On the videoboard, probably in the same general location as the ads today But now we can sell 10 times as many ads b/c we can change them over the course of the game.

I really hope we don't wait on VCU's scoreboard to come available. I agree it would be awesome and that it has some serious potential, but we might miss out on some big name scoreboards if we wait til it's ready to talk.

The rendering looks awesome. I would LOVE for it to stay that ad-free around the scoreboard. Use other parts of the stadium or something, but with it that clean it looks nice and polished.

Is anyone in the know on the HD aspect of the board? I had heard we didn't buy HD cameras or think about making the ads in HD and may need to display in stretch. Apparently we approached Canesvision about borrowing theirs or having them do the ads in HD.

Not sure what's going on with all that, but it better be a damn HD signal. It's bad enough going to a sports bar and having to watch analog on an HDTV...

^^ uh, not sure who you "heard" from but canesvision runs everything about carter-finley's video setup. considering the new videoboard in the RBC, they most definitely have HD cameras.

the games have been produced out of the RBC for years now, and that's all already HD, that's another reason this upgrade is costing next to nothing. they aren't gonna buy this stuff and then have it be SD, cmon

^yeah, that's what confused me so much. This was from someone w/ the Canes. Said there was an issue w/ NCSU just expecting to use all of Canesvision's equipment, but I was also under the impression that canesvision had been doing all of the production for years.

I'm sure there's nothing to it, it was just something that came up in conversation, confused and concerned me.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll have to pay more. I think Canesvision was initially shocked that NCSU expected to use it all at no extra cost(especially the production of HD ads to replace the old SD ones).

^I think the ads would be provided by the advertisers themselves. I'm not aware of many situations where a school or athletic institution also produces advertisements for the companies that wish to advertise with them.

As far as the HD debate, from what I understand it will absolutely be HD, in fact that was the main reason that they are spending the $$$ on the new board.

As far as the debate between Canesvision and NCSU, I don't have any inside info on that but they did a lot of the production last year from the RBC center. The canesvision people felt that the old board was almost unusable with the new HD setup they had in the RBC building. I have no knowledge of the contract between the two, and I am sure there are some frustrations there, but if they ran the board for 6 football games last year, I would imagine they would do it again this year and be a little happier that they had new equipment to work with.

I am sure those "testimonial" adds could be re-filmed this year (as I am sure they are most years) with an HD camera this time. I am guessing they don't reuse those much anyways to stay current with products and surroundings. It would look sort of awkward if 2008 TOB was still endorsing the Pork Patrol.
