True, Half the world is interested in the WBC and the other half is interested in playing with flat bats at the Cricket World Cup which is also the same year as the IRB Rugby World Cup and FIFA Women's World Cup.

you're watching long distance skating. speed skating is a lot more exciting.

I don't see how people can think the winter are better. I can udnerstand liking the sports better but summer is pure athleticism. Winter is more about less athletic people that live in the mountains using tools to make events so they can have their own olympics. Its still good but thats a glaring thing about it.

Winter lacks team sports (hockey) and simultaneous races. Winter olympics is dominated by boring time trials and subjectively judge sports.

So you don't see how people can like winter better, except for the perfectly valid reason you give directly after saying that.

no you can like them better but to say its actually better is different. I like WNBA better than nfl. I like High school basketball better than MLB but I know neither are better than the others listed.

Winter. Most fave - Hockey!!! Least - Not sure, maybe curling.

Although with their weather up there it looks more like we have the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2010 Summer Olympics Lite.

I'm gonna go with winter, all the best stuff from the summer olympics you can see a bunch already, and swimming which was supposedly the highlight if one of the most boring sports to watch of all time, really I'm not sure if it's even better than curling

To me, freaks of nature like Usain Bolt, Michael Johnson, etc make the summer Olympics way more appealing. Also, I'm no gymnast, but the gymnastic events are entertaining as hell to watch. Basketball, volleyball, and swimming are just icing on the cake.

The winter olympic events just don't appeal to me, and I really have to force myself to get in to them. Do love some curling though.

I don't get how out of all the Winter Olympic sports someone can say "Mehhh. Oh, but that curling is pretty sweet."

Are you people the kind of people that only like bowling?

FWIW, I too like curling. But it's definitely not in my top three for Winter Olympic events.

Has anything cool happened yet? I have only seen cross country skiing on tv so far and that was lame.

I only watch the figure skating because I want to see a couple people bust the ice...usually if they do it once they do it several times in the program....that has to hurt!

^^^^The curling thing is cool because I've never seen anything like it. Hence the intrigue. Don't get me wrong, hockey is my favorite event by a long shot, but I do enjoy a good curl. Or curling. However you reference you.

i just really can't comprehend this. phelps' races in '08 were some of the most entertaining moments sports-wise of the year. i find a race where you actually have to put your body and nothing else against competition to be much more appealing

^Valid points, but the argument could be made in a similar fashion for the winter olympics. Take for instance the mens downhill, top three separated by 9/100 of a second. The only thing besides the skier's skill (and gravity) is ski technology which is largely consistent for all the competitors. You could compare it to the super high-tech suits that the swimmers wear.

I'll admit I like the winter games much better, so I'm obviously biased. I think downhill, superG, and snowboard cross are much more exciting than running and swimming events, due to the sheer speed and danger associated. All these sports take skill, determination, and insane conditioning, but these super-fast winter events require brass balls.

Summer is going to get even more entertaining when they add rugby 7's in 2016. The summer games will then have soccer, rugby, and basketball. You can't hate on that even if it isn't the biggest tournament in the world.

I liked Sonic & Mario at the Summer Games better than when they were at the Winter Games.
