Man, this assistant coach is a real POS. They pretty much destroy his credibility and pwn him in the report.

Who is the actor they mention being a mutual friend of Agency Partner A and the Assistant Football Coach?

[Edited on June 10, 2010 at 8:13 PM. Reason : Also, who do they refer to as "Top Prospect" that went to went the club with Reggie?]

According to one of the Yahoo Sports writers who has been involved in this story from the beginning, it's Faizon Love, acting as a proxy for Suge Knight:

I see why Pete Carroll bounced now.

He was in bed with an old friend who was a sports marketer that set up USC players with paid "internships" with the sports marketing firm. Carroll denies it in the report, but there is some pretty damning evidence.

"They can give a "show-cause" penalty for a coach for X number of years, meaning any school that wants to hire him has to go before the NCAA infractions committee and show cause as to why they should be allowed to hire him. It's basically a coaching ban since no school does that."

that doesnt mean shit if hte coach just bounced to take a lucrative nfl coaching job

wtf does pete carroll care about any sanctions, it will take him at least 2 yrs to get fired by the seahawks, by then any sanction would lapse.

^^^ What schools should do is write into the coach's contract that if they go on probation because of something that happened in during the coach's tenure, they are allowed to recoup some or all of the money they were paid as part of the deal. That could penalize coaches whether they are gone to the NFL or another job.

^^ BCS already announced that if the USC appeal is denied, they will be stripped of their 04 national title and there will be no recognized national champion for 2004. UNC will probably hang a banner in Kenan claiming they won.

i know it's easy to blame the coaches because they can jump ship before the hammer falls, but the AD has to have a clear idea as to what is going on with his/her school. Has USC fired their AD yet?

The best part is 4 years of probation. There is no way that Lane and Coach O can go for 4 years without committing violations and getting destroyed by the NCAA. It'll be fun to watch.

Quote :
"Mike Garrett acted as if the USC athletic program was basking in the warm afterglow of another Bowl Series Championship title, not hours removed from the announcement of severe NCAA penalties for infractions committed by the football and men's basketball programs.

The Trojans athletic director was making no apologies for his department Thursday night at the San Francisco Airport Marriott, doing his best to whip a group of Trojans supporters into a frenzy during a Northern California Trojans Club function.

"As I read the decision by the NCAA," Garrett said of sanctions that included a two-year bowl ban and the loss of 30 football scholarships over three years, " ... I read between the lines and there was nothing but a lot of envy. They wish they all were Trojans."

Garrett received warm applause when he took the podium inside the hotel ballroom, with some in the crowd standing and extending a two-finger victory salute. Garrett told the gathering that he "felt invigorated by all this stuff" because he had wondered how big the SC brand was and "with the penalty we got today I know we're bigger than life."

Wearing a dark suit and cardinal-and-gold striped tie, Garrett mingled briefly among boosters before dinner but declined to comment when approached by a reporter. Asked if he was worried about his job, Garrett patted the reporter on the chest and said, "I'm just worried about your job. You do a good job."

Later, he told the boosters, "Today I got a purpose for really wanting to dominate for another 10 years.""

What a dick.

Juniors and Seniors are eligible to transfer, I believe without sitting out 1 year. Also, other schools can contact these players to gauge interest in transferring.

"The Titans on Monday filed a lawsuit against the University of Southern Cal and head coach Lane Kiffin for “maliciously” interfering with the contract of running backs coach Kennedy Pola.

The lawsuit was filed in Davidson County Chancery Court and it claims Pola breached his contract with the Titans after being induced by Kiffin. Pola, hired by the Titans in January, was hired by USC over the weekend as the school’s new offensive coordinator.

The lawsuit states “as a result of USC and Kiffin’s tortuous conduct, Tennessee (Titans) football has been damaged in an amount proven at trial.’’

Titans officials declined comment on Monday. USC officials could not be reached for comment.

Over the weekend, Coach Jeff Fisher, a former Southern Cal player, sounded off against Kiffin, who formerly coached at the University of Tennessee, for recruiting Pola without first asking for permission to speak to him.

“I am very disappointed in Lane Kiffin’s approach to this,’’ Fisher said on Saturday. “Typically speaking when coaches are interested in hiring or discussing potential employment from coaches on respective staffs there is a courtesy call made from the head coach or athletic director indicating there is an interest in talking to the assistant.

“So I am very disappointed in the lack of professionalism on behalf of Lane, to call me and leave me a voice mail after Kennedy had informed me he had taken the job. It is just a lack of professionalism.’’

According to the lawsuit, “USC and Kiffin maliciously intended to – and did – induce Pola to breach his contract with the Titans. The lawsuit alleges “USC and Kiffin engaged in improper means in their procedure of the breach and were not legally justified in their actions.’’

According to the lawsuit, Pola agreed he would “not under any circumstance solicit discussions or entertain employment with any other person or entity during the term without given written permission to do so,’’ under the terms of his contract with the Titans. Pola was not given written consent by the Titans.

“Kiffin and USC’s actions through him were part of a course and pattern of conduct fostered by Kiffin and USC to use improper methods and means to the direct harm and damage of parties to contract, to interfere with an existing contract includes the breach thereof,’’ the lawsuit reads.

The controversial Kiffin was hired as USC’s football coach in January after serving as the head coach at the University of Tennessee for one season.

In January, Fisher hired Pola after firing running backs coach Earnest Byner, a move that raised some eyebrows, especially after Titans running back Chris Johnson led the NFL with 2,006 rushing yards in 2009. But Fisher said he couldn’t pass up an opportunity to hire Pola, who had an expiring contract with the Jaguars. Pola’s contract with the Titans wasn’t set to expire until February, 2011.

Kiffin released a statement on Saturday giving his chain of events leading to the hiring. Kiffin could not be reached for comment on Monday.

“We reached out to Kennedy Pola yesterday to gauge whether he had any possible interest in returning to USC before we moved forward with the process," Kiffin said in a statement released by USC.

“Kennedy said he would think about it and get back to us (Saturday). Once Kennedy did call back earlier today, out of my great respect for Coach Fisher I immediately reached out to Coach to make him aware of the situation. I have spoken with Coach Fisher and he now has an accurate understanding of the timeline of events.

“We realize the timing of this isn’t perfect for all parties, but this is a great opportunity and promotion for Kennedy.”

Fisher said he plans to hire Pola’s replacement from a member on his current staff."

Man, Lane just can't help but be a total dick. To beat all, Fisher is a USC alum. Brotherhood.

people only want loyalty to them and never are held to the same standard. same goes for UT...they fucked over Fulmer a year after the SEC c-ship game then all of tennessee cries after someone returns the favor of treating them like shit

kiffin might be tactless as fuck, but he's never done anything to a team that the team hadn't already done to someone else as part of their own business
