Today's the day

Anyone play 162 game seasons without simming?

I always make it to August or so and peter out

how long does the average single player game take?

i think the last full season i ever played in a baseball game was on Ken Griffey MLB. My buddy and i spent an entire weekend (pre real internet) finding out all of the major league rosters and editing them into the game. Then spent a large majority of the summer playing through the entire season and playoffs. I believe we were the astros.

45 to an hour

Even if you're a fringe baseball game, you owe it to yourself to get this as a PS3 owner

Its the best sports game on the market...makes Madden, Fifa and 2K look like baby stuff in comparison

Ha look at these nazi rules for the 2K10 perfect game

Quote :
" * Xbox 360 and PS3 Only

* Residents of Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, North Dakota, and Vermont are ineligible

* Must be 18 years or older

* The contest beings at the turn of Tuesday March 2nd Pacific Time and runs through May 1st.

* If there is a winner they will not be announced until June.

* Must be authorized account holder of the XBL or PSN account logged into while the perfect game is pitched.

* After completing the perfect game the entry form must be completed here.

A video of the game in its entirety will need to be sent in for verification with the specifics precisely followed below or the entry will be disqualified.

* Recording must begin at least 5 seconds prior to turning on television and Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

* Recording must show the full boot up sequence of the videogame console.

* Recording must show the user logged onto PSN/Xbox Live prior to commencement of Perfect Game attempt.

* Recording must be recorded with sufficient clarity and resolution such that all text displayed upon selecting “Perfect Game Mode” is clearly visible and legible in the recording, along with the button icon which appears during an ‘Accept or decline challenge’ prompt. Prior to attempting to complete and record a Perfect Game, eligible entrants should run a test recording to insure that the recording quality is sufficient. SUBMISSIONS ACCOMPANIED BY LOW QUALITY RECORDINGS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

* Recording must be completely uninterrupted for the entirety of the Perfect Game.

* Upon the completion of the Perfect Game, a verification code will be displayed on the screen. The video recording must be of sufficient resolution such that the entire screen is visible and the verification code is completely legible.

* The video recording submission must be transmitted to 2K on a DVD using one of the following file formats: AVI, MPG, MOV, MPG, MPG 2, MP4, WMV, FLV and must be capable of fitting in entirety on a single DVD. Entrants should make two copies, one for submission, and one for their personal records. Sponsor will only accept physical copies of the recording, and all submissions become property of Sponsor. Write your Verification Code, Name, and Gamertag/PSN ID in permanent marker on your submission disc.

In addition to the video recording requirements the following gameplay requirements are necessary to avoid being disqualified.

* User must be online and logged onto Xbox Live/PSN during the Perfect Game attempt.

* User must play the game in the Perfect Game Mode under the MLB Today menu option and must use the pitcher set to start for entrant’s team that day under MLB Today menu (entrants cannot substitute a pitcher not scheduled to pitch on that day according to that day’s MLB Today roster).

* User may not pause or interrupt the game at any time during the entirety of the Perfect Game and may not engage in delaying tactics (for example, standing pitcher on the mound and not throwing a pitch or taking any game action for 60 consecutive seconds).

* User must throw a perfect game without making any pitching substitutions and must not make any mound visits with their manager during the course of the Perfect Game. Submitted games which include a mound visit shall be immediately disqualified.

* User must throw the Perfect Game using Total Control Pitching and Total Control Hitting control schemes. These control schemes will automatically be set to default when entering the MLB 2K10 Contest Mode. You may not pause the game and change them during the Perfect Game attempt.
"

I'm going to make a video and send it to them, with me turning on the TV, logging in, starting the game in 'Perfect Game' mode, throwing a perfect game into the 2nd inning...

...then BAM...slowly my penis will enter the picture from the left side.

Just so some douche at 2K will have to watch it.

