It's certainly the best way to keep their fist out of your face.

We might see this video clip in some of this election season's political ads.

"Do you support the Obama agenda?"

Now that's just going too far.

Who are these hate-mongering racists?

In a very simplified explanation, it would actually be battery. Assault = threat of violence. Battery = actual violence. And you only have to touch someone against their will for it to technically be battery. You don't have to hurt them, or intend to hurt them, you just have to intend to do the act that caused them "harm". So, if you spit on someone, it's battery.

^So brushing against someone in a bar is battery?

Technically yes, if you intended to brush up against them, or walked in a manner that was fairly certain you would make contact and they don't want you to touch them. But it's not like that would ever be prosecuted.

The allegedly unedited videos on this blog

http://freedomeden.blogspot.com/2010/06/bob-etheridge-unedited-video.html

It looks like the original was pretty true to what happened. I guess Old bob is crazy (or just an angry drunk)

Thats impossible, it must be those smartass Republican students clearly starting shit, they are clearly acting like douchebags, then a helpless old man got lured into their treacherous trap

And look how much of the video they edited out, they probably cursed him out and insulted him, then edited it out to make HIM look like the bad guy...fucking Republican punk kids

Fucking right wing wannabe activists baiting an old man...god I hate those kids so much

Yup, that's totally inexcusable behavior by any adult. Hate to break it to you, congressman, but you're very much a public figure so having people ask you if you support something in a political sense, even something as nebulous as "the Obama agenda" would not reasonably lead to you grabbing them and demanding that they tell you who they are. I hope you get prosecuted and at minimum censured by your peers.

Sadly, neither of those things will happen.
