Cool, so what should my second choice be? Any of the chicken worthwhile? Stick with the house steak tips?

I don't think I have ever bought meat that is already marinated. One of the best parts about cooking meat is creating your own marinades / rubs.

this stuff is pressure marinated so it permeates the meat.

When it went on sale, I used to buy that Butterball teriyaki marinated chicken breast like a motherfucker in college. I didn't know what the fuck I was doing in the kitchen those days and that shit was easy and tasted delicious. Paired it with mac and cheese for a gourmet college dinner...velveeta shells and cheese if I was feeling fancy. That's all.

^ lol, good call. My "go-to" gourmet dish in college was chicken marinated in Italian dressing, paired with shells and cheese. Buy the chicken breasts when they're on sale, then buy the store brand Italian dressing and store brand shells and cheese. If you splurged on the Velveeta brand, you were the man!

^^ Well normally I'd say go with the Maple Bourbon steak tips and Meat House Chicken Wings, since that would cover your appetizer and your main course. But with a BOGO, I'd go for the most expensive items. Stick with the steak tips, imo. Maybe the Maple Bourbon and the Meat House.

I ended up getting some maple bourbon steak tips and they threw in a free sampler of the meat house ones. Also got some chips and dip and some greek salad along with a bottle of wine. The lady should be happy tonight at least

I always tell people that the place is basically a one stop shop for literally everything you'd need for a party.

Not only do they have amazing meats of all varieties, but they have:

Sides (mac and cheese, potatoes, mashed potatoes)
Vegetables, salads, fruits
Chips, salsa
Breads, dips, mixes
A billion different sauces and rubs

Great beer selection of both microbrews and foreign stuff
Large wine selection too

Charcoal, grilling supplies

I recently went for the first time a month ago and have been going weekly ever since. Found some good wine and their shrimps/scallops are fantastic

I agree with the comments on spices, olive oils, and vinegars... There's a wide selection there.

I enjoyed their marinades, previously, but I also developed my own marinades that were similar. I just can't justify buying their steak tips or something like that.

I do really want to try a dry aged steak. If someone has any tips on preparations, let me know. I looked around at one point and the consensus seems to be.... No grills. Its better to do a pan sear, for temperature control and moisture retention, since it cooks it what little juices it has. Also, what about weights of cuts? A volume of dry aged steak has a lower moisture content than an equivalent volume of regular ass steak... But is it negligible with respect to the weight?

I've still never been to The Meat House even though I really, really want to start frequenting a butcher again. I looked at the prices online and was a little hesitant to give it a shot. If I can find a BOGO coupon I will definitely give it a shot.

I've gotten the dry aged beef from the meat house a few times, and it's been just as good if not better than any of the local steakhouses

i've always used the pan / oven method with great success

Those Maple Bourbon tips were on point, thanks for the recommendations there.

I'll try their dry aged steaks at some point, but outside of special occasions, I'm too cheap to do much regular shopping there. Some things are priced reasonably, but a lot of their items seem overpriced.

I like the signature Meathouse marinade for chicken breast. Threw some of that on the grill tonight and it was delicious.

I need to try this maple bourbon everybody's talking about.

I think that's where they get you. You have to pay the premium of buying the meat. Their meat isn't bad, in the steak tips, but when its marinated, you don't need high end shit.

If you are in Durham and want some quality meat you should try King's Red and White. Even the sirloin steaks I've had from there have been amazing.
