james sounds like he found a loophole to lash out at Leach.

Probably a case of a bad decision getting blown out of proportion by a disgruntled player (who had the ESPN background to get away with it)

I bet Holtz goes to TT, and Leach ends up at ECU, and proceeds to kick the shit out of us every year we play them

I just saw the cell phone video of this "electrical closet" on sportscenter. All I can say is ... ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS? I think State has some dorm rooms smaller than that.

And Craig James had a little piece where he was supposed to be defending the complaints. It really just seemed like ESPN was trying to cover its ass as much as possible for when the shit really hits the fan (ie Leach's lawyers start deciding who to sue).

The truth of the matter is the little bitch probably didn't have a concussion and was faking it to avoid practice. As someone who has had a concussion a dark secluded place would be exactly what you wanted for some of the post concussion headaches etc.

Quote :
"To Whom It May Concern:

Texas Tech University and the athletic department is filled with great people from the top down, starting with the chancellor all the way down to the student athletes involved in the programs. In the football program, Gerald Myers and the rest of the administration have put together an unbelievable staff that believe success only comes from hard work and doing things right. The staff expects the players and everyone involved to buy into their beliefs, but like anywhere not every player agrees with or buys into what the coaches and program stand for. At Texas Tech the majority of the players do everything the coaches ask of them and anything possible to improve the team. Adam James is one of the few players who has never bought into what Texas Tech football was built on and in my years there with him had a negative impact on the team because of his attitude and work ethic on and off the field. Coach Leach demands a lot out of every player in the program and pushed his players and coaches as hard as any coach I have ever been around, but he is fair to every player and would never make and decision or action that is not best for the Texas Tech football program.

Before Adam James ever entered the football locker room at Texas Tech I heard how spoiled and selfish he acted in a team atmosphere from many of my baseball friends. Adam was on the baseball team his true freshman year at Tech, before he ever joined the football team, and did not make it through the baseball season because of his selfish attitude. After a baseball game in which he felt like he did not get enough playing time, but the team still won twenty to one, he came into the locker room after the game and “pouted and threw a big fit” according another player on the baseball team. A few weeks later in the middle of the season, he just stopped showing up to practices or game and quit because he was not happy about how he was being treated. One of my roommates was a baseball player on the team and many of my friends were a part of the team that witnessed all of this. These baseball players told me he was “spoiled and selfish” before he ever came to the football team. After quitting baseball he came out for football and his selfish attitude was very evident, as was his laziness. During off-season workouts he often would be caught skipping lifts in the weight room or finding ways to cut corners/get out of conditioning exercises. When we had player organized seven on seven throwing in the summer, when he would show up he was much more interested in playing his own games on the side of the field or telling people that he wasn’t going to run any routes because the coaches do not get him a “fair opportunity” anyway. During the season he was often “injured” (it usually seemed like a very minor injury that could keep him out of practice but never out of any other activity, including games) so he would not participate in some drills in practice. None of these acts were productive for our team, but the most detrimental part of Adam was his off field attitude and actions. In the locker room and away from the facility, Adam used any opportunity he had to tell other players how he was being treated unfairly, how the coaches did not give him a fair chance and how we did not have to do everything the coaches told us because they had no option but to play some of us. When I heard these kinds of things I usually tried to put an end to them but Adam pretty consistently talked bad about the coaches or down played the importance of working hard, when he was off the field. When he talked to young players or players that were usually on the scout he would explain how the coaches were not fair to certain players and only played favorites. When he talked to players that did get some playing time he would talk about how we didn’t really have to do what the coaches asked of us because the coaches had to play us anyway. And it almost always tied back to how he was not getting a fair chance to play just because the coaches were unfair. The coaches were always more than fair to Adam I felt, because he came in the game during certain formations and situations last football season, but because of his work ethic and attitude, many of the players on last years team had a hard time trusting him or relying on him because he was not always practicing and we had seen his laziness during the off-season. Adam was a kid that seemed like he had been given everything he wanted his whole life and acted like if things did not go exactly how he wanted someone was treating him unfairly or someone needed to be blamed for his failures. He was a selfish player on and off the field that was counter-productive for our team and would be for any other team.

Mike Leach was not only my head coach, but he was my position coach all five of my years at Texas Tech. I spent more time with him than any other player during my five years and had meetings with him every day. He was very hard on me and every other player in program and he held very high expectations for every player. He would push us all every day during the season and during the off-season. He felt that hard work, dedication and doing things right was the only way we could be successful and compete in the Big XII conference. He worked harder and longer than anyone else in program and was committed to winning at all cost. He would never have been unfair to a player or not played the best players he had because he wanted to win more than anything else. Coach Leach also expected us to be tough but smart at the same time. He would not pressure a kid to play with a serious injury or play when he did not feel ready to play. Coach Leach is a man that cares about his player and puts his players, coaches and the well being of the Texas Tech football program above all else.

