how i wish the pens had traded him for halak last year. the pens would have a good goalie, and the habs would have a french-canadian, which is more important to them than skill anyway. everybody happy.

i guess we'll always have the lidstrom save to remember him by.

It's happened before! And the results weren't great. Ironically enough it's our defense that is bringing us down right now. We have three rookie defensmen and Colin White can't play 60mins a night sadly. Not scoring a ton of goals isn't anything new for the Devils. Most of the games we won last season were by one maybe two goals and they were generally low scoring affairs. This year our D is causing poor turn overs, not able to get the puck out and unable to get pucks down low in the offensive zone where Zach can put it away. Bag on Marty all you want, but he's giving up only like 3-4 soft goals this season, otherwise he's played very well. I have no problem calling him out when it's needed, but in this case it's all about our D hanging him out to dry coupled with a lack of consistent chemistry with the forwards.

Now THAT was Devils hockey! Z-Z-Pops is back together with Zach setting up the Captain for our first goal and then Patrick scoring a very Patrick-like goal in the slot to give us the 2-1 lead. After that it was Devils of yore when they went into shut-down mode. At first I thought it was Kovalchuk just being lazy but realized he was *gasp* playing more defensively. I know that most of you a.d.d. kiddies whine about the trap, but damn if the Devils can't still pull it off even in the new NHL. Solid team effort. I don't know what this jibber jabber about replacing the coach was but every player on the bench will tell you that they are the ones who are letting him down and not the other way around. Also, there is discussion about retiring Scott Niedermayer's jersey in New Jersey!!!

^ Do it. It's a once-in-a-long time/lifetime kind of event for the area, and from everything I've heard, it's a great event to be there for.

I normally sit up in 332, but I opted for lower bowl seats for this one.

^^ No, he just completely flubbed it up. I was happy that they at least salvaged a point from that game. They played fairly well and were lucky that the Slugs are pretty much just as bad as they are right now. They've actually had 8 players make their NHL debut due to injuries.
