as long as i'm not constantly cleaning up their shit, i think i'd be good. but i don't live with my SO, so i'm not sure yet. but if i wasn't constantly picking up after them and we kinda split things, i'd be down. like i'm totally down for cooking if he does the cleaning. and he's ok with that too. i like the trade offs

but that is usually what happens. we do stuff together. or trade off. like he'd rather me cook, and that is what i'd rather do. he doesn't mind cleaning the dishes. and i don't really like it haha. so it works.

I work two jobs currently and am made to feel like a jerk sometimes when I argue I shouldn't have to upkeep the house as well

Yeah when I am working like double overtime (happens a few months out of the year) I get really pissed when all my clothes are dirty and the Oprah network is on.

"Cleaning the house is almost making me want to propose to my girlfriend. I fucking hate cleaning the house....and she loves cleaning.

I do all the yardwork and other "man shit"....and she can clean the house. Sounds good to me.

We also do a great job of splitting the cooking/cleaning dishes. When we cook, I prep food and do little shit, and she cooks everything else (unless we're grilling, then that falls under "man shit"). Then I clean the dishes when we're done. Which isn't a big deal to me because I'm very picky about a clean kitchen and usually clean everything as we go."

This cracks me up because it's exactly how me and Eric divide the chores, even down to us referring to grilling and yardwork as manly stuff. I don't mind helping out with doing the dishes in the end though, I just don't want them left to me if I cooked the whole dinner...

The only place where we differ on cleanliness is the bathroom. His looks normal.... until you pull back the shower curtain then it makes me all

I use to be that way until I bought my house this year. I deep clean my bathroom about once every three weeks...sometimes two weeks. I'm also constantly using the little Clorox Wipes to wipe shit down in between those times.

Actually, ever since I bought my house I've become a pretty good cleaner....I just don't like it. The only thing I'm still not great at is dusting.

best thing i ever did was get a maid.

it's only every two weeks, but that's reasonable for all the deep cleaning that I hate doing. in between I still vacuum a couple times a week (2 dogs make that somewhat mandatory) and other as-needed cleaning, but for the most part, it makes life much easier.

When I lived with my girlfriend back in Raleigh, I was unemployed for a month or two while she was working. I tried to do most of the chores then...cooking, dishes, keeping the room picked up. I think she still did laundry and vacuuming. In my opinion, if one person isn't working then its their responsibility to take up the majority of the chores.

^ This is how I feel too. To be fair he works as well, but he works 8 hours as opposed to my 14.

I do the bathroom, hes supposed to take out the trash (and does when I remind him). I keep up with the dishwasher, he does the hand washing (hes much faster and is nowhere efficient enough with the dishwasher). It makes the most sense to just play to our strengths instead of arguing over it. I figure I'd have to do it all if I lived by myself, so I might as well appreciate the help.
