^That's awesome, I never noticed that. I am very excited about this one, as Nolan has definitely far exceeded my expectations in each film. Will he ever go down the path of introducing Dick Grayson/Robin in this film or if there is a 4th? 11/1/2010 10:13:07 PM |
Mr. Joshua Swimfanfan 43948 Posts user info edit post |
He's stated the the third film will be the last and that he will never introduce Robin. Christian Bale has stated that he'll drop out if Robin shows up.
Personally I like that they're wrapping it up as a trilogy instead of leaving it wide open to shitty sequels with a new cast/director every time.
Quote : | "i would not be at all upset if Two-Face was the main antagonist this time around. They both share a common thread and a shared loss that Two-Face completely blames on Batman. It won't take the entire first act of the film to convey why he's the antagonist and thus can use that time to bring this story of Batman full circle as Christopher Nolan has always said." |
My only complaint about the last one is that they didn't just wrap it up sooner and instead introduced and killed off a second villain at the finale, though the pay off may have been turning Batman into a public enemy who must be hunted in the third.11/1/2010 10:24:55 PM |

I wonder if they'd go the route of bringing in some other demented guy to play the misguided hero that tries to cleanse Gotham of the threat of the Batman. Anarky maybe? He said no Robin, does that extend to no Nightwing? Not as a sidekick, but as a separate self-made hero to fill the role that Batman had before he went bad.

I disagree...although Sandman was in Batman Begins, the main villain was Raz Al Ghul, which is about as obscure a character as they come for the mainstream movie watcher. But, no matter who it is, if Tom Hardy is playing the part, it'll be great.11/3/2010 9:54:02 AM |

You know how you make Robin work? You don't change a damn thing about him. Bruce Wayne attends the circus and sees a family of acrobats fall to their deaths due to a gangster's tampering, leaving their youngest son alone. Wayne volunteers to become the boy's ward. He sees the boy's need for revenge, recognizes what was in himself at that age, and invites him to turn his dark need for revenge into something more just.
Bright colors, jokes, ass-kicking. I don't see why these things are a problem. Why do people thing Robin needs to be "fixed"? There's a reason the character was popular in the first place. The sensational character find of 1940! Fuck your concerns about child endangerment and plausibility—it's motherfucking Batman and Robin. 11/3/2010 9:55:50 AM |

I will forever believe that Joker was not supposed to die at the end of the Dark Knight, and Harley Quinn was supposed to join him in the third movie. At this point I feel like continuing the Joker would be an insult to Ledger.
That being said, if Dr. Quiznel really did have a cameo in the film she can move into his roll instead of being an accomplice. The Joker's death could provoke her; somewhat like Norman/Harry Osborn. Her obsession of Joker should be enough to propagate such a transformation.
Also, she seems to always be portrayed as a blonde, at least when you see her hair. There are some blonde females in the link provided by Mr. Joshua. 11/3/2010 1:51:16 PM |

Maybe they can film his death at the very beginning of the movie. Like the police are cutting him down and one decides to kick him over the ledge.

1) there's no need for him to be dead to have harley quinn in it - just have her as a deranged fan. 2) i don't think they'd have harley quinn in the movie for the sole reason that she's just another joker, and they've already had the anarchist clown in one movie. 11/3/2010 5:33:04 PM |

Quote : | "The latest rumor is that Tom Hardy, who we know has been cast in the film, will be playing Dr. Hugo Strange, a possibility that has been discussed in the comments of almost every single one of our Batman posts. In the comics, Strange is a genius, mad scientist who becomes obsessed with Batman, learns his secret identity and ends up dressing up like him. Those are all links that certainly fit into Nolan’s universe, but until the director comes out and gives us an answer, it’s nothing more than speculation from an anonymous source. Read more about it, and a rumor about a Batman TV show, after the break.

It does make sense that Strange would be the villain. He has a clear connection to Scarecrow, and the hallucinogen back story is already in place.
According to wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Strange
Quote : | "Believing that his theory that Bruce Wayne is Batman has been disproved, and that he may have actually killed Batman, Strange had a mental breakdown and is taken to Arkham Asylum.
Following that, Strange reappears as the head of a gang of super-criminals attempting to take control of Gotham's East Side, then controlled by Catwoman. Catwoman joins Strange's gang, then allows its members to "find out" that she intends to betray them, faking her death when they attempt to eliminate her. Although she defeats and imprisons most of the gang, and even convinces Strange to leave the East Side alone, Strange still mocks her by pointing out that he had faked his own death far more often than she had." |
Considering this, it would of make sense that Catwoman will be the mystery female roll. She is the only female that is tied to Strange's history per Wikipedia.11/18/2010 4:53:56 PM |

I love working within the realm and rules of our Batman world. It’s kind of nice to have someplace to go that I’m super-excited about. I must say that I’m glad — I’m very, very glad — to be embarking on the last chapter of our Batman saga without any sense of obligation or duty to the studio. They did very well with Inception. So I’m able to go into finishing our story in a very enthusiastic way.

yeah, part of my thoughts on why i thought it would be Hugo Strange back on page one, is that it seems to kinda be in line with the type of villains Nolan seems to be writing... there's something almost 1970s dennis o'neil/marshall rogers- type Batman going on in the films

I think Nolan has Bane break his back.
Nolan has always said this is the end of his Batman story. How awesome would it be to end this with Bruce Wayne paralyzed in a wheel chair. It makes perfect sense why Bane is the final villain now. 1/19/2011 2:11:55 PM |
