And while we're on the subject, shoot lots of deer too please. I can't drive down Centennial Pkwy at night anymore without seeing at least one.

I'm not seeing the hate on quagmire in this thread.

I'm also from a farming community. When hunters and other homeowners with hunting dogs let their dogs recklessly run around harassing or damaging livestock, it's a major, major problem. Livestock owners go to great lengths to get rid of them, including harassing the owners about taking better care of their dogs. Authorities and communities are very vocal in saying that if it's a big problem, and you've dealt with the dogs numerous times in the past, it's more than within your rights to deal with the threat.

I've seen many aggressive dogs shot in this fashion. They used to tell them to put traps out for them. That shit is awful, at least he killed the dog (and probably didn't just wound it and cause it to bleed out for hours).

Anyone harping on him just because it was a dog he shot is completely ignorant of the situation. If it was a coyote he'd done the same and no one would give it a shit.

i think it was more that because i didn't spell out every step we took prior to me shooting the dog, they made the assumption that i just woke up one morning and decided to start shooting domesticated animals

^while true, most frequent TWW users should know that quagmire02 cares about the environment and the creatures that live there. I believe he's a pretty outdoorsy type of fella.

^I see myself as a frequent TWW user and don't have any notion for quagmire other than he's a douche who likes to argue, in a PhD program, and does some outdoors stuff. He also did something in glaciers or otherwise an extreme polar region. I was actually surprised when he made his "I <3 animals" post

(Course, there's more specific stuff about him, but that's what is somewhat relevant here)

I guess I haven't been around enough to have the "automatically hate every position quagmire takes" trait imprinted into my posting habits.

What PhD program?

I would guess something EE related...with a bio related program my next guess. Not too certain though. I might be mistaking one EE discussion for another forum, but he makes a lot of discussions pertaining to bio stuff.

[Edited on November 11, 2010 at 4:02 PM. Reason : Its also a "part work, part PhD" deal he has going on]

Dogs are just that, dogs. If mine were on someone else's property, and got hurt or shot, it'd be my own damn fault.

Wild dogs, and pack dogs in the country can be a serious nuisance.

i didn't realize that the automatic assumption would be that i get my kicks killing family pets, rather than my actions being justified given the situation, but i probably should have realized the "zomg quag posted, i should probably click on over there and call him out regardless of what it is!" crew would show up

to be fair to the ones that like to follow me around, i use this screen name to encourage contentiousness...it's not trolling so much as it seems, but yeah, i enjoy pushing buttons (until it turns into an elementary-style name-calling session, anyway)...i won't pretend to be innocent, because i'm not

i'm posting with my other screen name more, though, because i've pretty much destroyed this one

1) I'm a dog lover

2) I don't hunt

3) I am for people shooting feral animals

As usual, the topic at hand gets directed toward someone that the masses don't agree with. Breeding between domesticated and wild dogs is known to happen. The general public has this problem with only recognizing "sanctity of life" when it applies to humans or our domesticated fuzzy friends. I am all for feral animals being put down, and you can't always catch them all to take them to the vet to have them "humanely euthanized". Believe it or not, hunters tend to be pretty damn good at their animal IDs. And I don't believe that all animals that are [legally] hunted need to be used for all of their parts. We manage game species for hunting for the revenue dollars, and they're mostly harvested sustainably. When evidence suggests otherwise, regulations change. For those who have spent their entire lives in the city, well outside hunting grounds, you might not understand. Give your dog a hug, don't let it run away, make sure it has its tags, and Fido won't end up a bloody mess on the tailgate of someone's pickup truck.

There is (or perhaps was, I've not looked in a while) actually a bounty on coyotes in some counties.
