Aquemini was good, but ATLiens was the highlight of their career

ATLiens, Wheez of Steel, Jazzy Belle and Elevators is the best four-song stretch on any album since The Girl is Mine,Thriller, Beat it and Billie Jean

Aquemini and ATLiens are both awesome, but if we're being honest, Stankonia is the highlight of their career. I know that's the obvious one, but that is with good reason. It doesn't get any better than "B.O.B."

Stankonia played to the masses, but the former two are more loved by their early fans

Once Andre started singing more than rapping...I wouldn't call it selling out by any stretch, but they certainly changed their M.O.

Why is it that Q-Tip can't go an entire song without using the word 'abstract?'

Yeah, they definitely changed it up on Stankonia, and I know there is a certain camp of Outkast fans that like their earlier stuff the best. Their first three albums are definitely great old-school, straight up hip-hop albums, but I have no problem whatsoever with what they did on Stankonia. I love it all. I simply feel that Stankonia is slightly more consistent than the other two.

I'll take Aquemini over Stankonia anyday. that's simply personal preference. Both good albums, the former is just a little more laid back

Almost every track on Aquemini is bad ass. Stankonia is good, but might not even be in their top 3.

In what sense?

I love Outkast but fucking hate "B.O.B."

Total fucking B.E.P. shit right there.

Speaking of which, how about either of the B.E.P.'s first two albums?

^^Black Eyed Peas? Really? I don't see that.

As far as them in this thread, their earlier stuff isn't nearly as bad as their newer stuff, but I still don't think it's great. It's okay.

Back to "B.O.B.," though, I just think the production in that song is absolutely mind-blowing. One of the more energetic songs I've ever heard. It always gets me hyped and I'm a low-key guy. The keyboard riff and that funky solo towards the end are awesome.

You don't see how half their fans don't even know those albums exist?

Don't tell me you don't like those albums either.

I mean now I think B.E.P. are on the same level as Vanilla Ice

But up until that third album I was def a fan.

No, I get that, I meant I don't see how "B.O.B." sounds like Black Eyed Peas.

"Don't pull yo thang out unless you plan to bang" is on par with the hooks BEP has gotten rich off over the past 5 years

Its definitely not a typical outkast song, but as a one time deal, I like it and think it worked

Illadelph Halflife is the best Roots album.
Soul Food and ATLiens are the two best rap albums ever, period, and after years of listening to them both I still cannot decide between them. I've had at least 7-10 "favorite" songs off both at different times.

anyway, on to the actual topic:

Swans - The Burning World
I've seen nothing but awful reviews for it, but it's the greatest fucking thing ever.

Boris - Amplifier Worship
Don't hear as much about this one as the rest (at least I don't).

Del the Funky Homosapien - No Need for Alarm
Everybody always talks about I Wish My Brother George Was Here and, of course, the Deltron record, but I always thought this was an extremely strong effort.

Digable Planets - Blowout Comb

and if you're gonna go slept-on ISIS, it can only be this one :

GREAT call on Blowout Comb. "Jettin" is still one of my favorite songs.

Of Mineral's two albums, all I ever hear about is "The Power of Failing." Anytime I hear them mentioned it is always because of TPoF and that one always received glowing reviews while their other album gets mentioned as a side item before someone starts talking about The Gloria Record. But, their second record "EndSerenading" is by far my favorite from them.

Similar thing goes for Red Animal War. Their first of 4 albums "Breaking In An Angel" is decent and thats what everyone talks about, but their 2nd album "Black Phantom Crusades" is barely mentioned ever. If anyone talks about them its either BiiA or "Seven Year War" (the 2006 album) but BPC is the one I have listened to the most and has the best overall sound imo.

^three good ones, though I never got into Word...Life as much as I thought I would after hearing his verse on Fudge Pudge on the first Organized Konfusion record

speaking of which...everybody knows about Pharoahe Monch, but mostly for the later, solo stuff

anybody who knows this one, I'm impressed

everybody loves Loveless, but I always liked this one better

While not as good as Diary, or How it Feels To Be Something On, the Pink album, or self titled Sunny Day Real Estate is an album that I thought didn't get much praise.

I realize it wasn't really a sleeper in terms of popularity, but it might come as a surprise that Hole's Live Through This is one of my favorite albums from the 90s.
