Oh, and as far as economic activity, anecdotally, I've had both of my credit cards increase my limit without me asking in the past quarter. Mid summer 2009 I called one of them up and asked for an increase and they said there was nothing they could do until their computer algorithm approved me. Oddly enough, I had a slightly better credit score then than I do now.

I love that our spending habits, whether or not we will, by ability or apathy, pay it back, and everything else about us money-wise can be accurately reproduced by computers, it's one of the main reasons I chose what I did as my career path.

Only to the extent the model lets them, which works in aggregate. In my case, my FICO score has been more of an anchor than any sort of an accurate reflection of me as a credit risk.

I haven't read this thread because I've been out of town and my dad almost died and whatever, but if this is Obama playing his hand perfectly I'd hate to see what it looks like when he fucks up.