I knew the default difficulty was too easy when I blasted a 420 bomb with Casey Kotchman off Ben Sheets

Moving up to Legendary this year

Curious as to why you would buy both

Once I determined one was clearly superior, I couldn't imagine going back and playing the lesser one

I created 6'11" 255 Slovenian pitcher Primoz Brezec (6'11 was as tall as you could make him)

90 mph fastball, 77 mph 12-6 curve, and 50 mph eephus are his first 3 pitches I chose

his nickname is The Chosen One

2K10 has had decent reviews so far

Most of the gripes are about My Player and fielding

Simmed stats seem a bit wonky

Pitching and hitting are supposedly A+++

I'll probably pick it up this weekend

Can those who plan on picking up 2k10 soon let me know how they like it? I'm considering buying a new PSP and getting The Show '10 for that just I can have a baseball game to play.

I LOVE baseball, but I haven't played a baseball video game since MVP Baseball 2004, one of the greatest video games ever. I keep hearing a lot of great things about MLB 10 The Show for PS3, though. Is it worth it? Is 2K10 a better game in anyone's opinion? How realistic is the simulation? I don't usually like to play out the entire seasons...I like to simulate a lot and play the role of fantasy GM, but this is only fun if the stats are realistic. Would I enjoy The Show or 2K10?

I've only pitched a couple games in My Player mode in 2K10 but I like it...its a brand new game mode that no 2K game has had, so thats obviously a good thing...but I haven't even dipped into the regular gameplay so I can't say whether or not it seems like a repackaged 2K9

But the My Player mode is pretty cool...I just started my second game in DoubleA and threw a complete game shutout...6 hits, 2 walks, 3 strikeouts...I added the knuckleball to my repertoire after giving up 2 earned in my first game while striking out 7

I can definitely see myself doing this again with a position player or two...SO FAR I would say the My Player feature alone makes this game worth buying if you don't have a PS3...although if you have 2K9 and money is tight, it might not be worth the $60 to you

if you have a ps3

there is no reason for you to buy 2k10

no reason at all

Somehow this game (The Show) keeps getting better each year.

Home Run Derby is formatted just like the real one. A+. Watch the pitches, just like real-life, the pitches vary.

This game is enough reason for any baseball fan to buy a PS3 over Xbox.

Smashed a shot into the bay in San Fran (with Aubrey Huff of all people) and it showed the splashdown and the in-stadium counter went from 50 to 51

Also played a game with the Mets and Reyes tore a hammy,, good thing it was just an exhibition

I bought it yesterday and played a game. It is fun but damn pitch recognition is REALLY hard... I strike out way too much and have trouble working the count.

Pitching is pretty darn realistic. Johan had thrown 103 pitches in 7+ innings and left the game losing 3-1 to the Nationals!

I typically wait to start my franchise until I get the full minors from OS to download... I assume that'll be about a month. I'm sort of a "prospect guru" so I know a lot of the guys who most people have never heard of.

I LOVE the realism of having a Rule V draft, 40 man rosters, arbitration (Type A/B and compensation picks), September call-ups, etc, etc...

V i have no clue... I'll just go there every so often and d/l the one that is listed in the OS minors thread.

Who's roster from OS? Knights, I'm assuming...his are the best

I'm really going to try to be more patient this year and work the count

Tired of having the likes of of John Lannan throw 67 pitch complete games against me

2k10..

hitting is hard and I'm waaaaaay too impatient. I seem to be early a lot. I don't remember hitting being this hard in 2k9.

anyway, anyone want to play in an online league? I don't know how it works and only saw it as an option in the main menu..

I would probably be down...yeah hitting is tricky but I think some of it is just rust...you just have to get your timing back after the long offseason...I hit my first 2 homeruns with my created 2nd baseman in My Player mode today...quite satisfying

I probably only had it through 3 or 4 innings...Primoz Brezec is still learning the ropes

and the perfect game thing is ridiculous...check out Slave Famous' large quoted text block above for the requirements

edit:

according to the xbox.com forums, multiple people have already thrown perfect games and sent in the DVDs...oh well

They've probably got some cheater AI built in where if you're still pitching a perfect game and reach the 9th the computer AI is guaranteed a hit. Kinda like the wacky stuff that happens at the end of Heisman difficulty NCAA College Football games.
