Give the guy a break, he's been pretty goddamn gracious and self-deprecating compared with most UNC fans.

I think a "red takeover" would be very pathetic on our part. Hate UNC more than you love NC State? Inferiority complex?
How about we just let them embarrass themselves with their pathetic turnout and then get 25000 at our game? I think a huge red turnout would just showcase how pathetic and classless we are and say nothing whatsoever about UNC.
What's an average ESPN viewer going to think when he sees red in the stands and hears booing everyplay? "Wow, those UNC fans sure do suck" or "Wow, those NC State fans sure are a bunch of whiners"?

^^^ I don't think they'd think either. I think the average person would be like "wow those NC State fans sure do hate UNC". Which would be pretty much true. Its not like our fans are going to miss our own spring game to go to theirs, now that would be pathetic. The fact that we can pack our own house and then go and pack theirs shows that we have have a better fan base, thats all. Having a supportive fan base is actually important for the program.

I completely disagree with tl. sports fans are not that dumb. only homers are.

Here's another idea on a smaller scale. get a decently large group of folks with nondescript clothing with red/wolfpack clothing underneath and do a modified version of the "WE SUCK" prank a la yale.

I wore a bunch of Duke stuff to a UNC-Houston football game years ago just to piss everybody off, it was awesome

First off, I don't see how showing up at this game makes us look like a "bunch of whiners" nor do I think any sports fans thought would be that. I think most sports fans understand rivalries and would find it amusing.

the typical sports fan isn't going to be watching the game long enough to notice that nc state fans are in the stands. at the most they'll just go "hmm i wonder why unc's fans are all in red today, must be some kind of promo" and then change the channel.

^UNC fans will think that, but in reality, I think it would really just piss them off if it happened. They'll play the same card they always do with, "You're not our rivals, you just wish you could be us, etc.," but at the end of the day it would show who really cares about football in this state.

Otherwise, any casual fan who just watches ESPN for the sake of it will probably find it amusing. The most important thing would be to show up with a lot of people, otherwise it won't work and we WILL most definitely look stupid.

it will definitely be awesome if there's a good enough turnout.

the crappy thing is that our spring game won't be televised. So even if we show up with 25k at our own game, it won't have much national significance. We'll probably get a mention in the local paper at best. (wasn't there a national poll of spring game results too this past year?)

owning their spring game would swing some of the press they're getting (and potential impact on recruiting) back toward us.... if we were creative enough with it we could have an awesome event there.

would probably need to carry in my own water and abstain from buying anything if I went.

Whatever you want to call it, it makes us look like a bunch of people who are so obsessed with all things UNC that we go watch them play even when NC State is not involved.

if we could get a nice, loud WOLF-PACK chant going at their nationally televised spring game, it would be one for the ages

k^^ or that we PWN them in football. our fans are RABID enough

^ now that's the creativity i was mentioning

my only reservation is we might get UNC a little too riled up before we try for our 4th W in a row at their house this coming season. But maybe it could work in our favor too?

Since this'll be on TV, kids are going to be watching. Maybe if there's enough red in the crowd, it'll sway one or two future recruits who are trying to decide b/n us and them over to our side. Maybe?

it certainly couldn't hurt....

hell, if people give us shit about why we're going to UNC's spring game, we can just say we're scouting for our game this year -- which is partially true too

I could see this turning into a brawl in the parking lot and looking bad for us.

Also OUR spring game is the week AFTER the UNC game. So anything we do (or attempt to do) could backfire on us one week later

I think that us just being there booing them may not be good enough. There should be some kind of orchestrated prank that we pull that makes them look ridiculous. Someone creative get on it.

As a great man once said, "I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part."

And we're just the guys to do it.

I started a secret facebook group about it and sent out a message letting the current members to try and invite as many people as possible and I have all the information up there. Keeping it secret makes it so that no UNC fan can even see it, but at the same time no State fans that aren't invited can see it. I invited the student body president and asked if he could invite a ton of people, but haven't heard back yet.

Also I don't know why in the hell some people think this is a bad idea. It isn't like we're missing our own spring game for this. We're just gonna try and embarrass UNC on national TV (and we have 2.5 months to plan on how to do so) and we can still fill Carter Finley the following Saturday.

The fact that ESPN is at their spring game when they bring 5 fans in is pathetic and NCSU fans showing up will highlight how pathetic it is. The only down side is UNC fans will be claiming all the attendance numbers for their spring game.

The group I made is secret on Facebook so that if anyone has any ideas for cheers and things like that then they can be posted on there and no UNC fan or anyone would be able to see them so at least that would be a surprise.

It'd be great if someone got on their field the night before and added a red SU to the end of the NC logo, similar to how a Virginia Tech fan put on a T on the end of Virginia's V logo at mid-field the night before their rivalry game a couple of years back.

Maybe you could also get the Duke students in on the prank. Last year they also had more people at their spring game than UNC did at theirs.

HOW ABOUT WE CAMPAIGN FOR RECORD NCSU SPRING GAME ATTENDANCE THIS YEAR - instead or in addition to this?

Its not like we can get any legitimate public cred for showing up to the tarhole game - even if it is an underhanded move by the "UNC-loving good-old-boys" at ESPN....

personally, my suggestion is that we start jumping and then along with it go "ooooooooooooo" and get louder like "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH" and then switch to "PACK! PACK! PACK! PACK! OOOOOO PACK! PACK! PACK! PACK! OOOOOOOOOOOO! POWER PACK! POWER PACK! BACK THE PACK!" and then play a loud rockin rap song or somethin. i think it would get things crazy.

i think it would work better if you keep a neutral color on and make a total ass of yourself as opposed to wearing red.

booing every play, flicking off the camera, yelling profanities, exposing yourself... you know the usual shenanigans

Ok here's what we do. We'll need a team of about 50 of the world's best mercenaries. Snipers post up around the top of the stadium in case people try to get in. Strike force comes in with a pack of live wolves to take out any security presence inside. Paratroopers fly over and leap down into the stadium from a helicopter. The paratroopers are carrying spraypaint and will then paint a red "SU" on the field. Then when they let the students in, the mercs threaten to release the wolves unless the student section starts jumping and then along with it goes "ooooooooooooo" and gets louder like "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH" and then switches to "PACK! PACK! PACK! PACK! OOOOOO PACK! PACK! PACK! PACK! OOOOOOOOOOOO! POWER PACK! POWER PACK! BACK THE PACK!" and then plays a loud rockin rap song or somethin.

I'd rather ESPN strain to keep the cameras from including any portion of the stands in their shots to avoid showing the fact that no one showed up. If a crowd of NCSU fans show up it will blow that, because in that context numbers are numbers. No one cares/will notice that a smattering of people in the stands are wearing red.
