yeah its all pretty stupid stuff, student athletes have a whole different policing system than normal people. Still, they are told the rules, so they shouldnt have done what they did (even though supposedly they were never told that you could not sell personal property until after this incident happened)

also, they arent being suspended for the Sugar Bowl game because "no competitive advantage" was gained during the rules violations
