Also, did anyone see them parachute onto the deck of the Steve Irwin? They didn't think to take down their spikes that "prevent whalers from boarding." Dude almost shorted it and ended up in the spikes. 8/7/2010 4:01:53 AM |

^^ Yeah I saw that, if the guy had his legs hanging down he would have impaled himself on those crucial self defense spikes. Its worth having them there though so the evil Japanese don't board their boat and murder them all with their evil LRADs and water cannons. 8/7/2010 3:11:14 PM |

The Japanese whaling fleet has its shit together, period. The Sea Shepards are a bunch of hacks, there are two, maybe three of them that might not be insanely stupid. Aultman, Hammerstedt, and the guy who was at the helm when the Yushin 3 collided with the BB. Capt. Swift is an idiot. There is another guy who I think is named Van Horn?? that guy should be promoted to Captian- Captian Obvious. Either the producers are writing his dialog or he is mentally retarded. 8/7/2010 10:58:39 PM |

Until the international community gives a damn again about the illegal poaching of whales done by the Japanese, the efforts of the Sea Shepards are rather futile. But seeing as how people already don't care about noise pollution of ships that is wreaking havoc on the whales, I doubt much will be done about their wanton slaughter.

^^ As long as they're not killing endangered whales then no one will ever care, nor should they. Whales are just another food source, they just happen to be more cute and cuddly than tuna. 8/8/2010 1:16:05 AM |

I'm not saying they should hunt them until they become endangered, I'm just saying that the killing of whales in and of itself is no different than the killing of any other creature we eat for food. If they can hunt Minke whales without negatively affecting their population then they shouldn't be hassled about it. 8/8/2010 1:31:18 AM |

Perhaps, but from a food chain and animal hierarchy perspective clearly killing and consuming a whale shouldn't be comparable to say killing and consuming a chicken. Why don't we eat dolphins? 8/8/2010 2:13:41 AM |

^^yeah many disagree with the idea of animals being in captivity. i've talked to some who believe it's acceptable to hunt animals in their natural habitat while keeping them in captivity is cruel. i can't say i completely agree though.

You think that they would be whaling if anyone from any country that mattered was bothered by the Minke whale population? Perhaps the "powers that be" have decided that the Japanese are owed something. As all you blubber hugging would-be sea shepards may forget, a few years back they did get a couple of devastating atomic bombs dropped on them. Nuclear ass-kicking aside, the Japanese are doing what they have been doing for thousands of years, getting food from the sea. There isnt exactly room for a lot of beef ranches in a country that is only 145,000 square miles and the 10th highest population in the world. But maybe whale meat is good for you too, after all they live the longest and their infant mortality rate is half ours. And did you see that guy climb the wall to catch that long fly ball last week, forget eating your Wheaties! That boy was raised on, you guessed it, minke burgers with a side of noodles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaxpAkOWNM0&feature=related 8/9/2010 2:47:20 AM |

the target whales are not endangered and the whalers are not poaching
that and these hippies have no idea what theyre doin theyre gonna kill somebody
hell they cant even keep fuel in their boats, every episode they run out of fuckin fuel
there is nothing wrong with harvestng from nature responsibly, no matter how large the animal is. There is somethin wrong with a bunch of white hacks chasing hard working people around in a skiff damaging their equipment and literally attempting to render harvested whales totally useless by destroying the meat
and then hoopin and hollering around like a bunch of idiots celebrating when they do it
to me it is disgusting

and i laughed my ass off when the one guy nailed the throttled and destroyed the lower end of the engine on the rocks after the storm. those guys are jokes.

So twice as many Japanese fellas commit suicide every year as men in the USA. There is a LOT of weirdos in Japan, especially men, and most suicides are male. Let's face it, the guys who ARE normal and could stand a chance to further the normal development of their nation have a hell of a time finding a suitable woman to have their babies- THATS NOT DEPRESSING AT ALL. I mean, 30 some thousand people commit suicide a year in the United States. FUCK there's probably that many skilled, talented, intelligent people in Japan who cant live a happy life because their apartment is the size of a closet, the walls are made of paper, outside the front door is a vending machine selling the used underwear of pre-teen girls, and they have to take shits laying down! Wonder how many Japanese commited suicide last year? 30 some thousand!8/10/2010 2:18:22 AM |

So, do you really think that the Japanese would keep coming out each year and keep killing whales if there was not an enormous amount of money involved. They have added boats to their fleet, but they are just out there killing for fun since there is no market for them.