Coach Leach is a great coach at Texas Tech that emphasizes the importance of hard work and doing things the right way so that the football program has the best opportunity possible to be successful. He, along with the administration and the rest of his staff, have built a great football program at Texas Tech that is built on the virtues and principles that give any program an opportunity to be successful. Every single player may not buy into the program’s beliefs, but Mike Leach has almost everyone on board with him and the Texas Tech football program on a successful track.

Graham Harrell "

ESPN has helped with the pussification of sports as we know it, so of course Chris James is the victim here. That big bad Leach guy wanted him to earn his spot on the field and expected him to practice and try...boo fucking hoo!

Just the same, I hope TT football tanks and Leach gets dat $texas. Honestly, I wonder where the solidarity is. What if every coach in Leach's system refused to work without him. Be some funny shit.

Bottom line: TT's AD was looking for something to throw Leach out for and this was his first opportunity.

It really doesn't sound like Leach and the Ad were friends at all. Didn't Leach just get a nice pay raise last year? Prolly a way to avoid having to pay that big check. Leach will be fine, TT's AD and the James family will take a hit though, and that's the way it should be,

Wow, I am actually surprised that ESPN interviewed Leach. But I guess they kinda had to. Also, his interview was very convincing, it was much better than listening to that asshats dad on there basically attacking him with no evidence. With all that we have now, I am pretty much 95% on Leach's side. Like he said it basically sounds like TT didn't want him to pay the $$ he was due. He genuinely seems shocked about this firing. And they seem to be firing him not over the incident, but because he appealed the suspension in court. Which to me seems like total bullshit. Sure he is hardheaded, but it seems to me if he had done something wrong, he would have just taken the suspension from the bowl game, its not like they were in a major bowl that matters. He thought he was getting suspended over something he didn't do and chose to stand his ground instead of kinda admitting he did something wrong by taking the suspension. Which I can understand.

1. Schedule Home & Home series with Texas Tech for 2011/2012 (or first 2 available years).

2. Fire TOB.

3. Hire the Pirate.

4. Profit.

The Texas Tech administration is doing a terrible job of handling this and ESPN is not helping. They should just go ahead and offer Leach $Maine to make this go away before his high powered lawyers go nuts and TT ends up having to pay $Texas.

They'll settle for a large sum, 5-7, maybe as high as 9 million. Leach gets a head coaching job making 750-1 mil a year at another school (maybe Hawaii) and comes out ahead compared to the contract extension and TT comes out ahead as well.

Though...he seems to be an obtuse fucker so he may "fight the man" even if it means risking losing a lot of money.

Leach's contract called for a $400 grand per year remaining buyout if he's fired without cause. I don't think TT is gonna settle for an amount higher than that. Which would be $1.6 million. Leach stands to be in the red comparatively after one/two seasons even if he gets another job right away.

Note: I want to point out other candidates that I like and think would flourish in the ACC as head coach of the pack. Again, NC State athletics are a joke and none of these coaches would ever consider coming to NC State but still.

1. Norm Chow.
2. Skip Holtz.
3. Frank Solich.
4. The coach from two a days on mtv.

Even if any of those guys would come here, if we aren't winning 10 games a year by year 2, you faggots will be calling for his head.

everything can be solved if we just fire the guy we have.

Right now I'd settle for anyone that could chip away at the points allowed per game average. The wins can come later.

As it stands it looks like there isn't much incentive to get excited for next year.

Well for one, I expect our coach to have the balls and stand up and say something when he sees the best player on our team (see Russell Wilson 2008 season - ACC offensive player of the year) getting repeatedly hit late, and in the head, in Columbia. He was interviewed at the half, when the game will still within reach, and he chose to say no comment on the late hits.

Its the players jobs to execute the plays and the Coaches job to get on the refs (along with other standard coaching responsibilities). No problem with how RW handled himself and the final score of 34-0 was misleading as we played really good in the first half, but I was sorely disappointed to find out our coach was a big fat throbbing vag. So yeah. I expect our coach to speak the fuck up when he sees our best player getting hit, late, repeatedly, in the fucking head, to the point where he gets concussed.

Dont even give me any shit about ohhhhh Tom OBrien is all clean cut and navy and doenst believe in complaining. Whatever. Mother fucker showed me nothing. Speak the fuck up. I would at least liked to see one of Wilsons teammates get thrown out of the game for throwing at punch at South Carolinas players for hitting Wilson late, over and mother fucking over.

Whatever. State Athletics = FML. Tuberville is another coach I would love to have representing the pack nation but seriously, shits never gonna happen.

I mean sorry that I refuse to compromise my athletic standards to mediocrity to accommodate NC State athletics. Yes - I have SEC-like standards for our football team. Basketball I will acquiesce to the Heels but we should at least be able to contend for the division (who are we kidding - conference? seriously) title on a yearly basis.

My guess - Leach to Colorado

CU would have fired Dan Hawkins after this season but they didn't want to pony up the cash. Somehow I think that the option to hire Leach might bring out the booster's money. I think Leach would happily take another job in the Big 12 - he was the OC at Oklahoma and then took TTU job. This way he could beat TTU 3 out of every 6 years.
