Same here...been out for two weeks and none of the theaters within 30 mins of me have had it yet. I'm sure it will get here eventually though. I heard one of the theaters near me was getting it this weekend I just haven't seen it advertised there yet.

I thought it was very good, but not great. The filming is excellent, however. It is definitely a thriller, with horror elements.

Just saw it last night. That movie psychologically punched me in the throat. The cinematography and overall mood of the story just grabbed you from the beginning and wouldn't let go. The director definitely achieved his portrayal of someone feeling completely alone and driven to insanity by the pressure of her situation. The lesbian scene didn't hurt either hah. Seriously, this movie will affect your mind for a while

Saw this last night. Amazing. Aronofsky is bar-none my favorite young director right now. This movie is done so perfectly IMO.

Haha, good point...young-ish, I guess. I've been on board big time since The Wrestler, though.

The Wrestler came out like two years ago...?

Your sense of time is totally whacked, dude.

But it's cool.

Right...I know it did. I've really been on board with Aronofsky for about two years. That was in response to "glad you got on board," not the age thing. I think 40 is relatively young for a director. I could be wrong, though.

You couldn't get on board with Pi or Requiem?
Maybe even The Fountain (I liked it, but I know some that didn't) before the Wrestler?

^^Oh, don't get me wrong, I loved Requiem and I thought Pi was interesting. I meant to say he wasn't one of my favorites until The Wrestler. I had liked him on the strength of those two movies (haven't seen The Fountain, but it doesn't look appealing to me), but he really became one of my favorites (like top 3) with The Wrestler.

I mean, it usually takes a couple movies that I love for a director to work his way up my list. Now, with Black Swan, Aronofsky has only to contend with the Coen Brothers for the title of my #1 favorite director(s).

So far I'd say my favorites from Aronofsky rank:

The Fountain
The Wrestler
Black Swan
Requiem
Pi

I really liked Black Swan, but I have a few minor issues with the script.

The Wrestler is Aronofsky's best by a lot.

The Fountain is Aronofsky's worst by a lot.

perhaps it's not that it's fashionable, rather that it just isn't that good (at least imo). It's still not terrible though, just my least favorite of his.

Fashion just indicates a trend here, particularly with the number of people that the story did not speak to. Perhaps I'm being too critical since I found the experience so touching. This movie is very polarizing, as it carries"love" or "hate" camps. I just wonder what it is specifically that is "not good" with the film. I understand it ain't for everyone.

yea, no worries. my last post was more of a jest anyway

Like I said, it's not that I thought it was really a bad movie, just my least favorite out of his. It has been awhile since I've seen it now to be able to comment on specifics but in general all of his other movies had me engrossed the film the entire time while that one I just didn't feel as drawn in. Maybe I'll re-watch it soon since my wife has never seen it.

This movie was probably the most uninteresting and boring film I've seen in quite a while.

The entire time I was thinking this is not as clever or as deep as the director thinks it is.

Had I not been there with someone I would have actually left before it was over. And I never do that.

I'd be curious to see what movies you do think are "clever" or "deep."

I'm always impressed by a movie that can carry multiple themes and ideas and still tell its story well. I felt like Black Swan accomplished this.

I liked it better then inception.

It could have done without natalie portman crying all the time (is that the only thing she has mastered?), but great Idea and execution.

If you're worried about the amount of times someone cries in a movie I would hope you know not to blame the actress...either way I didn't notice that being a problem and think she is a great all-around actress. One of the best.
