The N44 engine in the 135i and 335i will be replaced for 2010 with a new N55 engine, a DI twin scroll single turbo. It also produces 300 hp and 300 lb/ft, but with a much flatter curve, and reduces turbo lag by a lot.
The N55 will live on in a new 335iS, with 340 hp and 332 lb/ft, with an overboost function increasing torque to 369 lb/ft. Choice of 6-sp manual and 7-sp paddle shifter. It will fit in nicely above the 335i and below the M3. 1/19/2010 4:24:47 PM |

Don't know about LSD (not much info has been released about it yet).
As for the torque curve of the N44, what I read says that some of the hardcore BMW enthusiasts complained about it not being flat enough and there being some turbo lag! 1/19/2010 4:36:43 PM |

The N55 engine is more tuner friendly from what I hear, compared to the new single turbo engine. 1/19/2010 4:54:16 PM |

You mean the N44.
Yes, and that's why they are going to make the 335iS for the enthusiasts who want to tune it. 1/19/2010 5:00:47 PM |

saw a 135i in real life today. Little bit small for my taste. 1/19/2010 5:23:24 PM |

OKay the previous posts confused me. Yes, the N44.
I wouldn't mind owning one of these at some point, guess it'll be MY2009 or earlier 1/19/2010 11:52:39 PM |

hahaha, sorry my mistake. I guess my statement was too vague. OEPI1 posted about the new special 335i model. My comment was referring to the 335i. I could rock one of those if I had to get something somewhat practical. 1/20/2010 9:38:17 PM |
