see, the problem was everyone was trying to compare it to the UK version right out of the gate, which isn't fair. Very few shows don't get better as time goes on, when they figure out chemistry and what works and what doesn't. Even the first couple of UK episodes were pretty blah. I think the US version is moving in the right direction, and I actually liked what I saw. I look forward to next season, and hopefully it won't take forever to get there!

The think that I didn't particularly like about that episode was the shame vehicle...

again its probably because I enjoy the British show so much;

a newer, more suitable for the terrain, Toyota isn't a "shame" to drive because it is an import... that whole bit (and they repeated it frequently) seemed really forced.

in the British challenges, the extra car is in fact a car that none of the guys want to drive (the american flag plastered bike in Korea comes to mind).

This, they need a replacement. I'll keep watching, though.

You mean the first 10 years. Top Gear UK has been around since the 80's and it was fucking awful until the late 90's

the new top gear is only the same as that top gear in name. that top gear became fifth gear. but even the first few seasons of the new top gear weren't great.

my wife (not a fan of the show US or UK) can not stand RW. I don't know what it is, he just makes her angry.

Same here... My lady even asked me to dvr an episode we started watching cause she liked it (she does like the UK shows)... But then she just kept saying "I HATE THAT GUY."

At first he annoyed me, but now he doesn't bother me so much.

don't ever look at his eyes. as soon as you notice that they never move your show any kind of emotion or expression its impossible not to notice it. you have been warned.

Redneck Drew Carey, but 1/4th as funny. A drunk friend described him this way. If he could learn how to read his lines without sounding like he's just learned to read it would be better.

I love when he delivers a "joke" or a "putdown" and the other two kinda just look around like who brought the retarded fat kid

Funny read. Also, James May is a genius.

^Yea, read that the other day and thought it was pretty interesting.

Really starting to like the show towards the end. But I agree, RW sucks. He's like the fat kid they brought along for the other two to pick on. Tanner is the best in my opinion because he can actually do some cool shit in a car, and Adam makes up for his lack of driving ability by his jokes and humor. RW brings nothing to the table. He reminds me of Jason Dawe. Yuck.

It's just a complete fucking lame concept -- you cannot copy another show almost verbatim and come out looking like anything other than a tool. The show would be better if they weren't trying to be like the british version at all.

Every time someone tries to act like someone else, it is pathetic.

kevin smith is retiring from directing

maybe with his new free time he can swap in and make the show funny, since they look exactly the same
