"On Monday, Meghan McCain fired back.

"People were saying that this is the new movement in the Republican Party," McCain said during an appearance on 'The View.' "I did not want to go [to last week's convention]. I have (a) very much different, ideological differences with them."

And she described Tancredo's comments as "innate racism."

"And I think it's why young people are turned off by this movement. And I'm sorry [but] revolutions start with young people. Not with 65-year-old people talking about literacy tests and people who can't say the word 'vote' in English. It's ridiculous.""

This is similar to stuff previously discussed, but it mentions specific questions from past "civics literacy tests" like the Tea Party opening speaker was calling for.

Yes the birther thing is probably a dead-end. But the President has refused to release many more imortant documents, ones that would shed much more light for the public on Obama's life and political foundations...

-Occidental College records,
-Columbia University records,
-Columbia thesis,
-Harvard Law School records,
-Harvard Law Review articles,
-Scholarly articles from the University of Chicago,
-Passport,
-Medical records,
-Files from his years as an Illinois state senator,
-Illinois State Bar Association records,
-Any baptism records and his adoption records.

Fine...keep that. But why hide his Harvard and Columbia papers? What harm would it cause letting us read them?

Anyone who gets this much power over us... I want to know everything about him...especially the stuff he doesn't want us to know.

like whether or not he passes the christian religion test to hold office, because faith isn't something you just espouse, it is something you have in church approved writing if it is real

Where did I say that? I want to read his political writing from Columbia and Harvard. I'd like to see his ill. senate records.

I'd like to see his papers when he ran the Chicago Annenberg Challenge foundation for four years. Up to his presidency, this was the only organization he ever ran. Terrorist Bill Ayers, who Obama claimed was just a neighbor, worked with Obama in distributing millions of dollars to grantees in Chicago wards.
The program was an admitted failure in the group's final report. I'd like to know why, but people are covering up his records and denying access on his behalf.

Seriously, just stop. I've been over this in a number of other threads but the vast majority of assassinations conducted in the 20th century were conducted by leftists and radicals, not by the right. Conservatives inherently want to preserve the status quo and are typically loathe to do something as radical as assassination. (Lynching and war are more prototypically "conservative" means of violence, but I digress)"

I was not implying conservatives are responsible for assassinations. I was commenting on this:
Quote :
"No barriers to entry. Anybody can label themselves or their actions as part of the Tea Party"

This means someone could announce themselves as a member of the movement, kill someone, and say it was in the name of the party.

Yes, I wonder what is being hidden in his records. Surely it's a long list of Marxist screeds against the commanding heights of the economy and why the workers should seize them, the same commanding heights like Goldman Sachs and AIG and Citigroup that he's been throwing money at all this time to attempt to keep afloat.

If Obama is a Marxist, he's a pretty shitty one.

I'll give you that one. He is trying to implement his marxist ideas of economic justice all the while accepting big donations from Wall Street Fat Cats...the very capitalists that marxists detest.

Obama is screwing everyone who helped him. The ultra-liberals who helped him defeat Hillary and the mainstream democrats who got him elected.

So in other words, you've never actually read Marx and just use that term because you hear it in on talk radio.

I'm gonna guess you think Lindsey Graham is marxist or liberal (same thing) too.

I just read the next Tea Party National Convention is happening this summer. It seems like a pretty quick turn around. Are they aiming for a do-over b/c of how the first one went, or are they going to stick to a convention every few months method rather than annually? Maybe the Tea Party will have better luck this time.

CPAC is about to have its convention too. Here is a partial look at their line up. "Speakers include Dick Armey, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, former Sen. Rick Santorum, Liz Cheney, and Rep. Michele Bachmann." That sort of list is the reason the right has done so poorly in 2006 & 2008. They need to shift their focus. But not towards the tea party imo.

I'd rather them stay with the teaparty thing. It puts the republican party into warring factions and it alienates voters, what more could a democrat ask for?

Did McCain refuse to release as many items as Obama. I don't recall much controversy with him. And also, the country has had much more experience with getting to know McCain than Obama. Our current president almost appeared out of thin air as far as our attention-deficit population was concerned.

Try and find anything where Obama reveals his true personal political philosophy. He has hidden almost anything that would give us any insight to his beliefs before he was a national figure.

Perhaps he is a true champion of capitalism. I'd just like to see some evidence of it in his history.

you mean the bitch and moan convention? They have no money to do anything but they can defeat a few GOP canididates in their primary. All they can agree on is that they can't agree on much. Every Tea Party group has different agenda and until they are all unified, it will help the dems. It doesnt look like that will happen anytime soon. This will result in an unacceptable GOPer running which will actually help the dems. With a lunatic fringe running on the GOP side, it will be hard for him or her to get elected*.

*Sen. Brown is not a Tea Party guy, he actually believes in things that are very anti Tea Party.....although the Tea Party claims him....lol

I agree. It is a lot easier to destroy than to create, and the Tea Party (& GOP for that matter), need to learn that lesson.

