Interesting that no one's mentioned that Ernie and jbrick have developed a nice little rivalry over the past several months.

Don't know that I ever realized he posted much in sports talk before today

I'm convinced people who don't like the NBA don't like basketball, and only watch the college game out of a sens of obligation to support their alma mater.

Because you can't say the college product is superior with a straight face.

college ball is more entertaining as a spectacle

because no team in the NBA just forgets how to shoot on a random evening

being a fan of a college team is more nerve-racking, and therefore more fun

I've thought before that it might be due to the Hornets leaving town having pissed everyone off.

But I think a lot of people just get disappointed because they expect it to be all beast-like men slam dunking all over the place and they get let down that it's a more "international" game now and not NBA Jam.

The NBA has meant nothing to me since Reggie Miller retired

I admit, it meant the most to me around 1996-1997.

That year I got a Gatorade bottlecap that predicted the Jazz would win the Finals in 7 games.

I was one game away from winning whatever their grand prize was.

i cared more about the NBA in the mid-90s because i collected basketball cards back then and could name the starting 5 of like every team

also, players stayed with the same team a little bit longer (relative to today) so every team had an identity

and having the hornets be like a perennial playoff team helped

naw, the problem with the NBA (imo) is that the players are too good, and that for the most part cancels itself out. I'll admit that i've only watched a handful of full games in in the last few years, but what I see is 90% what looks like a herb sendek team.

I love watching sportscenter NBA highlights. You can watch all of the exciting plays and skip the boring shit. I equate it to NASCAR in terms of entertainment value. If i could watch 3 hours of cars crashing, I'd be a huge NASCAR fan.

At least 30

You can take a piss when a team grabs a defensive rebound now and come back before they get a shot off

What's wrong with organ music? It does nothing to disrupt baseball, hockey, or basketball. I actually like it, especially in baseball. If you're park doesn't have an organ, it's no good.

NBA teams score on such a high percentage of their possession, and it's all from boring mid range jumpers. I think there is some truth to the statement that they are too good.

Hodge is a lesson to youth coaches -- whoever allowed him to keep shooting the way he shot fucked him over. I expect that when he was young, hodge could get all the points he wanted, so there was never any pressure to fix his form. This is not a Phil Rivers situation where the awkward motion actually provided an advantage (quick release).

Most games don't mean shit. Most games aren't decided until the 4th (which sounds exciting but if you are just going to try and keep it close for 3 quarters what is the point of playing them). The playoffs are good but there are often instances (like Lebron last year) where players don't seem to be giving it their best effort even in the playoffs.

And I like basketball more than football.
