I liked the trailer. It looks like this could have the same ambiance and environment attributes that made the first one so awesome.

if its more open world than the last one that would be nice. the first one suffered from alot of problems as a result of the relative young age of unreal engine 3 so it'll be nice to see what they can do with it now.

Looks good but it's going to take a lot to convince me that this game can be saved from the development hell it's been in.

^^ I think the closed level design was deliberate in the last game. it really gave you a sense of a confined, secret city. I thought it worked really well to set the tone

Plus, isn't enemy AI supposed to work differently this time around. I remember them saying that because of factions or something enemies won't necessarily aggro without reason. IIRC, it was during the 15 minute gameplay footage where he enters the bar.

^^individual cooridors and rooms being smaller made sense, but everytime you look out the window you see this vast underwater city that you cant get to. really the big thing was that the flow of the level design made it feel like you're always going to a new game level instead of being in a city.

like in system shock 1/2 the level design created enough backtracking and value in that backtracking that the environments seemed more familiar and real. you would think "ok i remember seeing that thing i need down in the medlab, so let me go back there" vs "ok i flipped the switches time to get in the hatch to the next area". i dont think bishock was bad, i just think it could have been better.

also it was a mostly ugly game w/ muddy textures that were super common in all ue3 games at the time. although that could have just been them being lazy and using shitty console level textures for the pc version.

either way i enjoyed the first one and am hopeful for this one.

^Don't, it's a ghost of the first one. I mean if you get it on a Steam sale sure go ahead I guess, but I bought it at full price and regretted it.

Looks like they let some folks preview the game despite pushing its release date to 3/26/13.

Looks good. Though I thought Bioshock was a really good game early on (up to the crazy guy and Ryan). After a few hours it stopped making new enemies, vomited out cash and meds, and just scaled enemy HP

Greenman Gaming is running a bundle offer that's pretty damn good. Just like with Steam Preorder, you get Bioshock & XCOM, but you get an additional game of your choice, plus the credit for future purchases.

3 Games + $15 GMG credit

Just started playing. Beautiful game, I love steampunk setting of the series. Well... the 2nd one not so much but still was good. Since I got it free with my AMD card, I bought the season pass for all the additional DLC. Here's hoping we get some mods where Liz takes her top off.

BTW, Raleigh makes an appearance right at the beginning of the game.

Seems to only do autoaves, and it does NOT save achievments if you do not reach a checkpoint. You have to redo them. 1999 mode is only after you beat the game.

^ Haha, man don't tell me you were one of those stalwarts that refused to leave XP HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

You can play 1999 mode with the Konami code.

Quote :
"In the past, Ken Levine has said the game definitely wouldn’t allow the unlock to happen through a code, but he was either joking at the time or changed his mind. From the main menu you can enter the following sequence of button presses and the 1999 Mode will appear as an option:

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A (or O, X on PS3)

On PC, it will be whatever keys you have setup for cancel and confirm actions to replace the last two button presses in the sequence."

^I gotta call BS on that. I'm pretty sure the storage of the Gamerscore and unlocked achievements are on MS' servers. They'd have to reverse the act of unlocking the achievement.

If you are still running a PC with XP... chances are that you will need new hardware.

I still can't fathom someone using a PC, which in most probable senses if you skipped Vista and windows 7, could be over a decade old as their main computer in the modern world. Even if you barely play PC games, don't really need a powerful PC or moved towards mobile devices; access to "disposable", fast and cheap PC's are everywhere. You can get a decent $400 computer that would out power most high end gaming rigs from 2006. If you shop right, you could build one yourself that would play most modern games on medium to high settings at 1080p for about $400 (not including the cost of windows license).

This was useful in fixing the mouse over-sensitivity problem:

http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/110552/is-there-any-way-to-finely-tune-the-mouse-sensitivity

---

Also, disable vsync and mouse accel, and use your gpu control panel to force vsync. Supposed to clean things up.

Refuse to leave XP? Not so much. I just never saw the need to upgrade when the system I had worked perfectly fine as-is. I built the system near the end of Vista's "reign" and there was no way I was letting that OS touch anything I owned.

Sure, I haven't been a big fan of some of the aesthetic changes Windows 7 has made, but those gripes are relatively minor and typically in areas I'm more likely to touch at work as opposed to home.

Plays Diablo 3 with max settings (ok ok not exactly a huge benchmark) and Skyrim on High. It exceeds the minimum requirements of Bioshock Infinite and is actually close to the recommended settings.

Besides, I'm guessing most of us are of the age where we had the free NCSU MSDN service when Windows XP was available for free. Who didn't get like 5 spare keys from their buddies who never used the system because they didn't care to build their own computers? I surely wasn't going to pay for Vista, and I didn't need to upgrade to Windows 7 because, well, what was the point if it all works?

Se la vi. 10 years later, there finally is a reason to upgrade the OS.

You're actually running XP 32 bit or 64 bit? If you're still on 32 I can't imagine how you're running with such little ram and if you're on 64 bit then you've got to be running into incompatibility issues with drivers and various software.

^Easy, most games still don't use more than 1-2GB of system RAM.

Quote :

No, my amazement is that most people in our age bracket tends to upgrade or get new PC's more often than once a decade, specially considering how cheap it is to get new hardware or a laptop. It's just impressive that you've held out for so long with the same system as your main PC and that you play modern PC games. I constantly build new PC's, but my PC gaming habit is on the excessive side... Plus I like having the extra dx11 features over 9.

The only kind of people who buy PC's as often as you do are old people. And even then, most of the older folks I know have already upgraded in the last 4 years to a windows 7 platform (mostly laptops for portability).
