still boggles my mind that they traded a 2nd rounder just to move up and get him. that's probably gonna come back to bite us in the next draft 8/22/2010 1:20:57 PM |

Given that after his 2nd punt return screw up, they had already replaced him with Captain Munnerlyn, his chances of playing do not look good. With that said, they'll keep him. 8/22/2010 1:28:16 PM |

in other news, TreeTwista10 has bruised ribs from diving over a seat to a make a catch during tailgating...officials expect him to be fine for the regular season opener 8/22/2010 1:55:02 PM |

that game was your typical "panthers playing like a bad college team" episode. Only this one did not star Jake Delhomme.
Armanti Edwards continues to be exposed as an all-business-driven draft pick. The only positive he is likely to provide is increased ticket sales to App St homers 8/22/2010 4:06:26 PM |

or perhaps we can let him have just a bit more time to transition to an all new position before we declare him a waste
you know, maybe reevaluate at the middle/end of his rookie year to see what he has learned?
[Edited on August 22, 2010 at 4:15 PM. Reason : not saying i think he will be any good, but please, that was his second game at WR and returning] 8/22/2010 4:14:22 PM |

the thing that makes our punt returns even more pathetic is that we NEVER put any pressure on the punter and our guys just run back almost immediately and play max blocking and we still can't get anything
and whoever posted that was the worst kick return they've ever seen may have been exaggerating but it actually might be the worst one I've ever seen, was that edwards too? 8/22/2010 4:29:39 PM |

i think they were referring to the mike goodson "catch 5 yards deep in the end zone, run forward 15 yards, run back 5, sideways 20, back 2 more and get tackled" kick return special.
a terrible return, yes, but it still doesn't have shit on the infamous chris gamble throwback against the vikings a few years back.

i'm pretty sure that gamble play was designed and called for, just not executed properly. i cant see any coach drawing a swirling line on the chalkboard and calling that a kickoff return. 8/22/2010 9:10:46 PM |

no doubt, I hope he becomes Steve Smith Jr. But by giving up next year's 2nd round pick, the front office created lofty expectations for him that he is unlikely to meet. Armanti will get plenty of chances to prove that drafting him wasn't mainly a business move.8/22/2010 9:23:55 PM |

does anyone recall the Clausen pick late in the 4th? i was kinda hammered by that point...just wondering if like his Ravens game interception, it wasnt his fault 8/22/2010 9:24:41 PM |

nah it was his fault. the pass woulda been on the money, but he didnt see the defender sliding over to cut off the passing lane. 8/22/2010 9:37:03 PM |

just dawned on me that all the panthers' preseason opponents are AFC teams
is there any method for setting up the preseason schedule? 8/22/2010 10:55:40 PM |

^no idea, but good question
i can concisely and effectivelly explain the regular season scheduling method to a moron in about 100 words or less, but i'm not really sure how preseason scheduling is setup] 8/22/2010 10:58:25 PM |

Well you gotta think that the preseason formula is going to workout so there is absolutely no overlap with the regular season for any team. But good question. 8/22/2010 11:14:42 PM |

that's not the case though, because the panthers play the AFC North this year (and will have played Baltimore and Pittsburgh this preseason)
i was searching around on this and nobody knows lol
the only thing i can deduce is that you dont play anyone in your division in the preseason, and maybe you dont go from the east coast to west coast/vice versa (dont recall any preseason games against SD, SF, Seattle, Denver, Arizona, Oakland, etc off the top of my head at least)

Also, 3 of the 4 teams we're playing in the preseason run the 3/4 defense. Kinda sucks for our Oline. 8/23/2010 9:00:27 AM |

Preseason works like college football OOC games where the owners basically agree on opponets
Most of the teams play 2-3 of the same teams every year, and the same city teams like Jets/Giants, Ravens/Skins, Niners/Raiders play every year
Obviously no coast to coast travel because its an uneccesary cost
We play Pittsburgh every year because Richardson and Rooney are good time buddies, and we used to play the Giants every year because their owner and Richardson were friends, but the giants owner died 8/23/2010 9:16:05 AM |

The Packers played the Browns in the preseason and regular season last year. They played the Cardinals three times (all at UoP Stadium) -- preseason, regular season, and playoffs.8/23/2010 9:29:04 AM |
