So with the new Mario Kart and Mario Land games coming out soon, I think I'm gonna finally bite the bullet and pick up one of these. Are there any games out worth buying right now? Looks like Zelda and Starfox are the best rated ones. I've never been much of a Starfox fan. Any other games worth taking a look at? 11/4/2011 6:29:02 PM |

Nintendo intentionally delayed releasing of 3DS games as part of their marketing strategy.
Not sure how confident that makes me. 11/4/2011 8:41:25 PM |

Mario 3D's getting 8-9 review scores everywhere. Seems the first half of the game is super-easy while the rest is pretty tough. Some reviews say using the 3D feature is required to get through certain points. 11/9/2011 4:25:52 PM |

I'm really liking Mario so far. I'm not bothered at all by the 3D, which was my only concern. It's nice to have new, portable, top-notch Mario. 11/13/2011 8:33:07 PM |

I'm gonna go pick that up this week probably... I have zelda right now, and I like 3D for the cutscenes, but I can't play the games in 3D- gives me a headache 11/20/2011 10:32:29 PM |

Quote : | "Japanese and UK 3DS owners have received SpotPass alerts notifying them that the long-awaited Game Boy Advance games for 3DS "Ambassadors" will arrive this Friday. Ten games will be delivered for free to anyone who visited the eShop before the 3DS price drop -- the same people who got ten NES games earlier this year.
The full list of GBA games being handed out December 16 includes the following (newly revealed games in bold): Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare Inc. Mega Microgames, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Wario Land 4, Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, and F-Zero: Maximum Velocity.
Both the date and the list of games are identical in both territories, so we expect to hear similar news for North America soon. " |

Very nice. I'd rather have Metroid: Zero Mission than Fusion, but otherwise every game is great.
Anyone playing Mario Kart 7? I'm getting it for Christmas, so I'm not playing yet. How's the online?

OK, I've been playing Mario Kart 7 and I think it's one of their best. The courses are crazy with plenty of shortcuts (that the computer uses). They've introduced rally courses (in other words, one big long course instead doing 3 laps). Rainbow Road is pretty epic, and probably the best one yet.
CPU doesn't seem nearly as cheap. I can count on one hand the number of times a spiny shell nailed me while I was in first place. Haven't tried out online because my 3DS still won't connect to my wireless network 1/10/2012 11:05:34 PM |

As a surprise, a friend of mine bought me a 3DS for Christmas. I need things to play on it. I currently have Super Mario 3D Land and the Bit Trip Saga. When I look at Game Stop, it doesn't seem like there's much out for the system yet. 1/11/2012 8:50:08 AM |

Mario Kart 7 is pretty awesome. Maybe for my bday I'll ask for the 3D land game.
My main complaint is that 50 cc is really really easy, like I got 3 stars on the first try on most of them, and then 100 cc is markedly more difficult...I can't always even get 1st place on all the races. I haven't even tried 150cc yet cause I haven't mastered 100 cc yet. I've been playing a week and I'm having fun figuring out all the shortcuts and stuff. 1/12/2012 4:24:18 PM |

I keep getting fooled into downloading stupid games for this because they have high ratings and people are talking about them a lot online. And they pretty much so all suck. And cost $7. The iPhone has absolutely spoiled me for stuff like this. The expensive games on iPhone are $3 and most are $1 or free, and 90% of them are better than anything available in the 3DS store. I've probably spent $40 just dicking around looking for anything to make the 3DS not completely useless, and aside from Dr Mario, I haven't found anything that I would recommend to anyone. 4/22/2012 9:32:14 PM |

I was thinking today that it would be cool if they'd open up the Nintendo store to indies the way that XBLA did. 4/22/2012 10:12:49 PM |

Really sucks about the cart situation, as the kids love having the games on one card they can't lose. At least the old card will play the DS games on the older card. 12/25/2012 9:25:26 AM |

Just received a 3DS XL Legend of Zelda edition as an early Christmas present. What games are good?! I've already determined that Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, and Kid Icarus Uprising are must haves. 12/9/2013 10:42:37 AM |

Theathrythm is great if you love Final Fantasy music. A sequel's coming next year though, so you might want to wait for that. Square Enix has a game called Bravely Default that everyone's hyped for because it plays like an old school FF game. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is a lot of fun. 12/9/2013 12:54:55 PM |

So, I haven't touched my 3DS in years (not since A Link Between Worlds), but the other day I stumbled onto the 3dshacks subreddit, and found out this thing is wide open for custom firmware/homebrew/hacks/etc.
Apparently Nintendo doesn't really have any sort of actual authentication for who can download games from their servers, so there's a homebrew app called Freeshop that allows you to download literally every single game that Nintendo has put out for the 3DS for the low, low cost of nothing.
But yeah, this custom firmware is pretty amazing. You can update it when Nintendo releases a new official firmware and the hack stays intact, you can still download/play/update/play online with officially downloaded games (and illegally downloaded ones too for that matter) I really can't think of a single downside, aside from the fact that it took me about 7 hours to get it installed. I used to be in the flashcart scene back in the days of the DS, but for this, you don't even need any extra hardware. Just the web browser and a regular old SD card and you're good to go. 8/7/2016 12:31:35 AM |
