I agree with that article, draft a qb in the 2nd round preferably or maybe sign someone but just make sure you have three credible options to find a working qb

and I guess I would franchise peppers again before allowing him free agency (if contract negotiations fail), but when did he say he wanted the top contract? I thought he just wanted to try a different defense

A. I don't know Bill Cower and don't know what job he would or would not take over another. I'm fairly certain you also don't know either to be stating, like fact, that you do. Cowher has stated that he wants to coach where there is a passionate fan base. That does not describe the Panthers fans.

B. John Fox is a really good coach. If I were Jerry Richardson I would not let him go without a solid agreement with a proven Super Bowl winning coach to take his place.

I think it would be pure lunacy to draft or sign another QB.

Matt Moore had a QB rating of nearly 100 this season for god's sake.

Yes, I realize he's not a top 10-15 QB in the league, but why waste $ on a third QB when we have a QB who can produce and an expensive backup who has had mild success in the league? Look we're not going to throw for 4,000 yards next season regardless of who the QB is. Let's spend that 2nd rounder on someone who can legitimately help at DT or LB.

We went 8-8 this year with one of the worst offenses I've ever seen. Our defense overachieved beyond belief given the talent they had. With an improved defense, stable o-line, a record setting RB duo, a consistent mistake free passing game we can be contenders again...

We are running out of time with the Peppers/Smith combo that has carried us the past 8 years, why not try to go for it again? Rebuilding is for losers.

Unless the coaches think Hunter Cantwell is the guy to compete with Jake and Moore for the starting job, we will draft or sign another QB

I don't mean that literally. I mean why waste valuable resources on a 3rd QB who may or may not be better than Matt Moore.

Let the fucking guy start. He earned a chance to prove he can NOT LOSE games for us which is all we will need to get our ground game/defense going.

This is the most overachieving defense Carolina has ever had. On paper we should be below average, but they had a great season. Why not let them try to duplicate their results while we pound people on the ground and address the QB situation with an efficient QB who doesn't piss games away every week?

I'm just worried that Delhomme will somehow win the starting job back despite being outplayed 100 fold by Moore.

Delhomme must look like a god in practice or something.

just looking at the numbers, Matt Moore has easily been a top-10 QB the last 4 or so weeks. 800+ yards, 8 TD, 0 INT.. sure he won't be that good for an entire season, but we don't need him to be either. I don't think there's any way he hasn't (shouldn't have) earned the job next year. Sure, if there's a 1st round QB sitting there for us in the mid 2nd rd, we should take him just for security and the future, but Matt Moore looks perfectly capable of not losing games for us.

Another article expanding on what steviewonder posted. Apparently Holmgren, Fox, and the Eagles GM all have the same agent...

Is PFT a credible source?

Exactly. He doesn't force anything and takes what the defense gives him. He'll take his shots, but seems to know when to do so. I'm fine with drafting a QB, but not with our first pick (unless somebody like McCoy falls to us).

If they shore up the DT positions, get a little more depth on the OL, and get a legit playmaker at WR to play opposite Smith, the Panthers could be pretty dangerous.

Fox isn't a bad coach and it would be hard to find someone better to replace him with. Sure, we all think Cowher is badass and I would be excited for him to coach the Panthers, but as my husband pointed out to me, it took Cowher quite a while to win a superbowl as well. That's about the only thing he has over Fox really.

I do like we haven't given him a contract extension yet. Hopefully he'll get the hint some changes need to be made. I'm still pissed about the money I blew going to the play-off game last year.

George Seifert won a Superbowl with the 49ers and crapped all over the Panthers in the 3 years he coached (his farewell tour ended with a 1-15 season). Point is ... just b/c a coach has won a Superbowl doesn't make winning seasons a guarantee. I've got no beef if Fox stays and gets an extension IF he gets back to the playoffs next year and improves from 2009.

^^^ u right. There were a few points in there where Steeler fan was calling for Cowher's head.

The Panthers are playing this just right IMO. Fox needs to have some pressure put on him. He's been stubborn to change to a fault, and it has cost the Panthers this year and in the past. If after this year he is still unable to adapt, then he should be gone. The Panthers are being fair letting him play the last year of his contract to keep the job.

Countdown just reported that Fox was given the right to void the final year of his contract if he chooses to do so.

This is the first I've heard of this, but I guess we'll find out whether he really wants to be here since he is basically a "free agent coach under contract" right now.
