Philadelphia really was a great fit for Vick. McNabb was about to be traded. Kolb couldn't hold him off, the injury just expedited him taking over the #1 spot. Also besides winning, Philly fans would be more willing to accept him than any other fanbase b/c most of them have also been in trouble with the law.

Vick was already awesome in atlanta he just had no fucking weapons. They went 14-2 one year for gods sake.

I've dug up his record as a starter 100 times and its one of the better win percentages in NFL history.

The guy is just fucking awesome yet nearly everyone on the entire board has always argued that he's an average QB.

Eat a big fat dick.

serious note here. I've noticed, when Vick puts his mouthguard in, it's been a pass, when he doesn't it's a run. This has been consistent for the last 15 plays. I'll bet Washington wish they knew that before the game.

56.3%

I doubt that's in the top 40

And it's a stupid stat, just like I told you four years ago

2005- Vick was not a very good QB. Rallydurham makes a bunch of unconvincing arguments about him being a "winner" despite his crappy stats.

2010 - Vick has become a really good QB. Everyone acknowledges it and he has the stats to back it up. Rallydurham tries to argue he was right all along.

Quote :
"Report: Michael Vick Getting Confident Enough To Do Something Terrible Again

PHILADELPHIA—Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who on Wednesday added an NFC Player of the Week award to the Player of the Month honors he received in September, has regained his former confidence to the point that he will soon be ready to commit a horrifying act, sources close to Vick said Friday. "Clearly he's playing like the electrifying Michael Vick of five years ago, the quarterback who was selected to three Pro Bowls, handed the Packers their first-ever home playoff loss, and had the bald arrogance to kill underperforming fighting dogs with his bare hands and think he would get away with it," said an Eagles staffer who was "astounded and impressed" that Vick also leads the NFL in passer rating and asked not to be identified for fear of retribution. "Every team in the league, and every member of civilized society, has seen what Vick is capable of when he's playing like this." Regardless of his performance on or off the field this season, Vick will be mentored by Tony Dungy."

This x 2.

You were wrong five years ago. You would be right now. He's actually become a good passer, which makes his other skills that much scarier.

And to the person who said he never throws to his tight end...he basically only threw to Alge Crumpler back in the day. He just has too many other weapons in Philly. Why throw to Celek when you can throw to McCoy, Jackson, and Maclin?

I believe the thread you're looking for is in the soap box.

I don't think anyone here is stoked about what he did to those dogs, but that isn't what this thread is about. I don't think he deserves to go down in history as one of the best people ever, but he's absolutely killing it on the football field. He's an exciting player to watch, I'm glad to be able to watch him. He claims to be a different person now, but he is sure as fuck a different player now. This thread is about his performance on the field.

Plus, the dude got me 49 fantasy points last night.

(OJ Simpson was a murdering lunatic, but that doesn't mean he wasn't one of the best tailbacks of all time ever.)

I'm not looking to turn this into a debate over his criminal acts, because there's no debate to be had there. I'm entitled to whatever opinion I want to have about him (which I'll post wherever the fuck I feel like), and as a huge Redskins fan, I choose to not give a shit about his current success on the football field, and in fact, I choose to be especially bitter and angry after last night.

Would I have him on my fantasy team if he was available? Sure. Will I ever cheer the guy for making a (so far) successful return to football after what he did? Absolutely not. I really don't give a shit if he breaks every passing record in the league (which he won't).

Perhaps if he ever puts on a Redskins jersey, or ends up on my fantasy roster, the most I could hope for is to be indifferent, but nothing more.

i, too, am a redskins fan, and i can't say that vick wasn't impressive last night. he'll certainly go down as one of the top two federal criminals ever to play in the NFL

he's paid his debt to society though, probably more than that considering the whole awareness of dogfighting effect.

i'd almost be happy about last night, as the redskins were exposed and bitchmade from daniel snyder on down, except for the fact that daniel snyder never learns anything and i don't expect things to change until the owner does

I know they are two different sports, but his entire reasoning is so off here. He is such a statistics guy when it comes to the NBA yet relies totally on emotion with the NFL.

well damn. some people just never learn.

I hated on Vick when he was at Atlanta and thought he was a mediocre QB at best. Mostly because I'm a Panthers fan. However, I certainly wanted him when he came back and he has turned into a fantastic QB, far better than he was in Atlanta. That performance last night was just phenomenal. I would never hire him to look after my dogs, but I would certainly hire him to be my QB. He is also one of the few that I honestly feel has learned from their mistakes and is making an honest effort to change.

^yeah pretty much

i HATED him when he was with the Falcons, because as a Panthers fan, I got used to him singlehandedly beating us twice a year...at least until we figured out that putting Thomas Davis as a spy would pretty much shut him down

But I'm kind of cheering for him this year, because while his passing game is much, much better than it ever has been, he seems to me to really be leading a different type of life, and you have to respect that

I think after his first touchdown pass for the Eagles, the first thing he did was run up to the lineman and hug/ass slap them. It was pretty rad to see how happy he looked with them.

I imagine no one in the NFL appreciates the opportunity more than he does right now. He's lucky as shit to be in this situation, and I don't think he's oblivious to that.

I'll be interested to see if he stays with his new throw-first mentality after he gets beat up a few times, or if he reverts to his Steamin' Willie Beamon run first and ask questions later style of play

NYM you are a pretty intelligent guy and sports fan so I'm surprised the difference isnt more apparent to you but I'll give a simple explanation.

Football is a schematic sport, not a statistical one. Stats play a fairly small role in explaining wins, performance etc...

Baseball on the other hand is almost a pure statistical sport. Watching it doesn't really matter, statistics really tell you 99% of what you need to know. In fact, watching it does more harm than good in evaluation because anecdotes tend to skew reality.

NBA basketball is mostly statistical with a small amount of schematics. College basketball is much more schematic than the NBA which is why we need to watch a lot more college games than we do the NBA which can be pretty thoroughly evaluated through box scores.

I understand most of you aren't economists or statisticians or in some cases even intelligent humans so you don't really understand the science behind sports and perhaps that's a good thing because the inherent randomness in statistics probably makes the sport much more enjoyable for casual observers than for people who study them.

Some people would rather just know what time it is than what makes the watch tick. I can appreciate that. But the typical human doesn't argue with people that know more than them about a specific subject. Sports is an anomaly in that regard as all kinds of yahoos will furiously debate things they know very little about.

Case in point, the Vick threads.
