only big up and coming coach, Kelly, is already spoken for. I don't see any of the big names leaving where they are. Boise St coach is the only one that really comes to mind. TCU coach maybe?

TCU already locked up their coach. UF has the money to buy it out, but they could get another decent coach cheaper. Plus TCU would probably ask for them to schedule a home-and-home which a lot of SEC teams don't like to do with non-BCS schools.

Boise State's Chris Petersen would probably run train in the SEC at UF provided he hires assistants that know the South and Florida. I've heard a rumor that UF has already been in contact with Utah's Kyle Whittingham who is a former assistant of Meyer's. It seems that he'd have an inside track with Urban probably advising the UF AD to check him out and at least interview him.

Whats funny is you left out the part where I said RIGHT NOW.

You can not honestly sit here and tell me that ND is currently more prestigious than UF.

I wonder how many more years of sucking total ass ND has to go through before people realize its not what it used to be. You can only live off the past for so long.

The answer is A LOT more years. I mean just think about it. There are a ton of catholics in the US and ND is like their football mecca. There are also a lot of football loving rednecks, but there are plenty of redneck schools for them to cheer for besides FU. Hell, some of them even root for teh shitty football schools like UNC

Most people only "follow" them because they hate them and like to see them keep failing. Also, some of the so called "following" is NBC forcing them upon us.

And when is the last time Florida actually sucked.

They fell off the radar with Ron Zook. And they were still pretty decent. And if you care enough to hate them, you still care.

I hate them because their fans think they are entitled to greatness because of the past. They also don't realize that they are a hasbeen program that hasn't been relevant for decades. Just because I like to see them suffer, along with most sports fans, doesn't make them an elite program.

It really bothers me when someone changes what they're doing in life because of "faith." Like, great...you're going to abandon something you enjoy doing because you're not focusing enough on a myth. Now, if it was for health reasons, that's legitimate.

i dont know why its so funny or hard to believe that a coach should retire when he is feeling that his heart s fuckin up

there have been a few coaches that keeled over due to heart problems, is it not manly or being a quitter when a dude is aware of his health?

i saw the headline and my first thought was "good for him catchin that shit early and not tryna 'tuf' it out"

its nothin to play with, its really not and i dont see what the ridicule is about

fuck football, fuck recruits, if i felt my fuckin heart doin weird shit id stop fighting immediately (well id seek the advice of a cardiologist first) but id do what i gotta do

i just noticed it was leave of absence, still hopefully his heart problems aint that bad...im just naive and take these guys at their word

why will it be complete shit?

other than tebow and nelson leaving, they are pretty much returning nearly everyone on both sides of the ball. if they can get even decent QB play, they will still contend for SEC

well im guessing that because meyer worked all this up. he knows what team he'll have next year better than anyone, and it FEELS like he has no confidence in it at all based on his reputation and how this is unfolding