I just read that Owens is a confirmed yes vote on the Health Care Reform bill. It is going to be pretty funny if the health care reform passes by narrow margin with Rep Bill Owens (D-NY) voting for it.

He is in office because the tea partiers (including Sarah Palin) didn't think the GOP candidate was ideologically pure enough, and they trashed her & third partied her right into endorsing Owens.

Which ended up with a recent democratic victory for a national office only 4 months ago, giving a democrat a win in a GOP district that would have never have gone to a democrat otherwise, especially during an off year/special election.

Here's to the Tea Party, may they be out in force this November, and thanks for all the fish HCR.

Oh come on, Supp.

Dede Scozzafava was a liberal rino republican. After she dropped out, she endorsed Owens. She would've voted for this turkey bill anyway.

You can whistle past the graveyard all you want...every day ...November draws closer.

Hey, if want to keep looking at the red dots and assuming the GOP has November in the bag, go right ahead. But the GOP has accomplished nothing in the last year except for a reputation for filibustering, and the failure to prevent health care reform. So if you think that gives them a lock on November, well, I think you might be whistling too.

It's not really about the GOP doing anything. The country knows that the GOP doesn't have the votes to stop anything the dems want to do. November will be about payback. Payback from an angry country against the democrat party.

The democrats have let Obama put them into the bag. ...and now he throws them into the river.

People will remember ...as they are fined for not buying insurance, as employers fire people because they can't afford new mandates, as our country sinks deeper into debt, as lines get longer for worse and worse healthcare, as rationing lets gov't bureaucrats decide who gets treatment, as the old are forced to die.. .

As the country devolves into a Cloward-Piven fantasy, people will remember the one single party that forced this upon us.

What can you and your family expect right away?
By Ed Hornick, CNN
March 19, 2010 6:57 p.m. EDT
http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/03/16/health.care.immediate/index.html?npt=NP1

Quote :
"Eliminating caps: If you buy a policy, a health care company will not be able to place a lifetime -- or annual -- cap on how much they will cover. This is will be especially important for those diagnosed with serious illnesses, such as cancer, who face steep medical bills.

Pre-existing conditions: The Senate bill includes $5 billion in immediate support to provide temporary coverage to uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions. The money would help you until the new health care exchanges in the Senate bill are put into effect in 2014.

Children and pre-existing conditions: Another thing that's going to be very important, CNN Senior Political Analyst Gloria Borger said, is that there will be no exclusion of children with pre-existing conditions.

Dependent children: Your children will be covered until the age of 26.

"Children who are over 21 and may not have a job that pays their health insurance can still be on your policy," Borger said. "That's very important to a lot of families."

Small business tax credits: Those tax credits are aimed at helping small businesses buy health insurance for their employees. Tax credits of up to 50 percent of premiums will be available to firms that offer coverage, according to the Senate's plan.

Preventive care: All new insurance plans, Obama said, will be required to offer free preventive care in order to "catch preventable illnesses and diseases on the front end."

Appeals process: A new independent appeals process will be set up for those who feel that they were unfairly denied a claim by their insurance company.

Help for seniors: If you fall into the Medicare Part D Drug Benefit coverage gap, dubbed the "donut hole," you will receive $250 to help pay for prescriptions."

^While it isn't government take-overy in the same way a public option was feared to be by some, it still is going to help a lot of people right away. Who do you think the millions this will help are going to vote for? Oh, and kudos on being a deather.

Looks like it didn't work out, I was just reading about the Net Roots Nation convention:

http://www.netrootsnation.org/

Quote :
"Welcome to Netroots Nation 2010!

Much has been made of the so-called enthusiasm gap this year in the traditional media. Maybe they’re right—after all, the much-lauded Tea Party Unity Convention was canceled two weeks out due to the “Las Vegas heat.”

Thankfully, we’re not scared of a little heat. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome all 2,000 of you to Las Vegas this year for our fifth annual convention.

Since we first gathered five years ago at the Riviera, we’ve grown, organized and mobilized. In the next four days, we’ll look at issues of the day and organize for the upcoming election cycle. But we must look beyond 2010 and even 2012; we must challenge ourselves to look down the road five or 10 years to consider what infrastructure we’ll need and what long-term battles we must organize for now."

Looks like the anti-tea party Coffee Party has their own convention set up:
http://www.coffeepartyusa.com/content/coffee-party-convention-louisville-ky-september

Quote :
" * Participate in sessions with organizers from around the country to share best practices,
* Get training on dialogue facilitation, voter engagement, conflict resolution, community organizing, social media, media outreach, messaging, etc.
* Attend panels & workshops with leading experts to discuss a number of topics: Increasing Civic Participation in America, Government Transparency & Accountability, Financial Reform, Economics, Congressional Reform, Climate Change, National Security, Foreign Policy, Immigration Reform, Deficit Reduction, Federal Budget, Financial Literacy, Gross National Happiness Index, etc.
* Attend dinners, parties & mixers.
"

Interesting item for discussion...
