For this page:
Polls are open until 7:30 pm today
Find your polling site: http://www.sboe.state.nc.us/PrecinctFinder.aspx
I'd also just point out that runoffs are necessarily nearly ties, and typically low voter turn out, so your vote carries more weight than usual. 6/22/2010 10:09:05 AM |

Here's the Elaine Marshall official Election Night Results Party that is happening basically on the corner of campus (just past pullen park) and its open to the public. Cal's event is in Lexington I think, but Elaine lives a little south of Raleigh and works in Raleigh, so this is close to home base for her.6/22/2010 4:00:06 PM |

I was #130 at my polling place. I saw a girl I knew walking out and she said it was one of "the hardest decisions" she'd ever had to make. 6/22/2010 6:32:00 PM |

RALEIGH, N.C. — Elaine Marshall won North Carolina's Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate on Tuesday, triumphing over a rival that Washington insiders sought and supported.
Marshall, North Carolina's secretary of state, defeated former Army prosecutor Cal Cunningham in Tuesday's second round of voting. With 38 percent of precincts reporting, Marshall had 62 percent of the vote." |

I was voter 92 today, at about 6:30 PM. Both parties had a run-off in my area, and that's all we had show (out of about 1450). 6/22/2010 9:39:26 PM |

Cal's problem was that he never broke out of being a regional campaigner. He won his old state senate district, and he made frequent trips to Wilmington, but Elaine has experience really campaigning on a statewide level which was necessary for a race like this.

Too bad NC will be an easy Republican victory no matter the Democratic challenger. 6/22/2010 10:12:20 PM |

Elaine is polling within 5 to 7 points of Burr so this isn't a done deal by any means.
In 2004, when Bush & the GOP carried things, Elaine had 100k + votes more than Burr. And in 2008 Elaine had more votes in NC than the President, Governor, or US Senator. She has some real bipartisan name recognition. Combined with the anti-Washington sentiment, and Burr having been in Washington for nearly 2 decades now, she's within the margin in a way that Cal wouldn't have been & never was according to the polls. But Cal has promised to campaign with her for the rest of the election season so that will at least help in his old senate district. 6/22/2010 10:31:45 PM |

It'll be all turrists and evil mexicans come election time, and people will just check that giant R at the top of the ballot.
She did seem very pleasant at Cookout today and the few times I've met her in the past decade or so. 6/22/2010 11:27:09 PM |
