I pretty much agree with this...Kenny was definitely an alpha male and a good leader, but obviously that does not translate to good cooking. But, ^ yes, he was definitely waaaaaaaaaaaay better than Alex. Fuck Alex, even if the producers are clearly trying to make us hate Alex.

And I definitely agree that Ed has become Angelo's main competition. He has been totally on fire lately, and Angelo might be the classic "red herring" with the way the show has featured him and made us think from the beginning that he's going to win. Ed, unlike Angelo, doesn't get caught up in the BS, puts his head down, and makes great dishes. And everybody in the house seems to like him, for whatever that's worth.

I think Amanda's gone, too. Her or Kevin. Also, it seems like Angelo is starting to pull a what's-her-face from last season, the girl who did great all year and then had a nervous breakdown towards the end and lost her confidence. Or the producers just want us to think that to make it interesting since he's been the obvious favorite from the beginning.

Has anyone else noticed that nearly all the chefs on those shows smoke (Top Chef and Hell's Kitchen)? Just an observation.

tiffany is eliminated. pretty shocked by that; she was doing great and the dish she got eliminated on was good, but everyone else's was better, apparently. can't believe kevin's punk ass is still on.

Can't believe Kevin won. Although, he did kick ass in the finale.

Oh well, another season done.

I don't know what it is, but I am endlessly entertained each season by the "surprise" requirement to make a dessert for the finale. Ed pretty much took himself out of contention on that course alone. He was controlling and obsessive on every course, then tells his Sous Chef to just make whatever he wants for dessert?

Its obvious he spent tons of time prepping for the asian portion of the finale. Its rather surprising that he didn't plan out a dessert.

Was never really a fan of Kevin.. He definitely won the final challenge though, so I'm glad they picked him. Seems like a lot of the time they pick someone to eliminate or win based on previous performances. You can almost sense them gearing up to kick someone off. I prefer it when it's based more on that day's performance, and anyone can win or lose on any given day

yep, thats the way I like it too

you gotta be consistent and not make one amazing dish that you can slack off on and coast to the finals

I wouldn't say that I'm glad Kevin won, but I'm not mad about it. He's obviously got skills and he pulled it off.

But I honestly don't think that Kevin's a better chef than Ed or Angelo--and I don't even like Angelo. All this, of course, is highly subjective--even if I were able to taste the food, much less judging it through a TV screen.

I agree about putting your best foot forward for the finale and that that should have a huge factor in determining the winner, but I also think past performances should be taken into account somewhat. To me, they are judging who the best chef is overall. That's the way I see it, at least. I think it's total bullshit that Angelo dominated throughout the first half of the season, Ed dominated throughout the second half winning challenge after challenge, but Kevin won (and Michael Voltaggio seemed to play a huge part in Kevin's winning dish--again, kinda bullshit).

Whatever, though...it was kind of a shitty season anyway. I liked Angelo and Ed a lot, but I did not like Kevin AT ALL, so I am definitely biased.

i think it cant be helped that past performance is considered, so it is ingrained in the decision inevitably

thats like telling a jury to disregard "that evidence" in a courtroom

^^Each contestant had a previous winner with them and Ed even allowed his to do his entire meal. I do think Kev had a bit of luck since he has worked with Mike in the past.

i didn't watch the finale because i knew whoever got mike volt was going to win...cause he can out-cook all of this season's contestants to oblivion and back. i guess it was kevin who got luck enough to get him. grats to him. this season sucked.
