I think it's fairly decent. It doesn't really stand out too much but it could be a lot worse.

i've got the entire second session backlogged on my dvr. wife and i have been in call of duty mode lately, so i'm not sure they'll ever get watched

it's kinda sad because there hasn't been a show since 24 that i eagerly awaited each week. network tv sucks

It's gotten good recently, bit I've gotta go on a rant here for a bit.

Two episodes ago where the attack helicopter blew up 2 out of the 3 buses I was pretty pissed off. Since when does it take 2-3 minutes delay in between firing missiles at buses? That's the biggest load of bullshit I've ever seen and it was (obviously) done so that one bus could "escape".

Fuck you, show writers!

^Tis true, an attack helicopter like that could easily launch more than three missiles all at once that could each take out a bus almost instantly.

Cancelled, though there is some chatter about Netflix or a cable channel picking it up and producing new episodes.

Yeah I started getting into it as well, but it never felt like a "long term" show. Maybe they can tie everything up with a nice tv miniseries, web miniseries or hell even a comic series heh.

WHAT? I came on hyped after an AMAZING episdoe tonight to hear that it is canned? wtf? All the best shows get canned while the voice and dancing with the stars dominate television.

Why can't we keep 1 sci fi show on tv? No more creativity. Everything is either CSI, talent or some other bullshit.

Why can't we keep the creative sci fi shows?

V
Heroes
Sarah Connor
Dollhouse
FlashForward

Its like they do this to fuck with me. I fucking hate tv and every show that is geared towards me goes away as soon as it starts to become irresistible.

Current lineup
CSI
NCIS
CSI MIAMI
CSI LA
SURVIVOR
AMAZING RACE
AMERICAS GOT TALENT
THE VOICE
AMERICAN IDOL
DANCING WITH THE STARS
BIGGEST LOSER
APPRENTICE

At least TNT is coming out with a good show that they can cancel next year.

^You have to admit that Heroes got pretty atrocious towards the end. The first season was fantastic but after that, meh.

I agree with you on the other ones though. Flashforward started out slow but got a lot better as it moved on and even though V didn't have too much support, I enjoyed it. Dollhouse and Sarah Connor Chronicles were great shows though. You can also add Journeyman to the list.

Terminator was good. Dollhouse is good, I hear (sucked complete balls at beginning, so I stopped watching).

The event smacks of a dozen other sci fi shows
V isn't creative. it's a remake.
Heroes = xmen

On top of that, Flashfoward, The Event, V, and heroes had terrible, terrible acting and writing. Just because a show is scifi doesn't make it creative, and just because something is different (creative) doesn't make it good.

The problem with sci fi fans is they have no discriminating tastes. They will lap up andy scifi slop because it's "unique" to them, while an objective observer can easily see that the show is crap.

Sci fi fans have bad taste just like a general population. If it weren't The Event, it would be CSI or some other shit -- it's all recycled, cookie-cutter crap. Flashforward and the Event all were trying to be the next Lost

What a great ending for a season, but a horrible ending for a series. I wonder if there will ever be a movie/book/comic book that will get to tell the rest of the story.

It's shit like this that makes me want to never start watching a new show again until I know that it's made it at least past the first season. I wonder if a network stood behind a show from the beginning and announced up front that their new show would be guaranteed to make it 2 seasons, if that would have a positive effect on the ratings. I guess most people probably don't care about that sort of stuff.

I think one of the things that really hurt this show was the pilot episode. It turned a lot of people off with the airplane disappearing at the end. A lot of people saw it as a LOST replacement combined with various other sci-fi shows that had been done before. Plus, the title itself sort of geared towards a single revelation, which means once it occurs there's really no need to keep watching. I don't blame people for giving up with the show after watching the first ep, but as others have mentioned it really did get much better as the season progressed.

I think what really hurt the show was paper-thin characters and a shell game instead of a story arc

I think the "break" it took in the middle of the season were what killed this show, terrible timing. It had decent numbers and then never reached those numbers after the return. It actually took me a few weeks after it came back to finally get around to watching it on my DVR, had lost interest during the break. But I'm glad I picked it back up, it was a solid show. Just hate that the series finale was such a cliffhanger. Don't see this show getting picked up, but maybe they'll do a for-TV movie or something on NBC.

You mean the winter break that all scripted network shows take?

^Yeah that break(Nov. 29-Mar. 7) is a little too long. It's a new show, it can't afford a break like that. Either wait until after that "break" and start your show or skip taking a 4 month break right in the middle of the story. At least 4 of my friends/co-workers who liked the show stopped watching it following the break. I think that's really what killed the ratings.

I think the winter break is a new thing. Maybe my memory is just off or something but I don't really recall shows doing this (or at least not having it be 4 months long) 5 years ago.

"Minutes after NBC canceled freshman The Event on the unlucky Friday, May 13, the show's creator Nick Wauters and executive producer Steve Stark told fans that there was a possibility for the sci-fi drama to continue elsewhere. That possibility is now taking shape. I hear there are talks with Syfy to pick up The Event as a miniseries. Helping things is the fact that Syfy and The Event producer, Universal Media Studios, are NBCUniversal corporate siblings. But migrating a broadcast show to cable is never easy, and I hear discussions are underway to see if it would be financially feasible for The Event to continue on Syfy. If that happens and if the mini does well, it could potentially launch another season of the alien drama. Syfy has been active post-upfronts this year. The cable network also has been kicking the tires of the Fox pilot Locke & Key, but there haven't been any substantial discussions."

also, stolen from twitter:
